The ghee garlic shrimp & fried oyster mushrooms were sooo good. We also had the lamb with beans, which was really delicious too. I wanted to try their chicken momos, but unfortunately they didn't have it. We'll definitely go back to try more. Oh, & the red bean ice cream sandwiches are a must-try!
Staff was kind. But the food was really really bad. Had read great reviews about this place & really wanted to like it. Not sure if it was the Valentine's Day menu, but the food was really stale & not at all flavourful
The food was not at all edible
The chicken munchurian was very hard & stale tiny pieces of chicken in a soy soup it was very disappointing unfortunately
Thank you so much for the special service in my case (I eat by the gram, & you took the trouble to cut my chicken into the exact grams I needed). It was very pleasant, & I will definitely be back! Dima & the other waiter, unfortunately I forgot his name, but it begins with F. Thank you so much for the pleasant atmosphere & for your patient 😂👌
Oorja is a neighborhood spot, & we love to come here. The cocktails are good, the puns are fine. We like a good goof. They used to have this really beautiful spicy chicken dish, it's still on the menu but recently they toned it down, the dish lost all it's edge & taste. Stick your guns Oorja! We will show up for your og recipes.
I came once & you had me fill out a paper survey at your bar, I wrote « keep your spicey chkn » & you must have lost my paper cause u took out the spice. I even drew u a picture. Damn.
We chose this place after seeing a lot of glowing reviews on social media & decided to celebrate a birthday here. Despite the extremely cold weather & the restaurant being packed, we were seated within 10 minutes. The staff was polite, helpful, & welcoming - no complaints there.
The ambience & vibe are definitely a highlight & set the right expectations for a great dining experience. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for us.
We ordered Chicken Lollipop & squid as appetizers, followed by fried rice, chilli chicken, & majestic chicken for the main course. The portion sizes were shockingly small & completely unexpected. The Chicken Lollipop had just four very small pieces, which felt unreasonable for the price being charged.
This seems to be a common misconception with fine-dining restaurants - smaller portions do not automatically mean premium dining. When customers are paying higher prices, a fair & satisfying portion should still be part of the experience.
Overall, while the service & ambience were good, the food portions left us disappointed & took away from what should have been a special occasion.
Had food delivered on 1st week it was open. Quality & taste were ok. Yesterday dined in. Food was exceptional. Chose duck wings, chicken lollipop, lamb spring rolls, & momo dumplings as apps & the chili/Manchurian chicken, braised pork as mains. Service was very good.
Very very delicious. The majestic chicken is incredible. Drinks are perfect. Hospitality 10/10
So bad I thought I was being punked! Ordered chilli chicken & an asian salad for takeout & received a bowl full of romaine lettuce & a bowl of watery chilli sauce with about three chicken nuggets swimming in it, disgusting!
Place is nice & cozy , food flavour is amazing 10/10 . We had the chilli chicken , chicken momo, & two kinds of fried rice . Everything was delicious BUT the portions are VERY small . You may have to order doubles if you're super hungry .
Solid experience! I came twice, once with family & once with friends. For appetizers, we had the duck broth & manchow broth. From the brunch menu, we had the mushroom toast (scrumptious), mango toast (delish), keema pav (flavourful) & both the spicy crispy chicken & braised pork bao bun sandwiches. Had the chicken momos from the lunch menu. Lovely presentation & delicious taste. Would recommend & can't wait to try the other menu items! Not too busy on Sunday morning/noontime. Nice waiter!
This is one of my great finds in place st.henri near to the metro & the ambience is 🤩. I'd recommend everyone to try the chicken lollipops, the chilli chicken momos & the ghee shrimp, you'll be craving for more. Amongst the drinks it was a big hit -'thriller' &'almost everything cashew'. We did miss out on our last drink but given the crowd & how busy it gets during the evening it's well understood.
