This was, by far, one of the best & authentic Portuguese meals I've had in Canada in years! Our server, Selena, was gracious & amazing, & Chef Luis, the owner, prepared a fabulous meal & made us feel so welcome! Some of the best Portuguese food I ever had. The food & drinks are exceptional. It felt like I was eating at home. Our chef Luis went above & beyond. Selina was our server & she was incredible. If you ever come to Montreal & want good Portuguese food, Porto Mar should be on your list.
A truly memorable meal in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Great food, friendly service & unique cuisine. In contrast to other restaurants in the area, the noise level was low, making conversation easy against a background of pleasant Portuguese music.
Was our first time at this restaurant & we will definitely return. The food was delicious & so fresh. The waitress was very friendly & the atmosphere was relaxing. The music was nice background music & not the loud music so often seen lately at restaurants. They also had a good variety of Portuguese wines. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Attentive service & incredible & tasty food ! We tried a Portuguese soda pop juice passion fruit & orange & it was so sweet & good. Also we tried the mix grill for meats & it was amazing!!!! The steak was juicy. Also we had their fresh vegetable soup of the day & some salads. Good choice on our end & we found this spot accidentally

The food was good, but what really made the evening was everything else. The service was excellent: the owner & chef came by for a friendly chat, & our server, Jaiden, was kind & attentive without hovering. The atmosphere was relaxed & inviting, with tasteful Portuguese-inspired décor & music that set the tone without overwhelming conversation. We brought our son along & felt completely at ease; the place is family-friendly without being loud or chaotic. It's not overly fancy or pretentious, & the staff treat you like real people, not like you're at a formal banquet. If you're debating where to go for a relaxed family dinner, this spot is a solid choice.
Delicious authentic portuguese food with an amazing service staff. The steak & the turbo are to die for! Also very accommodating to celiac patients as many items on the menu are gluten free!
I give it 3 stars because the classic Portuguese dish was not tasty. Namely rice with seafood. They first brought this dish to me spicy (it's not a spicy dish), then they remade it, but it still wasn't good. I thought the problem was the rice & the sauce. Nevertheless, the homemade sausages were delicious. The cocktails were good, too. The service was excellent.

Beautiful Portuguese restaurant in old montreal. We had the table l'hôte menu that came woth starter, main dish & dessert with coffee. Great meal, attentive staff! Totally recommend.
My family & I had a fantastic time at Porto Mar, we tried various traditional Portuguese dishes & they were all authentic & savoury. If you get the chance to stop by please try their dessert pastéis de nata!
A veritable institution for Portuguese cuisine in Old Montreal, Porto Mar offers all the classics you'd expect. The setting is in keeping with those original stone-brick buildings accented with wood trim offering a somewhat somber moody atmosphere. All very historic! Given the configuration of the room, there are several seats at the front with large windows facing d'Youville street & then a cozy similar sized section in the back (itself divided into two by a walkthrough zone) deep into the brick & old wood look. For our meal we opted for the table d'hote...We started with the Caldo Verde Soup (very good but could have been a bit more flavorful) & the Mixed Salad (it was a mixed salad). For our mains we had the Grilled Half Chicken (very moist & tender meat) & the Fish of the Day - Cod (also very good) with a small serving of potatoes & vegetables on the side. Dessert was a traditional & very good Creme Caramel (Flan) & the Chocolate Mousse (good). Service was friendly & helpful with the meal being served promptly. Enjoy!

One of the best Portuguese restaurant I've been to in town, specifically in the Old Montreal Area, with it own touch.
The service given was very pleasant, helped us with the wine selection.
We were three couples dining. The grilled chorizo, Portuguese soup & sardines starters were fabulous, The main courses were grilled chicken with a Piri seasoning, pork cutlets, & red sea bass were all very good. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The servers were excellent. We will definitely return!
