Review Summary

Philinos is described by diners as delivering authentic Greek cooking with generous portions and consistently flavorful dishes such as moussaka, lamb, souvlaki, calamari, Greek salads, and a dessert of loukoumades, all paired with friendly, attentive service in a warm atmosphere that ranges from romantic to lively on the terrace; the restaurant is widely regarded as a top Greek option in Montreal, a reliable favorite for family dinners, gatherings with friends, and special occasions, with many noting it as the best Greek in town and praising value and portion sizes that satisfy hungry groups; there are a few criticisms, including a Parc Avenue visit where service and language responsiveness fell short and the food was described as mediocre for the price, occasional remarks about the dining room being loud or in need of an interior refresh, and occasional comments about tipping etiquette, but the overall sentiment remains strongly positive with recurring compliments on authenticity, hospitality, and the ability to make guests feel at home, prompting plans to return and to recommend Philinos to others.

Absolutely incredible New Year's Eve dinner. Octopus, calamari, lamb chops, zucchini & eggplant chips, saganaki & salad all fantastic.

Had a wedding here a few days ago & everything was perfect the place is nice the waiters are 10/10 they'll always be on time waiting is not an option once you ask for something you can expect to get it in a few seconds. The food is one of the best Greek food I've ever tried, we had entrees of three different kinds of dips with slices of bread then some grilled octopus with calamari & fried cheese with some salade everything was good the salade was refreshing I loved the octopus wish I asked for more. The main dish we had a platter of sausage with lamb & pork with chicken all of it was great my least favourite was the sausage but the lamb was delicious with a side of potatoes the potatoes were good as well! Only bummer thing about this place is the parking which is obviously not their fault but depending on the time & day good luck finding parking.

I used to love it here but went back recently & found it lackluster while prices have skyrocketed. Calamari is frozen & ok but not for 19$, the biggest ripoff is the octopus at 35$ for barely one tentacle. It had about 6 pieces of very moist octopus but the price is ludicrous compared to other Greek restaurants of similar caliber. The meat platter was decent but all the meats were under seasoned. Overall, decent food but not worthy of the high mark-up on most of the menu. They are cutting corners & it shows & it's insulting to the customer to be charging these prices as if it were a high end dining experience.
