My experience at Om Tibetan restaurant was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
The momos were, without exaggeration, the worst I have ever had. The wrappers were thick & doughy, the filling was bland & lacked seasoning, & everything tasted either undercooked or poorly reheated. There was no freshness, no authentic flavor, & no care in preparation.
The service was equally bad. The waitress was inattentive, dismissive, & unprofessional throughout the visit. Instead of focusing on improving the dining experience, she repeatedly hinted at & directly asked for a higher tip, which made the entire experience uncomfortable & inappropriate. Tipping should reflect service quality, not be pressured out of customers.
Overall, terrible food, terrible service, & an unpleasant atmosphere. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good Tibetan food or even basic customer service.
I had a very disappointing experience here. I ordered chicken & cheese momos, but the taste was horrible & not fresh at all. On top of that, the waitress was not welcoming & didn't seem interested in helping us. Overall, the service & food quality were both very poor. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Momo boeuf bons.
THE best tibetan & Indian restaurant in Montreal. Shaka tsa & momos are absolutely delicious. Everything is delicious
We were warmly welcomed by Gérard, Om's owner for the last 22 years. Although he was born in Montreal, the restaurant is a tribute to his parents' Tibetan culture.
The atmosphere is lovely: it's decorated with some Tibetan art, candles were lit & smooth jazz was playing in the background.
Since we just wanted a light bite, we had the mulligatawny soup & shared some Momos. Wiith a little salt, the soup was very good. The Momo's were tough to cut but good. We preferred the mint sauce to the tamarind sauce.
It was really interesting to speak to Gérard, who said that he's been there so many years that he has seen children grow up & become adults who come to the restaurant on their own! He was very friendly & open.
We were there close to closing time on a Sunday evening so it was quiet. I'm guessing it gets busy at other moments!
Super friendly, cozy vibe, DELICIOUS FOOD!
The momos & the chili chicken were amazing :)
I'm very surprised by all the perfect ratings. Service people were kind & efficient, but I thought the food was good at best. We've had three types of bread, two curries & 2 momos of each type, & while everything was alright, I definitely wouldn't give it 5* (& I think all of the 5* reviews had created high expectations for this place, making the let down even bigger). So I advise of still trying the place out, but maybe not have the expectations coming with eating at an almost perfect mark restaurant.
They offer various vegetarian food options. We ordered the MoMos végétarien (it serves with the soup daal/lentilles) Soup Then Thuk with homemade noodles, Timo (Tibetan bread which they don't use chemical yeast), Naan, & Lassi a la mangue. I highly recommend Soup Then Thuk (it's a big bowl for 2 people) & ⭐⭐⭐Lassi Mangue⭐⭐⭐ is the best ever! I like the fact it's all only tge natural sweet from the mango, they made it freshly & tasty! The price is reasonable also. Definitely will come back to try another dishes! Also thanks to the waitress, she is lovely & friendly! ♥️♥️♥️
I went to this place seeing the Google reviews. Kindly don't add false reviews here! The food was not worth going for, first of all nowhere in Tibet or anywhere we get sweet dip with momos it is always on spicy side. I went with the expections that I would get good momos & chutney, but it was bad!! Chili Chicken was like dal with lots of turmeric & 3 pieces of chicken in it. So after 2 bad dishes I ordered, biryani asked them to make it spicy, but it was full of ginger, pepper, & lots of rasins. The only good thing was their tapped beer.
Delicious food, excellent service & great prices. Can't ask for more. We tried the cheese & shrimp momo's, shrimp noodles, butter chicken, mango lassies & two different type of breads. It was a culinary experience. Thank you again !
// The momos are absolutely amazing, & the owner is ridiculously kind. It's clear how excited he is to share his cooking with everyone who comes in. Great service, very chill atmosphere. I can't wait to come again & bring everyone I know.
I went here on a Thursday night for dinner with coworkers. There were only two other tables occupied We decided to get a selection of dishes & share it all between us. The food was good, some of it was just okay, but the service was stellar & they played funky 2000's music. The food was easy to share & we had a great time here. Our waiter was really excellent. I ordered the Tibetan tea. It contained a lot of butter (which is normal for this tea) but it was too salty for me. The cheese Momos are yummy. & I really liked the Timo steamed bread. The bindhi masala was good but it had too much turmeric for me. & the Ping Sha was definitely too salty.
Delicious & authentic home-made Tibetan Momos. Highly recommend this family owned restaurant. Order a Sha Katsa & a Tingmo & you will thank me!!
This spot offers good Tibetan food experience. The owner, who's incredibly kind & courteous, recommended the Tibetan tea with crushed walnut-a delightful concoction that not only enhances taste but also revitalizes health. The deliciousness of the Tibetan tea is unparalleled. The generous Thenthuk portions exude a homely essence, while the consistently excellent Momos are a guaranteed delight. (If compared to Toronto serving size of momo is smaller) & let's not forget the Tingmo & Phingsha, truly unmatched! If you find yourself in Montreal, this restaurant is a definite must-visit. Your positive experience shines through-it's a place worth cherishing!
