Come and discover at Petros Restaurant in Griffintown the tradition of Greek taverns — authentic cuisine. Sunny, colorful gastronomy enhanced with herbs and spices, and infused with olive oil. Taverne Petros has created a menu based on Greek market cuisine, featuring fresh fish and grilled dishes.
Petros Taverne Grecque is described as a warm, inviting spot with a Greek ambiance, generous portions, and fresh, flavorful dishes that transport diners to Greece. Service is consistently praised as excellent and attentive, with many noting a standout level of hospitality that elevates the evening, though a few comments mention the pace can be busy and prices high. The menu covers a broad array of Greek classics and mezze, with favorites such as octopus, lamb chops, calamari, moussaka, Greek salad, taramasalata, and grilled sardines, and the BYOB option is frequently highlighted as a plus. The quality is often described as authentic and well balanced, with many meals described as delicious and well presented, while a handful of reviews point to occasional inconsistencies such as salty cheeses, under seasoned fish, or bread that is not fresh. Overall the venue is seen as a great choice for groups or celebrations, offering a lively but welcoming atmosphere and reliable hospitality that makes guests want to return.
I had heard so many great things about Petros in Griffintown that I arrived with fairly high expectations. I'm happy to say the experience not only met them - it exceeded them.
From the moment we sat down, everything about the evening felt thoughtfully executed. The cuisine is authentic Greek & Mediterranean, prepared with a refined, high-end touch. Every dish showcased remarkable freshness & balance. The appetizers were beautifully presented & full of flavor, the salad was vibrant & perfectly seasoned, & the highlight of the evening - the grilled fish - was absolutely outstanding. It was cooked to perfection & truly memorable.
Service also deserves special mention. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, & gracious throughout the meal, offering thoughtful recommendations & making the entire experience feel relaxed & welcoming.
Another great advantage is that the restaurant is bring-your-own-wine, which adds a wonderful level of flexibility & enjoyment to the evening.
Petros delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. I will absolutely be returning & would highly recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding Mediterranean cuisine in Montreal.
For starters, we ordered grilled sardines, calamari, & tzatziki.
We received three sardines; personally, I found them not grilled enough & quite difficult to eat. The calamari were also not fried enough - very light in color, without the nice golden finish one would expect. The taste was acceptable but nothing special. As for the tzatziki, frankly, I found that the one from Costco tastes better.
For the main course, we ordered loup de mer & dorade. Both fish were well cooked; however, the side dishes were disappointing. The rice (similar to Uncle Ben's), the Greek potatoes lacking typical Greek herbs, & the barely grilled broccoli with sunflower seeds did not give us the impression of eating Greek cuisine. I have been to Greece three times, so I have some reference in this regard.
The espresso was very good. Dessert was offered by our waiter, Omarino, who truly did his best to make us happy. There is absolutely no complaint regarding the service - it was welcoming, attentive, & pleasant.
What was most disappointing was the final bill of $194 for what we felt was only average food. Considering that it is a bring-your-own-wine restaurant, nearly $200 for two fish dishes felt excessive to us. In our opinion, the price does not justify the quality. My husband & I do not mind paying more for a meal, but the quality must reflect the price, which we felt was not the case here.
Additionally, the bathrooms are in need of a significant upgrade.
Once again, the welcome & service were very nice, but overall, the experience did not meet our expectations given the cost.
Absolutely loved Petros in Griffintown! The cozy atmosphere, incredibly friendly service, & delicious food made for an outstanding experience. Marino was our waiter & he was fantastic, attentive, warm, & always one step ahead of our needs. The seafood, especially the grilled octopus, was unbelievably fresh & perfectly prepared. This place has definitely become one of my new favorites. Highly recommend
Petros in Griffintown is a great-looking place-nice decor, chill vibe, definitely a good spot to sit down & feel a little fancy.
We ordered a few appetizers: the grilled calamari was amazing, the Greek salad was fresh, the fried zucchini was okay, & the sardines were… just there. Tasty overall, but the prices for apps were way too high.
For mains, we got the lamb chops & the chicken. The waiter hyped the lamb like it was life-changing-it wasn't. Dry & underwhelming. The chicken, on the other hand, was the star of the night-juicy & full of flavour. Fries? Soggy & sad.
All in all, Petros has great atmosphere & a few hits on the menu, but it's a mixed bag. I'd go back but not for the lamb chops & the fries.
Service was good overall, the waiters are easy & attentive. Felt like we aged a bit waiting for the mains.
We brought our Greek friends here & had an amazing experience! From perfectly executed flaming saganaki to a giant flavourful Greek salad to deliciously fried calamari to wonderfully grilled fish, our charismatic server Marino made the evening! We'll be back.

Our first time at Petros Griffintown was such a great experience! From the second we walked in, the staff made us feel super welcome-like we were old friends dropping by. The vibe was really relaxed & comfortable.
