Review Summary

Pasta Pooks is widely celebrated for its exceptional, high-quality handmade pasta that many visitors describe as some of the best they have ever tasted, often highlighting dishes like the ravioli and gnocchi. While the vibrant atmosphere, attentive staff, and carefully curated wine list contribute to a memorable dining experience, opinions are divided regarding the portion sizes and overall value, with some patrons finding the dishes too small or expensive for the price point. The restaurant's popularity frequently leads to long wait times, limited seating, and a cramped, noisy environment that can feel uncomfortable for those expecting a more relaxed meal. Although experiences with service and comfort can vary, the restaurant remains a sought-after destination for those prioritizing authentic flavor and fresh, seasonal ingredients in the heart of Little Italy.

Honestly the food is good here, not mind breaking but still harty & delicious. Love the freshness of ingredients. I was visiting from out of town for a couple days & dropped by. However, I experienced quite a painful wait for my food & noticed other tables being served before mine.

It was 26+ that day too, so sitting in a tight space for over 40 minutes after the appetizers with zero AC was a bit much for us. I noticed the server communicated to others that there was a wait or something (Je parle francais en peu), but she never came to my table. The appetizers came within 15 minutes, a little slow but not as concerning as the main dishes. Overall wait time, slow service, & heat was led to this lower score (it felt much hotter inside than outside), would be sitting around 4/5 otherwise.

Otherwise, the experience was okay. Giving the place the benefit of doubt & leaving my rating at 2 stars assuming this was a one-off. Still worth trying on a cooler day I guess!

Go for the pasta, skip the apps & casse-crute. Gnocchi was exceptional. Tiramisu was also a standout.

Went with my pregnant wife to try out their pasta. We ordered only a main course & stayed with water. Following this order it seemed like we had been forgotten. I asked mid dinner for some bread, I had to ask twice because even after waiting 15 minutes it still wasn't there. We had to ask for refill of water, which only happened once I paid the bill. Throughout the meal I had to use our own bottle of water to refill my pregnant wife's glass, while I remained with an empty glass.

The waitress didn't even seemed that busy & this clearly was an example of a waiter/tress that prioritize customers that order alot over other customers.

At the end of the meal, when I paid, I was criticized by said server for asking twice for the bread, which ended up being charged. Being criticized by staff over the fact that I had to ask twice for bread is absolutely unacceptable. (If I have to ask twice, in an italian restaurant, for bread then theres a problem.)

Tipping options also start at 18% but you can still decided to opt for an amount which I did. I left 11% just so the waitress wouldnt be losing money over my table but that was it. After being criticized I really felt like leaving nothing.
Only reason why I gave 1 star was because of the pasta, which albeit the small size (hence why we asked for bread mid course), were good.

Overall 1/5. Will not come again & wont recommend.

Holy Fooks! The pasta is on a different level here! Italian New Yorkers come here to learn how to make pasta! Incredible homemade pasta! The Spaghettoni alla Gricia gave me goosebumps! 2nd time here & will be coming back whenever I want pasta in Montreal!

La nourriture est toujours excellente avec des plats saisonniers. Margaux (ou Margot ?) donne aussi un service réellement exceptionnel. De bonnes recommandations & surtout très gentille. Ils ont aussi une carte des vins très intéressante.
