Top experience.
Good food & a cool diner vibe, BUT the service & billing experience completely ruined what should have been a nice meal.
I had a really frustrating experience here. I was upsold a drink that I didn't want after being told that adding it would actually make my total $0.25 cheaper because it would complete a combo. I was confused by this, so I specifically clarified before agreeing, & I was told that yes, my total bill would be $0.25 less if I added the drink.
That is not what happened. After paying, I realized that I had actually been charged several dollars more than I would have paid without the drink. Even accounting for the taxes, the explanation I had been given clearly did not match what I was charged.
What made the situation even worse was that I was not given a receipt. When I asked for one, I was told they were unable to print it & was instead asked to show my credit card statement to prove how much I had paid. When I explained what had happened, they were unwilling to take responsibility & essentially told me that I must have misunderstood. A manager eventually came over & gave me an apology that felt very insincere, but offered no explanation or solution.
& unfortunately, that wasn't the only issue. Our poutine took about 40 minutes to arrive. We only received it after we asked whether it was going to be ready soon. At that point, the server asked me for my receipt number, despite the fact that I had never been given a receipt, & she knew this.
The food itself was good, & the old-school diner atmosphere is really cool. But being told one price, charged another, not being given a receipt, & then having my concerns dismissed made this an extremely frustrating experience. I left feeling like I had been deliberately upsold & then brushed off when I questioned the charge.
This place has the distinction of being a favorite spot for Celine Dion & many other famous Canadian & international celebrities. Here, you're in for one of the most delicious burgers & poutines of your life, all while enjoying a warm & cozy local atmosphere.
Jacqueline is always ready to welcome you with her warm smile & hospitable personality, & she always remembers your favorite order. She prepares her handmade burgers with love, offering a unique flavor that sets them apart from any other burger. The fries used for the poutine are freshly made on-site, which, in my opinion, is a big plus. The setting is local, incredibly welcoming, & her young, friendly staff are both polite & kind.
