Our table & the table of 4 next to us had our orders forgotten by the waitress/ kitchen. They were churning out take out orders & completely forgot about their diners sitting there patiently waiting.
After 40min of waiting, I got up to inquire & finally our food was ready in less than 5mins.
The other table folks decided to cancel & walked out the restaurant but within 2 mins, the staff sat them down & brought the food to them. Judging on how quickly the food arrived after we complained/ walked out , it was clear that we & them were all forgotten!
Unfortunately, our food was too spicy- my son could not eat it. For the record, we do Indian & spicy foods all the time.
So, the spice gave us terrible heartburn. When we tried to tell them they blamed us for not raising the issue & said they could have recook the meal. Another 40 min wait? No thanks…
Punjab Canteen might not win any awards for ambience-it's a simple, no-frills setup-but if you're looking for authentic, delicious Indian food with warm, genuine service, this place is a gem.
Our family was in Montreal for four days & tried 7-8 different Indian restaurants, including some highly rated fine dining spots. But when it came to actual taste & hospitality, Punjab Canteen stood out by a mile. We ended up coming back every single day for brunch because nothing else came close.
Highly recommend the Amritsari kulcha-crispy, flavorful, & served with a comforting chole. The yellow dal was soulful & home-style, & both the chaat & bread pakora hit the spot. Real, honest food.
A big shoutout to Balram & Muskan, who made us feel like family each time we visited. If you care more about what's on your plate than the decor around you, this is absolutely worth a visit.
The food was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered is fresh, flavourful, & cooked perfectly. The staff is also nice(Muskan, Balram ). Definitely recommend it!'

Very flavourfull, the waitress was kind & polite, place is nice, with & effort of decoration & they put music to cheer-up. Fresh food, reasonnable prices. I would give a 5 stars if it was not for the food too oily, i think they can cook with less oil, that's the only thing . Otherwise I am happy with my experience & may come back. Thank you
I really love this place, everyone should visit there. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is really good. They always maintain proper hygiene. Highly recommended!!!!
