My last trip to Montreal coincidentally aligned with their restaurant festival, Mtl a Table, where participating nicer restaurants offer a prix fixe menu to invite people to try them out that may not usually otherwise. This brought me to Pincette - Bar à Homard, which turned out to be just a few blocks away from my hotel on Old Montreal. It did take me a bit to find because of confusing Google Maps directions, but eventually I made it inside & was seated at the bar. I was offered the regular menu but when advised I was here for the prix fixe, they brought that one. There was a choice of four appies, four mains & three desserts for $68. I had already pre-scouted the menu, as is my habit, so I got my order in quickly & service was fairly quick at the bar. I started with the Magdelan Island scallops, seared, vegetables, coconut milk, curry & clam juice. This was an $8 up charge to the prix fixe, but I couldn't resist the chance for some local scallops. This was probably my favourite of the three dishes I had. The scallops were large, fresh & juicy, & the curry sauce & veggies wasn't a pairing I would have thought of on my own but it worked well & it was creamy & flavourful. I stayed with local ingredients for my main, the Manicougan halibut, confit in olive oil, root vegetables, bisque & black mullet caviar. 'm a big fan of halibut -- it's probably my go-to restaurant fish -- but I didn't like this execution. With the confit it was too dry & overcooked. Halibut is better grilled, or breaded & fried. The sauce & veg were fine & the plating was attractive, but it couldn't rescue the lackluster fish. Finally, for dessert I kept it simple with the mango sorbet. It was delicious. Overall, while this was an OK meal it was not my favourite of my visit & will not be on my list for a return visit when I'm next in Montreal. For the price I paid, I expect a properly cooked piece of fish.Voir plus

En vacances à Montréal. Peu de monde dans le restaurant ce soir là. Un peu trop calme de ce fait mais qualité dans l'assiette au RDV & service irréprochable. Merci Manon pour l'accueil & les bons conseils.Voir plus
We had the lobster roll & arancini. Plating was beautiful & the flavors were subtle & balanced, so you can taste the freshness of the seafood. Service is excellent. & they play good music.Voir plus

They where good in 2021 when they open but I went recently & it was just soo desapointing!! The lobster was so over cooked & dry! The arrancini were not as tasty & the raviolli didn t tasted the lobster they are suppose to contain. Over all way to pricy for the quality they offer.Voir plus
I've been a few times to Pincette, including birthday celebrations, mother's day, & a few walk-in lunches & dinner. This review is about my recent disappointing experience. The portion of my starter was laughingly small, having ordered the scallops tataki, the plate presented one single scallop cut into thin small slices, there was probably half a bite, an absurdly small portion considering the price. My partner had a clam chowder that he believes was watered down from how liquid & bland it tasted. During our three course meal, the server never asked us how our food was, he would simply bring our plates & rushingly leave despite the half empty restaurant. Our water had been empty for the past 20 minutes! After the dessert, he brings the check immediately without asking us first, I felt like I was being rushed to leave! I've never had someone bring the check unwarranted; servers always ask if we're ready first, or if we want tea/coffee. I felt incredibly unwelcomed & did not expect this kind of service from Pincette, after my numerous positive experiences! I don't think I will be visiting anytime soon.Voir plus
