The atmosphere is warm & cozy, very good wine selection, & the food was delicious. The steak & fries were perfectly cooked & full of flavor. Everything felt well thought-out & high quality.
The only downside was that the service was a bit slow at times, but it didn't take away too much from an otherwise great evening.
I passed by the restaurant during the day & the concept of a butcher & a restaurant at the same place made me very curious. It worked perfectly, it was a nice experience to choose the steak, see it before been cooked & receiving the best steak I have ever eaten in any restaurant in Montreal. We asked the steak medium & it was perfectly cooked medium, a delightful experience for meat lovers. The roasted garlic & the butter to use on the steak were a perfect combination, the French fries were crispy, well season. The waiter was pleasant, polite & very knowledgeable about the menu. We paid around $130 for the steak for 2 people, it is more in the expensive side especially if you drink a glass of wine, but the quality of the meat makes it so worth it ! Looking forward to going back & maybe next time they will have the beautiful flambe cake we saw in the reviews, count me in !

Provisions Bar à Vin had been on my recommended list for a while thanks to a good friend - & I'm so glad we finally went. The concept is unique: a high-quality butcher with a stylish seating area & bar right next to it, making it both inviting & original.
We tried les incontournables & everything was a hit. The Parker House roll (a soft brioche-style bread with their special whipped butter) was delicious & zesty. The Profiteroles with chicken liver mousse, topped with truffles, struck the perfect sucré-salé balance. & the scallop nuggets with three house-made sauces (gochujang ranch, Szechuan BBQ, XO sauce) are an absolute must-try.
For the main, we shared a beautiful T-bone steak - they even bring it to the table first so you can admire the cut. I usually go medium well, & this one was cooked perfectly. It's served with butter you brush on using a thyme leaf, which adds such a nice touch. We went with chimichurri sauce - absolutely delicious & one of the best steaks I've had in the city. On the side, we had their big-cut fries & garlic mushrooms, both excellent. My oldest went for their cheeseburger & fries, which was also a winner.
Overall, Provisions Bar à Vin is a spot where everything feels thoughtful - from the concept to the flavors. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy one of the best steaks in town along with creative small plates in a great atmosphere.
If you ask me to point out a city hidden gem, Provision is IT! The quality of the meats & service rubs shoulders with Montreal finest restaurants. Provision is HIM!! Plus their burger is lowkey top 5.
I've been to this place 3 times now & recommended it to a lot of friends & family. The quality of the meat is to die for. The service is always wonderful & the wine list is great. The ambiance is warm & intimate. It can get busy but you can still hear yourself speak. I would've given it a 5 star, but I was greatly disappointed of my last visit. I had been wanting to show this place to a friend for a while.While making my reservation, I saw that they offered a special on Monday nights for 25$ which includes: cheeseburger, fries & beer. Thought this would be a great idea for a weekday late night meal with a friend & to support neighbourhood gems. Considering only 3 tables were taken that night including us, I didn't think it would be a bother. The cheeseburger came without fries. It was pointed out by one of the employees but nothing was done. The cheeseburger was delicious, but overall disappointed. It's should've been served as advertised. We were still charged 25$ each despite the missing fries.
Well well, this was an experience! first of all, they share space with a butcher shop, so you can imagine the quality of meat. Vegetarian friends, don't be afraid, there are many items to enjoy. I had the tasting menu paired with wine that was great, the wine selection is wonderful & vast. There is something for many tastes, it is high quality & you pay accordingly, the service is great. I definitely recommend this place, take a loan out from your bank & go experience this place, you won't be disappointed.
If you want to eat a great piece of expertly cooked meat, eat here. Some of the staff takes a while to warm up to you but service is usually quick & friendly & food while not cheap, is definitely solid value for the quality you get. Never been tempted to eat every single morsel of a steak before; here, even the fat is scrumptious!

Exceptional! I went for lunch & had one of the best meals I've had in Montreal. The quality of the food is 100% top-notch. You can taste the freshness & love put into the dishes. I had the Bolognese Brisket & endive salad. I can only come up with hand gestures to say how good the bolognese was. Compliments to the Chef. I love that their wine selection changes & they give you exactly what you're looking for. Wine was exceptional as well. I hope to return to Montreal soon just so I can go back here.
Best burger In town, one of the best brisket sandwiches I've ever had, the fries are fresh & crispy & the prices are fair for the quality, simply delicious & perfect to take out & enjoy at the park! 2024 update: My wife & I celebrated our anniversary at provisions, we've enjoyed their sandwiches for a few years so we knew it was going to be great, & they absolutely exceeded our expectations, we ordered 2 entrees, scallop crudo & fried calamari, the crudo was perfectly balanced, not too acidic & super fresh & the calamari were fresh & crispy, topped with an olive & sun dried tomato tapenade with a marinara sauce on the side, then my wife ordered, in her own words, one of the best beef tartares in Montreal, the avocado gave it a nice & creamy texture & the seasoning was perfect. I ordered the steak & frites & it was absolutely incredible, cooked to perfection & seasoned on point with a delicious warm sauce on the side & perfectly crispy fries. All of this paired with a great Pinot noir recommended by the Maitre & for a dessert a super creative & delicious dessert. All of this added to the excellent ambiance & music made a lovely & memorable experience for us, we strongly recommend provisions & we're surely return very soon!
