Review Summary

Palais D'Ajit earns consistently positive reviews for authentic Indian flavors, generous portions and fair prices in a cozy Verdun setting. Diners describe a warm family vibe and friendly, patient service that makes newcomers feel welcome, with BYOB options noted by many. The menu blends South Indian options with beloved classics, and favorites include butter chicken and a rich thali, samosas and dosa, with highlights such as honey gobhi, paneer masala with garlic naan and buttered shrimp. Takeout and dine in are both popular, with meals described as fresh, flavorful and satisfying, often served promptly. The interior is described as unpretentious rather than lavish, but the atmosphere remains welcoming and comfortable. Overall Palais D'Ajit is regarded as one of the top Indian spots in the area for consistent quality, flavorful curries and good value, with many reviewers noting they would return regularly.

Work in the area & heard good things so decided to try for myself at lunch.

The inside ambiance are nothing special, a little dark & dated, but warm & also authentic. Upon entering you are pretty quickly greeted & welcomed warmly by the staff & you can pick your own table.

After speaking with the waitress I decided to go with veggie samosas & the butter chicken thali plate. I was feeling ambitious.

I thought the samosas were delicious. The are extremely heartly, dense with filling & pretty heavy in a good of of well seasoned & rich but 2 before a main is a lot & I can eat.

Now the main event was also excellent. Thalli plate comes with assortment of small portions of butter chicken, curry , papadam, naan, rice, a tandori chicken leg & a little salad. Everything was delicious, the tandori chicken in particular stood out for me but the naan & butter chicken was great as well. They can lose the salad but it doesnt hurt.

Overall it came pretty quickly, was fresh , tasty, great portion sizes & variety. I was happy with service, food & reasonable price. Ill be back.

Delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices & portions, what's not to love? Also, it's the only place in Verdun that sells dosa, which is a big plus in my book. We've been twice & everything has been wonderful. Lamb & chicken are tender & juicy, the samosas are stuffed to bursting, the rice is fluffy, the raita & mango chutney are the perfect accompaniment to many of the dishes & the mango kulfi dessert is the perfect way to end your meal.

Everything on the menu is mild to moderate (at least in my opinion) in terms of heat & spice; even dishes such as the jalfrezi & vindaloo, which should be very spicy, are only moderately so. I guess (like so many other restaurants) they've had too many customers tell them to "make it spicy" only to then complain that it was too hot, so they've had to keep everything in the mild to moderate range. Having said that, if you ask for your food to be very spicy, they'll be more than happy to kick up the flavor & the heat of whatever dish you've ordered.
