I was here two years ago & had the best meal ever, the Maritime Poached Egg. However, when I returned this year the menu completely changed & the portions were half the size. I couldn't find the order I had last time, so I just ordered something else, the foie gras. It was okay, not as special.

I saw so many recommendations on social media to come to Le Passé Composé for brunch but I was left incredibly disappointed. Right off the bat, upon making reservations, we had to wait over 15 minutes to be seated when the restaurant was not even full. Once seated, our waiter was very passive aggressive & unaccommodating. Many of the dishes were unavailable to eat. I wanted to order the gaspor grilled cheese without the bacon because the other grilled cheese had brussels sprouts which I explicitly told the waiter I really did not like. The waiter very defensively told me'the chef doesn't want to make you a grilled cheese without the bacon. just order the mushroom grilled cheese-you won't taste the brussels sprouts.' Needless to say, I got burnt toast with brussels sprouts & a drizzle of cheese-a flavourless joke of a grilled cheese. Not to mention it took over 40 MINUTES to be served the food & all of it came cold!! My boyfriend asked if his meat dish could be made without dairy products & the waiter rudely replied that'he can't just change the chef's dishes how he pleases.' Super pretentious service for mediocre food & preposterous prices. Would not suggest this place unless you feel like being talked down to & waste your month's rent on dishes that a toddler can make.
Really really disappointing. The menu sounds great, but every dish was bland & tasted the same. Coffee like dishwater. Cappuccino came out room temperature. One person's dish came out 10 minutes after everyone else. The tables were way too close together so we were being bumped by waitstaff the entire meal. To top it all off it wasn't cheap :(

The ambiance struck the perfect balance between opulent & intimate, with soft lighting that made everything feel like a beautiful secret.
The service was impeccable without being intrusive. Our server seemed to anticipate our needs before we even realized them.
The flavors were bold yet perfectly balanced, textures played off each other in delightful ways, & the presentation was stunning without feeling overly fussy.
I've been going to this restaurant for the past few years & have always had a great experience. The food has been delicious, the ambiance is great & the service as well. However, during my most recent visit this weekend, I ordered what I usually order, the foie gras poached egg, & I was disappointed to say the least. I'm not sure what has changed but the egg was cold, the foie gras was tasteless & the bread was dismal (honestly SO BAD). I'm not sure if there was something happening that day or not but I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon. At least the coffee & tea were good 🥲
Golden confit duck & silky bone marrow piled onto country-style bread, crowned with a perfectly poached duck egg that spills like velvet. Earthy chanterelles, sweet green peas, manchego shavings, & a creamy tarragon sauce tie it all together, finished with herb-salted crumble & fresh mizuna shoots.
Rich, comforting, & just refined enough to feel like a slow celebration rather than a meal. #RestaurantBrunchLePasseCompose #Montreal
