The Kam Shing restaurant has served clients for over 30 years since 1986. This restaurant is reputed to be among the most popular Chinese restaurants in Montreal. The restaurant seats more than ninety diners at square and round tables seating up to 10. The atmosphere is informal and children friendly. The service is fast and the friendly waiters are very helpful when ordering. On-street parking (meters) is plentiful as well as free parking nearby as well. The extensive menu was recently updated and added to (more than 230 items) of Cantonese and Szechuan items. The food is authentic Chinese and is rated by many among the very best in Montreal. The portions are very generous and many diners take home the remainders for next day. The food is reasonably priced, delicious and served very fresh and of the highest quality. The restaurant is described as serving such outstanding items such as Hot and Sour soup, General Tao Chicken, Salt and Pepper shrimp, Cantonese Chow Mein, Peanut butter dumplings Chicken and green peppers or broccoli with rice noodles in black bean sauce. There are many vegetarian dishes, some gluten-free dishes and MSG free if requested. The restaurant is fully licensed and offer a variety of beers including Chinese beers, Saké, wine and several other beverages.
Kam Shing is widely praised for generous portions and a family style setup that makes it a good pick for groups, with many dishes described as tasty and well priced and several reviewers noting big portions that can yield leftovers; the menu is broad and the service is often quick and friendly, though some visits have featured uneven service and changes in flavor, including mentions that certain dishes like orange beef or pineapple chicken have not tasted the same as in the past; the restaurant is busy and well loved by longtime customers, and it remains a dependable option for classic Chinese dishes with crowd pleasing items such as wonton soup and fried rice.
Food is good, big portions with affordable prices ! A lot of people have been eating here for generations. You see a diversity of clients so they adapt properly to everyone (yes they have to judge you to see the amount of msg they put). I got one water refill at the end. I didn't ask tho but usually I shouldn't ask. Don't get me wrong, staff is hard working. For take away, they gave us boxes & a nice reusable bag. +1
Food : (way enough for 2 people, good for 3-4)
Cantonese chow meing (speciality) 4.75/5
Calamari salt & pepper (3.75/5 not warm not cold)
Fried rice (3.5/5 not the best not the worst)

Noodles are always good but here are the best I been eating here for years & all good love it it will never change.
The service is great & they are very polite & nice.
I went with family so my boy really likes the food & my girl like it too & my husband loves the food very much that they even asked me if we can go again
It's been over 30 years as my family's favorite Chinese restaurant 😋.
Avlin & his brother have been able to offer the same great food & services as their fathers heritage.
Restaurant is located inside the mall, downstairs where the Gaint Tigers store is. They moved to the other side of the mall, best Chinese food I ever had comparing to Toronto. Portions are huge, is shareable, & prices are affordable. Which made me come back twice during my trip in Montreal.
The decor & atmosphere feels homey in a sense of when you go to an old Chinese restaurant as a kid. Great childhood memories. 👌

Je vais a cet endroit depuis plusieurs années. Le service est excellent & la nourriture est très bonne. Ils ont aussi un bon choix de repas végétarien.
Been coming here for many years. Always a good experience; food's great & portions are generous. Best Salt-&-Pepper Tofu in the city & we also love their veggie noodle plate.

Very disappointed with my meal at Kam Shing today. The wontons in the soup hardly had any shrimp in it; mostly flour... The owner of the restaurant hardly took notice when I pointed this to him.
The other dish was dull.
I noticed that they have a new menu. Of course, all prices went up but unfortunately the quality went down... Hope this was just a bad day for them. Otherwise, this is shameful on their part.
An unhappy custome
The restaurant itself is not pretty, old tables, virtually no décor ..but oh my gosh the food is delicious.
We had general tau chicken, scallops with Chinese broccoli, a white rice with shrimp dish & 1/2 litre of a white house wine.
Everything hot, fresh, large portions.
The whole bill worked out to about $25 each tax in.
My friend & I wanted take out last night & we decided to place an order & go pick it up at this particular place. We had spring rolls, general Tao chicken, orange beef & vegetable fried noodles & we loved it. Easily one of the best general Tao chicken I have ever had.

The restaurant has a large capacity. Often you wait in line to be seated but the food is good. The dishes do not all come at the same time but that's not the issue.
The service & attitude of the staff is terrible.
When they serve you it seems as if they are doing you a favor serving you.
We did not leave a tip. It's unfortunate that the tips all go into a pot & are split among the waiters. So ours doesn't even know if we did or didn't leave one.
I have been eating here for the past 20 years. Since the owner is no longer there the portions have gotten smaller & the service worse.
It will be a long time before I go back.
