Petros Laurier is widely celebrated as a premier destination for authentic Greek cuisine in Montreal, consistently praised for its exceptionally fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. Guests frequently highlight the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, which, combined with attentive and personalized service, creates a memorable dining experience. The staff and management are noted for their genuine warmth and dedication to ensuring every visitor feels appreciated, making it a highly recommended choice for both casual outings and special group celebrations.
We were a big party driving straight up from New York, & Petros on Laurier was the first place we sat down. After hours in the car we just wanted somewhere warm & good. We got both.
The welcome was immediate. Nobody treated us like a loud table of tourists who had just rolled in. The staff were kind in that unforced way that's hard to fake. They didn't flinch at the size of the group, didn't rush us, & didn't make us feel like we were in the way. Our server walked us through the menu, asked what we were in the mood for after a long drive, & helped us order for the whole table instead of pushing the most expensive plates. When we said we'd come from New York, he smiled & said,'Okay, then we have to do this right.' That set the tone for the whole night.
The food was excellent. We started with the Petros Special - lightly fried zucchini & eggplant with tzatziki - & a saganaki that came out golden & bubbling. Then the table filled up: steak, lamb chops, & fish. The steak was cooked the way you hope it will be after a long drive. The lamb chops had that charcoal taste you want. The fish - a whole Mediterranean sea bass - was clean, simple, & done exactly right. Lemon potatoes on the side disappeared first. Greek salad was the real thing: ripe tomatoes, cucumber, good feta, oregano, olive oil. Nothing fancy for the sake of being fancy. Just properly made.
Portions were generous without being sloppy. For a big group that arrived hungry, that mattered. Everything tasted like someone in the kitchen actually cares.
What stayed with us most was the people. Every person who came by the table - server, runner, the person who cleared - was gracious. Not performative hospitality. Just decent & attentive, even with a large party that had driven straight in & made this our first meal in the city. At the end they sent out baklava & a little extra something without making a speech about it. We left full, a little surprised, & already talking about coming back the next time we're in Montreal.
Five stars. If you're coming into town with a crowd & you want Greek that feels like a taverna instead of a concept, go to Petros Laurier. We drove up from New York, made it our first stop, & we'd do it again tomorrow.
Absolutely amazing. It was hands down the best outing I had in a long time.
I value great service so much, & this place topped my expectations, no exaggeration. Joe, our waiter, was extremely helpful, kind, & genuinely happy to be here & assist us. We were served some extra starters because they knew we were celebrating my friend. &, THE WHOLE CREW sang & clapped happy birthday for her, with special music. I'm talking the owner & more than 6 waiters clapping for her. That moment was priceless!
Other than the amazing vibes & the warm atmosphere, the food was INSANE, again, no exaggeration. The dips were tasty & rich, the fried zucchinis were sooo good & addictive. The fish & lamb chops were DELICIOUS.
All I'm saying, if you're looking for a place to have a good time, where service is beyond great & genuinely caring, with food that is sooo good but feels like you're eating at your Mediterranean mom's kitchen, GO THERE, & ask for Joe to be your waiter!!!
Amazing food with amazing service from Dimitri the waiter or chef (unsure). Went on a quiet Sunday evening so I know the service is at ther best. I really appreciated the service he provided & instructed me on how to consume Greek food in a proper way. For the entrée, I took the Salade de Betterave, then for the main course I went for the Fried Calamaris & Petros Special fried zucchini & had some fish wit rice & vegetables. Food taste was very good but I was very full to I decided to take-out what I couldn't eat. I finished everything the next day!
Our first time, & already can't wait to return!
We indulged & tasted so many different plates with our friends. Each plate was fresh, delicious, & well plated!
Among our favorites: fried zucchini, octopus salad, lamb chops, & Chilean Sea Bass!
Awesome evening!!
Thank you
Went for a work dinner & everything was very good maybe just a tad slow to come out but considering we were a table of 20ish on a saturday evening it can be forgiven!! Entrees were great with a lot of options to pick from! Loved the fried zucchini & spicy feta dip. The chicken was just juicy enough for breast with a nice smoky taste, sausage was good too but the pork was lacking in taste (was dry with a yet watery taste). Salmon was a bit too dry to my liking but the fried fish (assuming its cod) was very fresh & not too greasy. Veggies could've been a bit more cooked as the brussel sprouts were still quite hard. Dessert I'll say was a bit underwhelming, little dough balls similar to what we know as'mr puffs' but not much flavor going on served with fresh fruits. Overall really like my meal & evening there & would recommend to others as well all thanks to our server Maxime!!
We really enjoyed our dinner. The service was excellent. I don't think a waiter has ever shook our hands when he or she introduced themselves. Alex did. Even after post covid, it was nice. There were 2 other waiters, sadly I can't remember their names. We ordered pikilia plate, the fried zuccini/eggplant tower & a large Greek salad. All were delicious. The pita with the pikilia is yumm! As main it was fish, 2 whole, 1 filet, they come with potatoes, rice & veggies. It was a lot of food for 4. One would say the price is on the high side for greek food. Judge it on quality, rapid service, & a nice ambiance. The only small negative comment would be the olive oil with balsamic they serve with bread first thing, the olive oil is bitter, there are much finer Greek olive oil on the market. Easy to fix.
Really cute setup & decor to replicate the vibe of a Greek restaurant in Greece. especially with the fish bucket in ice. Tried mainly entrees & here are my recommendations: the Petros special its fried zucchini with Tzaztzki. the portion of this one is pretty big. Also loved the Grilled octopus, calamari, fried morue & fried cheese with ouzo flambé. will definitely come back to try the mains next time. Second time here with the big family. Tried new stuff like fish & chips. Spanokapita was delicious. The beets salad & eggplant dip really perfect as well as the grilled calamari
Bumped into this restaurant by coincidence & it was a lovely surprise. The food was great: the fried zucchini with tzatziki & the grilled seabass were great. Service was very good as well. I will definitely come back again.
