The food was exquisite. Coming from Chicago, a city which offers endless options for middle eastern food, I had high expectations & was not disappointed. The spreads: hummus, baba ganoush & esme were smooth & bursting with flavor. The shrimp were fresh & tasty, & the halloumi cheese salad with dates & honey left me wanting for more. I now dream of visiting Bromont, not only for the skiing but also for Restaurant Babar.
Babar offers a delightful range of Middle Eastern cuisine in a place where its rare to find. While the meat was slightly overcooked, the overall experience was positive, making up for this minor flaw. The staff's friendliness added to the pleasant dining atmosphere.
We enjoyed a fantastic lunch here at Babar, rue Shefford, in Bromont. Babar specializes in Mediterranean fare, & we ordered Pitas, une petite fattouch (small order of flat bread with mixed greens & vegetables), & all dressed Hummus. To say it was exquisite is an understatement; a sumptuous lunch in a most picturesque area of Quebec, is a wonderful memory. The server was fully bilingual, friendly, professional & informative, while the restaurant is well appointed & welcoming. When you are driving through this area, be sure to stop & visit.
My partner & I were seated at the Chef's table - which is right in the kitchen. To be honest, we felt a little akward at first but it turned out to be a fun & interesting experience. The food, drinks, service & staff were absolutely fantastic. I fully recommend Babar !
