Nous étions venus pour regarder un match de la Coupe du monde. La télévision n'arrêtait pas de bugger, mais le serveur, lui, a été sympathique, & il a essayé à deux reprises de régler le problème, sans succès.
Le propriétaire a été désagréable du début à la fin. Il nous a menacés parce que, selon lui, nous ne consommions pas assez. Une consommation par heure minimum.
Un de nos amis avait demandé au propriétaire s'il pouvait aller chercher à manger à l'extérieur. Celui-ci lui avait clairement répondu que oui. Une fois revenu avec son repas, le propriétaire a complètement changé de discours & lui a interdit de manger sur place sous prétexte que « ça sentait dans tout le bar » alors que nous étions sur la terrasse.
Quand notre ami lui a fait remarquer qu'il lui parlait de manière très désagréable, le propriétaire nous a tout simplement mis à la porte.
Well… I sadly have to edit my review I left 8 months ago. Back then, good impression. Today?… something is up with the owner. I come in with a box from belle pro. Yeah, i'd just been there, gotten some takeout, & wanted to stop for a drink on the way home. Ste-Elizabeth used to be dope. Instead of saying'hey, please don't eat that here or on the terrasse', the guy wants to make money from that. Asking $3!! Bc he thought I was gonna eat my food there!! I wasn't! Lol. Could have asked, instead of assuming.
& tbh… a classy place just doesn't allow outside food, period. But thats my take & preference. I just think it's cheap to squeeze a penny out of every opportunity.
What is less open to interpretation is what came next. I got there late. 2:10 ish. Sat in the nice terrasse only to have this dude pop up on the balcony at 2:25 & legit scream at everyone'you got five minutes to get out'. & proceed to get into a verbal altercation with a small group who felt offended. Wat? I just sat down & you're kicking me out??
Ridiculous. So of course I share my frustration with him.
He's trying to tell me he came there 20 minutes ago & warned everyone. Not realizing that maaaaaybe I wasn't there then?? That I'd just gotten there & barely gotten my drink?!
If you're so frustrated that some of your customers are difficult (pss: they're drunk kids, it's normal), maybe you shouldn't be running a bar. Customer service is hard but also easy. You know the right way to treat people. You just don't have the energy to do it anymore.
Or maybe that's just who you are. Nevertheless, best of luck running an institution.

A favourite bar of mine here historically, but just called to ask a very basic question about a booking for next week for a large party & started the call with asking a very simple'bonjour, how are you?' The man on the other end of the phone rudely replied saying'I have 4 people waiting on hold, so get to the point'. I thought this was a very rude thing to say, particularly because I phoned them on a weekday at 5pm, so not during peak hours. I won't be coming back

J'y suis allé hier soir avec une amie, & un employé m'a dit que je devais aller commander au bar, car il n'y avait pas de service au table aujourd'hui. Sur les tables, il n'y avait aucun menu, & aucun code QR afin de voir le menu. Quand je suis allé au bar, la barmaid afro-américaine qui a pris m'a commande, ne comprenait même pas le Français! J'ai commandé un gin tonic, & une pinte de cidre, & lorsqu'elle m'a donné le terminal, c'était inscrit 57$! Je lui ai dit que c'était impossible de payer autant avant pourboire pour ces deux produits, & son incompréhension du Français lui avait fait comprendre que je voulais un gin tonic+un pichet de cidre... J'ai vraiment été insulté de ne pas me faire servir dans ma langue, & il a fallu l'intervention d'un de ses collègues francophones pour éteindre l'incendie. Par principe, j'ai laissé un 2$ de pourboire symbolique, mais après y avoir repensé, je n'aurais rien du laisser du tout, car il n'y avait aucun service au table, deux consommations basiques ont coûté une fortune, & je n'ai même pas été en mesure de pouvoir faire ma transaction en Français! L'ironie dans ce bar, c'est que sur la porte de la terrasse qui était fermée, il y était indiqué que l'établissement chargeait une taxe de 3,00$ sur le service de nourriture servi à l'extérieur! Ils donnent un service inexistant à l'intérieur, & à l'extérieur quand la terrasse est ouverte, ils veulent nous charger 3,00$ supplémentaire pour un''service'', en plus bien sûr d'avoir le culot de nous demander un pourboire pour le service ensuite... Mais on nous prend pour des imbéciles! Cet endroit a été pendant longtemps un incontournable pour les Montréalais, mais il semble avoir pris le tournant d'un''attrape touristes'' où les Québécois francophones ne sont plus les bienvenus, & où toutes logiques de bon sens envers les clients locaux moins fortunés que les touristes étrangers doit être la nouvelle norme!
À ÉVITER, C'EST À LA FOIS UNE ARNAQUE, & UNE INSULTE!!!
The bar tenders here are great but the short stubby owner was rude. My friends were drinking & he said I couldn't sit with them unless I buy a drink & then proceeded to assume I don't speak French & talk rudely & down on me to his employees right in front of my face. I wouldn't come here again.