The food? Absolutely delicious. We started with the grilled octopus, which was a perfect way to kick things off. Marino, our server, was awesome-he gave us great recommendations & really took the time to explain the dishes. Thanks to his personal touch, we ended up with the perfectly grilled fish & some amazing lamb chops. Both were spot on!
If you're looking for a place with tasty food & friendly service that feels personal, Petros is definitely worth checking out.
My wife & I had a slew of appetizers for dinner & man was the food good & fresh here! All the seafood was super fresh! From the grilled calamari, to the grilled octopus, to the grilled sardines! Plus, the grilled vegetable side dish should not be missed
Last night, I celebrated my birthday at Petros Griffintown, & I couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening. Surrounded by my closest loved ones-my mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, & my amazing girlfriend-we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience, made even more special by the impeccable service of Marino, our longtime server whose warmth & professionalism elevated the entire night.
A BYOB place with excellent fare, we began with the mixed pikilia platter, a vibrant spread of Greek delights-crispy spanakopita, creamy dips, briny olives, & other flavorful mezze that immediately set the tone. This was followed by tender grilled scallops, beautifully presented in a rich & aromatic Greek tomato sauce that had us all savoring every bite.
For our main course, the kitchen truly outdid itself. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned & grilled to juicy perfection. The salmon was flaky & delicate, while the giant shrimp brought bold Mediterranean flavor to the table. & the filet mignon brochette? Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth.
Petros Griffintown delivered a meal-& a memory-that I'll treasure for years. If you're looking for a place that combines heartwarming hospitality with world-class Greek cuisine, look no further. Thank you to Marino & the entire team for making my birthday so special.
Ordered on DD, & everything was absolutely delicious! Lamb chops dinner with freshly grilled veggies 🫶🏻 Spanakopita with tzatziki also very good. Pricey but worth it!
Had the most amazing experience here! Our server Marino was exceptional & friendly. The lamb chops delicious, 4 per serving with vegetables & potatoes. The grilled chicken was juicy, thick, & also served woth potatoes & vegetables. Was our first time here & definitely not out last. We will be making it a date night location.
Finally we had a fantastic experience at this restaurant located in Montreal! It was our 1 year anniversary & the seafood platter for two was delicious, especially the grilled octopus. Special thanks to our waiter Marino for the exceptional service & hospitality! Hope to come again for sure.
We dined at this location on January 2, 2024. We had a reservation for 4 PPL & though we arrived 10 minutes apart from each other, we were seated at different tables even though both parties mentioned the name of the reservation. The waiter did not really know what to suggest as he couldn't even describe the differences between a snapper, a porgy & a seabass. We ordered the grilled octopus (which arrived cold) & the Mikonos salad which was supposed to have fresh fennel & figs & I couldn't find any in it . It was essentially a chopped romaine salad with what tasted like a raspberry bottled dressing with a half strawberry on top for $26. Our meal was supposed to come with Greek Potatoes & Grilled Veg & I wish I had taken a pic to attach to this review but I received the equivalent of one small piece of zucchini, one piece of eggplant & a pice of pepper & 2 small grelot potatoes. When asked why I didn't receive the traditional Greek potato wedge drenched in lemon juice & spices, I was told that the grelots were a good price that week so that is what the chef prepared. We asked for the proper potatoes & we were brought 4 wedges, 1 wedge each. If you are looking for a mid to high end dining experience, this is not the place however the prices do not seem to match the experience here. If you want the consistent quality with matching service, stick to the OG restarant that starts with a M & ends in ILOS.

the cookery on the seafood platter was exquisite. Greek salad was so delicious, served at perfect temperature so vegetables are sooo tasty. If you are craving octopus, calamari & grilled vegetables try this restaurant!
Absolutely delighted with our visit to Petros! This place takes your taste buds on a Mediterranean vacation – the tapenades were so good they might just have a secret dance routine. 🕺🫔 The grilled calamari & fresh fish were so flavorful, I half expected them to serenade us. 🎶 & can we talk about the atmosphere? It's like they've bottled the sea breeze & sprinkled it around. 🌊 Plus, our waiter Marino, aka "le petit portuguais," deserves a standing ovation for making the experience even more memorable. If food were art, Petros would be a masterpiece. 🎨
Richard: had a great dinner at Petros on Griffintown with two friends visiting from Toronto. We had zucchini chips with tzatziki, flamed, wonderful grilled octopus, succulent & share a nicely cooked sea bass & an order of lamb chops, served with a side order of potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower. The great food was only exceeded by our first class waiter, Mareno. He helped make the evening extra special with his good humour & tremendous service. Can't wait to go back. The BYOW feature is also most welcome.
Lovely evening. Great service by Marino. Loved the Petros zucchini & the Greek salad. Also the grilled octopus. Delicious grilled shrimp. Tender & delicious lamb shank.
