This is a cosy little corner restaurant with a good variety of Korean dishes. I've been to a fair number of Korean restaurants & Omma had a wide variety of dishes that would appeal to all types of palettes. The dishes are well suited for sharing as well, so it is easy to get some different main courses & divvy them up.
We had a reservation & bar seating was all that was available, which was suitable. When we arrived there were open tables reserved for others. It looked to me like walk-in traffic would be taking a chance, so a reservation is recommended.
I cannot say enough about Omma's cooking. Hands down the best Korean food I've ever had. God forbid, if I ever found myself on death row, I would ask for her cooking to soothe me in my final moments.
The tubu tuigim was perfectly crisp on the outside & incredibly moist on the inside. The bibimbap had the freshest of ingredients that harmoniously mixed together to create a mouthwatering experience of a lifetime. I had never heard a stone bowl sizzle that hot before. The raw egg cooked itself within seconds before my eyes & the intense heat made the best charred rice imaginable.
Through Omma I've regained my faith in god, her cooking is one of Montreal's best hidden gems. After one meal, I love her almost as much as my Korean girlfriend. If Omma ever offered cooking lessons my life would be heaven.
Find Omma for a wonderful evening with your loved ones. We'll be back every week, we'll see you all there.
This place feels even more Korean than Korea itself. The food was absolutely delicious-thank you for the amazing meal!
On a ressenti ici une ambiance encore plus coréenne qu'en Corée. Le repas était vraiment délicieux, merci beaucoup !
It is decent Korean food adapted for western taste-buds. It got really busy & its best if you make a reservation in advance. There seems to be only one service staff & although she was obviously overworked, service was still good.
Great Korean restaurant near place des arts with a very nice menu, interior decor, tasty food & kind service! Highly recommend for homemade Korean food
Lovely Korean place a stone's throw from Place des Arts. Reasonably priced.
Its not a korean restaurant. It is a Korean themed one. If you are korean, do not suggest to go here.
Amazing Korean restaurant! So flavorful, not the *fast food* type. I strongly recommend it! 😊
Cute place, few tables & bar seats with warm decoration, service was good. Not too impressed by the food (beef bibimbap/seafood pa jun/beef yachae). Smaller portions than expected (sub-par portion of meat), banchan (side dishes like kimchi etc..) were not provided like other Korean restaurants, needs to be bought.
The place is nice but the quality of food is not that much good. You can find more delicious foods in other Korean restaurants in MTL & much cheaper. But they had a matcha cheesecake that was really delicious. In general it was nice to go there once, but I won't go again.
Compared to all the Korean restaurant I tried across Canada , this is one of the most underwhelming.
This amazing Korean restaurant is a hidden gem on the corner of Ontario Street & Clark Street in downtown Montreal :) Just a few steps from Saint Laurent metro. Feels like you have walked into a different cozy world with mesmerizing lanterns everywhere. The staff is super kind & welcoming & food is beyond delicious. We had Fried Squid for appetizers & the kimchi was a gourmet's delight. For dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken Bulgogi Bibimbap & others in the group also loved their Octopus Bibimbap as well as Chicken Bulgogi. I know I will be coming back to this restaurant with family & friends again. Would recommend 10/10 UPDATE: Went & tried Pajun for appetizers which were the best seafood crispy pancakes! We also tried out favorite Dol sot Bibimbap with beef, octopus, & spicy shrimp. Also loved the chicken bulgogi which was just as delicious:) For dessert we had the chocolate mousse & mango sorbet:) A fantastic restaurant to enjoy the delicacies of authentic Korean food
Hidden gem of a Korean fusion restaurant near the downtown park; it offers innovative Korean dishes based on fresh, seasonal, & local ingredients. It's not a big restaurant but cozy with very attentive service. Highly recommend.
Great little place near the place du arts, great service, good food & cosy atmosphere. Not completely Korean Korean but very close & for an even more friendly price. I recommend. Only thing its so small that every time the doors open, cold wind enters the establishment
This is a very cute restaurant. Decor is lovely, & I was so hoping to be able to give it a higher score.
The waitress was lovely. She was alone & had a lot to do, but she was great...except for one major error which I will get to shortly.
Started with the Pajun (sea food pancake appetizer). It was fantastic. Amazing flavor & the sauce was perfect. A fantastic start.
The typical starter complimentary salads were great bites, & more would have been easily welcomed.
We ordered a side of their house-made Kimchi. Solid, as you'd expect, very good.
We ordered the beef bibimbap. It was very bland. We only realized AFTER our meal (& my wife asked me not to complain about the lack of flavor during the meal), that other tables were getting their order with a sauce. It came with a sauce; she forgot the sauce. After the meal she apologized...but you'd think that when you render a dish that bad with a huge error, you do 'something' to make good or compensate (hell, even comp the 4$ side order of Kimchi, something). This was not done.
The Dak chicken was general tao-ish. Great veggies, crisp chicken, but kind of underwhelming. Not bad, but would not order again.
Luckily, we had the idea to end out meal with a second appetizer, the chicken wings. Most certainly the best for last. I'd have that again...though unlkely to go back.
2 appetizers, 2 mains, one side, 3 cocktails, tax, tip, $144.
Generally, that is an okay price for a meal in downtown Montreal, but the overal quality & size of portions....I would have expected that to be an $80-$90 meal.
Would I go back? Probably not...simple Korean done right is in abundance in our city & I'd try elsewhere. If I HAD to go back? The seafood pancake & chicken wings could be ordered with ease.
If you are expecting actual Korean food, this is not the place you’d choose.
First of all it’s VERY localised. I’ve tried other westernised Korean restaurants before & I loved them but, not this place. I was worried of ppl who will try korean food for the first time with this place & getting wrong interpretation.
Very good but quite different from other Korean restaurants I've been to - modern mixed with traditional.