I'm a happy customer here being an Indian this indo-chinese fusion menu is 🤗😋🤤
What an incredible brunch experience! The Fresh Mango Salad was refreshing & vibrant, setting the perfect tone for the meal. The Mango French Toast with coconut whip was pure joy-soft, tropical, & heavenly. The Kheema Pav was rich & comforting, while the Chicken Bao Buns were juicy & bursting with flavor. Charan, the owner, was warm & welcoming, making the experience feel truly special. Left with happy hearts & even happier taste buds-can't wait to come back!
very cute little resto. very popular.
interesting drink menu, lots of options.
we were 3 & shared 6 plates. everything was delicious.
the chili momos were much better than the straight up steamed ones, so I would just get the chili one.
lollipop chicken, paneer, hakka noodles, lamb spring rolls. all amazing.
highly recommend
Oorja is a perfect place for a date night or catching up with friends. The ambience is warm & pretty. The food is tapas & flavourful. We ordered manchow soup, majestic chicken, schezwan noodles, chilly momos & couple of cocktails & i must say all are highly recommended. This food is a bit spicy palate which we really loved. Looking forward to try other items in the menu as well.
I am editing my review from 5 to 4 star!!!
On my second visit after a year, I got to see new menu, so now they have reduce the prices & have totally different menu. As the prices are lower I found the quantity of food less too!!
Really miss the old menu!!!
Still I would go for their Chicken lollipop 👌🏻
Overall it's a good Indo-Chinese food place.
Indo-Hakka is actually Indian-style Chinese food. The so-called Indian Hakka cuisine is Indian ingredients & spices + Chinese seasoning cooking techniques. It is a "copycat version of Chinese cuisine" made by Chinese people far away from their hometown. "Manchurian Chicken" is the signature dish of Indian Hakka cuisine. It is similar to General Tso's Chicken. It is a kind of chicken nuggets fried in sweet & sour sauce. I didn't order it! But I ordered fried chicken buns with spicy sauce (chicken chili momo by wok ). Of course, the name doesn't matter. Deliciousness is the king. It's still a good taste. Paired with white rice, it's very delicious! The fried oyster mushrooms are also perfect. The big oyster mushrooms are crispy ,& paired with a special sauce, it's more delicious than meat! Personally, I think this is the first Chinese restaurant in Montreal that doesn't have wonton soup/hot & sour soup. The duck soup has a strong pepper flavor, which is very heartwarming in this cold winter. "Indian Hakka cuisine" is the product of Hakka immigrants. The Chinese who first arrived in India were the same as the Chinese who went to Southeast Asia. They were poor people in coastal areas of China. They crossed the ocean to avoid war or seek better life . From 1772 to 1911, the capital of British India was Kolkata, where the Chinese mainly lived. Food allows people to glimpse the history & culture of different countries & ethnic groups. The food on the plate reveals the secrets of human past & present. I often learn about the world at the table.
I went there on Friday & i was kind of disappointed. It was my second time, & i only went there again because i really enjoyed the food. On Friday, the restaurant was busy. We waited 20 minutes in order to be seated. Once we were seated, we ordered right away. Our food took very long to arrive. It took around 40 minutes & we were just 2 people. So i could say overall the service was really slow & bad. After our food has arrived we ordered spicy mayo which arrived 10 minutes later. But the food was good. We got the majestic chicken, fried rice, paneer chilli & shrimp. Not sure if we would go again.
Went with my girlfriend for my birthday, the service was excellent. Hope ya'll remember us sharing a cake together! If you go, definitely try the chicken lollipops, by far the best dish on their menu. Next time I'll order it twice.
WOW. I live near this restaurant & always wanted to try it, & last night my friends & I walked by & decided to go. We were blown away. Cocktails were 10/10. Food was 12/10. The asian salad, lollipop chicken, dumplings, & main dishes we had (chicken something & braised pork) were literally all to die for. Our server was absolutely lovely, & we soon after found out he was the owner as well. The restaurant is also beautiful. Seriously mad at myself for not trying this place sooner, but we will be back 100%!!! Finally, a really good & reasonably priced restaurant in St Henri!!! Lastly I want to say they were very good about my severe allergies to nuts & fish. Thank you Oorja!
