About

Restaurant Didar delivers a focused exploration of Indian culinary traditions through a diverse menu highlighting complex spice profiles and authentic preparation methods. The kitchen specializes in vegetarian preparations, utilizing fresh produce and legumes to craft substantial dishes that prioritize depth of flavor and traditional texture. Diners encounter a range of aromatic lentil preparations, vegetable curries, and house-made breads baked in a traditional tandoor oven. The interior environment remains functional and straightforward, ensuring the culinary output stays the primary focal point of the visit. Ingredients are sourced to maintain consistency across the entire menu, from spicy vegetable stir-fries to mild, creamy sauce-based offerings. Restaurant Didar is widely regarded as a premier destination for authentic Indian cuisine in Montreal, consistently praised for its flavorful dishes, generous portions, and exceptional value. Visitors frequently highlight the butter chicken, various paneer dishes, and fresh naan as standout menu items that capture the essence of traditional cooking. The service is repeatedly described as attentive, welcoming, and warm, with many patrons noting the family-owned atmosphere that makes guests feel like they are being hosted at a home. We visited this restaurant last night while visiting Montreal. Found it on Google maps & it had great reviews , & was close to our hotel, so decided to try.
Wow !! Amazing food & service.
We ordered PaneerTikka , Butter Chicken , & Channa Masala with garlic Naan.
The Paneer Tikka came out sizzling on a cast iron grill & smelled & looked amazing . Tastes even better 😍
Every dish was bursting with flavour, loved them all.
Chatted with the owners, a family owned & run business for 25 years. Great experience overall, & look forward to returning on our next trip to Montreal .
Be sure to check out Didar Restaurant, highly recommend.

Best Indian restaurant in Montreal. Prices are soooo cheap! Butter chicken is to die for. I go at least once a month even if I now live in Sherbrooke. They have a 10$ all you can eat buffet all week long during lunch. They offer a variety of dishes ( soups, samosas, vegetarian & non vegetarian curries, Dal, Channa, fresh naans & rice, etc.) Tried pretty much everything & everything was amazing. Staff is nice as well! I think its run by a family. The place isnt fancy at all, the front of the building isnt actually nice but its so worth it. & its clean. You gotta try it!

Update: It's been 7 years since my initial review & this restaurant is still one of my favourite! I brought all my friends & family & everyone loves it!
