Reviews of Pizzeria Sofia show a mixed picture: some diners praise the pizza, gnocchi, and authentic flavors with generous portions and attentive service when all goes smoothly, while others report slow or inconsistent service, gaps in gluten free options, misdelivered items, and questions about water pricing. The atmosphere is described as pleasant and sometimes lively, but noise levels can be high and prices may feel steep for what is offered. Parking and reservation hiccups during busy times are noted, and a few staff missteps affect the overall impression. Overall, the dining experience ranges from very positive on the food to mixed or disappointing on service and value.
The service was good. The food was not what I expected. We were 5 people & only 1 main dish was you can say worth the price you paid. The vegetarian pizza looked more like a Margherita pizza. I counted 10 zucchini, 4 eggplant slices, 5 half sliced peppers, & 2 oyster mushrooms. Hardly any cheese. You can say the bare minimum for the price ($26). The pasta dish with sausage & rapini looked like an entree dish. The salmon had a tablespoon of rice & a couple of leaves of vegetables.
The only presentable dish was the prosuito pizza, which looked good.
I understand the cost of food has gone up, but the plates looked miserable.
I can think of many other Italian restaurants to go eat where you get your money's worth. This place I would not recommend.
Ambiance felt cold & unwelcoming at times. Food was okay but not great pizza was lacking ingredients & plates sizes were small. All in all it was an okay supper nothing more.
We went to Sofia on a Friday night as a group of seven. First challenge: no parking outside, so I had to use the indoor garage. The sign at the entrance said parking would be covered if validated by the restaurant.
When we arrived, our group had already placed their orders, so I added mine - a glass of wine & a main dish. The restaurant was full, so I understand it was busy, but it took quite a while for the wine to arrive. There was no water on the table, & we had to ask for it ourselves. Throughout the night, our waitress rarely checked on us, even as she passed by several times. We had to ask a busboy twice to find her.
The food, however, was excellent - very tasty & well-prepared. That part definitely lived up to expectations.
I wanted a second glass of wine later, but again, our server was nowhere to be found. When I finally managed to get one, it took a while too. At the end of the meal, I asked her to validate my parking ticket, which she claimed to have done.
We stayed about 45 minutes after paying - just chatting, stepping out for a smoke, & asking for more water. But when I got to the parking exit, I was surprised to be charged $8. Either the ticket wasn't properly validated, or the validation window expired during our stay - which wasn't clearly explained.
Overall, I'd give the experience 3 stars:
• Food: excellent
• Service: lacking
• Parking situation: frustrating
It's a beautiful place with great food, but the service & unclear parking policy really took away from the experience.
The Meal was really good. Service was also very good.
They lost my vote when I was charged $15 for water.
Does not make any sense. At least offer TAP water for free.
Tip selection starts at 18%. I had to manually select different option to get 15%
I'm definitely not going back for those reasons

On va y retourner, merci

This restaurant is always very good. Food is always good but a bit on the pricey side for what it is. Drinks are also crazy expensive here & they don't even use top shelf alcohol for cocktails. My martini made with sky vodka was 20$!
The parking is also quite annoying. Especially in winter. There is no front parking. You either park underground at the hotel or in the back of the building which is quite far. You can also park at BMO at night, but again, it's a bit of a walk.
Friends have said that they find their meals bland, the things I've ordered though have been good but if you want something even better I'd say to go try Corneli in laval. Crazy good food but service is meh for now since they are new.
I love this place! Professional service great food. I read other reviews & says pricey, it's a supper club type atmosphere & the review that said restaurant asked them is service was poor because they didn't tip because they were teenagers lol makes me laugh. Stay home if you're not going to tip a service industry. I'm sure the restaurant wants to say this but can't because it might offend some of the customers. People today expect everything for nothing. It's sad. Anyways great place. Fun atmosphere. Good times.
