This is the pasta restaurant I've been dreaming of & that comes closest to the authentic homemade pasta that I had in Italy. We skipped the appetizers so that we could try all three of the daily pastas: spaghettoni al ragù d'anatra (thicker spaghetti with a ground duck sauce), casoncelli mantovani (pasta stuffed with squash & coated in a brown butter sage sauce), & ricotta gnocchis in a parmesan & pomodoro sauce (they were like little pillows!). Each pasta dish was cooked to perfection with the right texture & the right balance of flavours. I debated reordering the casoncelli mantovani but refrained since I was trying to be responsible!
We finished the meal with the tiramisu, which we agreed was the best we had ever eaten.
Beautiful wine selection & the service was also really great. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really vibrant, maybe a little too loud for our tastes but totally acceptable given the excellent experience overall. The prices were VERY reasonable for the quality of the meal. I can't wait to return.
Pasta Pooks was amazing! The fresh pasta was great, you can tell its all high quality ingredients being used - the tiramisu was delicious! Our server Margaux was so kind & welcoming - would highly recommend & will definitely be going back!
Im very disappointed by this place. First, the place is very small & loud so I suggest you the take out. The service is very slow, we wait almost 30min for our take out outside & they forgot our order & didn't mentioned it at all. The pricing is very very high & I would have expected a bit more quality for the service. Concerning the food, it was ok, the tiramisu & the bred antipasti was very good but the Ravioli & Bolognese was missing of flavors. & again, when you see the pricing it's pretty high for what is it especially when the portions are that small. Doesn't really worth the hype, I won't go back.
This restaurant is on another level-the dishes are made in-house with incredible attention to quality & freshness. The ingredients were top-tier, the flavours were layered & bold without being overwhelming-just the way real Italian food should be.
The ravioli was absolute perfection-& the gnocchi was melt in your mouth delicious.
Having grown up with an Italian grandmother, I truly appreciated the unique, thought out selection of entrees. I've been to plenty of Italian restaurants, but here I found dishes I'd never seen before-creative & inspired takes, rooted in tradition, not trend.
& then came dessert. My boyfriend & I shared the panna cotta & tiramisu. No exaggeration-it was the best tiramisu & panna cotta we had ever had! The layers, the texture, the balance of flavours was exquisite.
A special shout out to Emma & Margaux for providing warm & attentive service. It made the experience even more memorable.
Hands down, the best place for fresh pasta in the city. If you love fresh, quality Italian dishes made with heart-check out Pasta Pooks.
A very casual, small pasta shop that focuses on producing homemade high-quality pasta dishes. It's a nice addition to Montreal's Little Italy neighbourhood. The menu is very limited with only 3-4 pasta choices, & I wasn't able to order the gnocchis for takeout for some reason. But I was able to find a dish I liked, the spinach ricotta ravioli. Which to be honest, was absolutely delicious & quite filling that it literally melts in your mouth! However, in general, I think the portions are on the smaller side because the restaurant seems to be focused on the quality of ingredients. I would go back again since they seem like they switch up their menu every few months, but I was disappointed the outdoor patio wasn't available when I went to the restaurant. Therefore, it might be better to order takeout since the restaurant has limited counter seats & can get quite cramped during the busy hours. I recommend eating at the nearby Little Italy Park, as there are tables available.
Delicious & high quality food. However, we got a pasta dish & were very disappointed by the serving size. It almost felt like they forgot half of it. The sandwiches & salads were very generous though.
