Osmo X Marusan occupies a distinct underground space defined by an industrial aesthetic and a lively, resonant atmosphere. The menu emphasizes Japanese-inspired snacks such as crispy karaage and savory katsu sandos paired with delicate tamago. Guests encounter a selection of matcha and hojicha lattes prepared with deep, earthy tea profiles that balance the bold textures of the food. The venue integrates an expansive outdoor terrace that contrasts with the enclosed, modern interior design. Vibrant musical selections fill the space, contributing to the energetic environment that defines this unique hangout. These features combine to create a singular experience where minimalist architecture meets traditional flavor profiles in an unconventional setting.

Osmo X Marusan is widely recognized for its unique industrial bunker-style aesthetic, beautiful natural lighting, and vibrant, music-heavy atmosphere that attracts a steady stream of students and socializers. The café is frequently praised for its high-quality matcha, hojicha lattes, and Japanese-inspired menu, with many patrons highlighting the egg and katsu sandwiches as satisfying highlights. While the interior design and overall vibe are consistently described as a major draw, experiences vary regarding food consistency, wait times, and noise levels. Some visitors find the portions small or the flavors mild, while others appreciate the fresh ingredients and cozy terrace. Despite occasional reports of slow service or crowded conditions, many guests consider it a must-visit destination in Montreal for its stylish environment and distinctive drink offerings.
This fine venue is highly impressive because of the massive number of options it has. There is a great option for every single guest who arrives at the space. The general vibe feels remarkably kind, welcoming, & positive. The staff acts fast & delivers great service. I am fully intending to visit again to see the rest of it.
Service très lent (40 minutes pour un seul sandwich). La nourriture n'est pas très gouteuse, un bloc monstrueux de porc assez fade & un peu de salade entre deux tranches de pain blanc.
You will be pleased by the massive list of options featured at this incredible spot. There is a perfect option for each individual who decides to check it out. The ambient mood is incredibly friendly, calm, & pleasant. The service is generally fast & very well done. I will surely return to this location to explore some more items.
I came here just after 2 p.m. specifically for the egg sando, only to find out they were sold out. Since I hadn't come up with a backup plan, I let the really kind hostess pick both my sandwich & coffee for me. You order, grab a seat, & wait for your name to be called when everything is ready.
The restaurant is easy to miss. It's set back from the street &, partially hidden behind overgrown weeds & litter. Once you find it, the space is actually below street level & has a retro, almost 1970s bunker-like vibe. There's plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, though some of the less-used furniture & fixtures could use a good dusting.
I ended up with the karaage sando & a matcha. The matcha was strong, which I appreciated. The sandwich was very meaty, though I wasn't a fan of some of the rib meat pieces.
Overall, I'd say it's a hipster hangout with a solid menu. Just be sure to get there before the kitchen closes at 3 p.m. & even earlier if you have your heart set on something specific.
C'est génial!!!! I love a place that unapologetically commits to a vibe. Don't get me started on the loud immaculate music, I LOVE IT. In a sea of the cookie cutter coffee shop, Osmo takes you underground...with a suspended disco ball & delicious lattes & food. I dunno why people bother describing food when yall have mouths & tongues. Don't take my word for it, give your mouth & senses a gift.
I was really excited to try Osmo, which makes today's experience even more disappointing.
I arrived & joined the queue to order while waiting for a friend to meet me. I placed my coat on a table to save a seat, which is something many customers naturally do in busy cafés. A few minutes later another customer came over & told me that because he had ordered before me, the table was his. I politely told him I didn't really agree & suggested he speak to the staff if there was an issue rather than confronting me directly.
Instead, he sat down at the table anyway & got the staff involved. What surprised me most was that the staff immediately sided with him & told me that because he had ordered first, he was entitled to the table.
It honestly left me feeling really uncomfortable & disrespected. Even if that's the café's policy, the whole situation could have been handled with a lot more courtesy & professionalism. As a customer, I didn't feel valued at all.
I ended up leaving straight away without ordering anything, & sadly I won't be returning or recommending Osmo to others. Really disappointing!
