Review Summary

Ohayo Café is a charming and cozy Japanese inspired spot in the Mont Royal neighborhood, widely praised for its aesthetic, plant filled decor, and authentic atmosphere. Many visitors highlight the high quality of the menu, with standout items such as the creamy ramen, Ebi burger, and various specialty lattes, particularly those featuring black sesame and matcha. While the majority of guests appreciate the friendly service and consistent food quality, some have noted that the menu can be on the pricier side and portions or seasoning levels may vary, with occasional feedback regarding food texture or saltiness. The café is generally regarded as a delightful destination for a drink or a meal, though experiences can fluctuate depending on how busy the environment becomes.

Hotaru Ika Mazemen 🦑 Have to say I'm so happy I was finally able to try this amazing season ingredient. These baby squid have been on my hit list for a while & so has @ohayocafemtl since they've opened. . Located on Mont-Royal street in one of MTL biggest food scene sit a amazing little Japanese resto serving up delicious bits for both Brunch & Lunch for all who walk by. . Because I live to far, as I normally do I had to check out a couple of there staples & some specials. First, something I've always wanted to try which was there shrimp burger, end to end delicious & crunchy, great amount of sauce & spice, perfect in every bite. That along with those fries & yuzu Mayo a easy 10/10. . Next we tried there Lamb Mazemen which was a special they were having, great texture for the noodles, amazing portion of Confit lamb that was supper fall apart tender, good amount of heat & another banger. . Last & something I was most excited to try was the Baby Squid Mazemen, almost gave me a little carbonara style vibes because the ramen tasted a little thick & Cheese which I loved, tied with the freshness of the shisho herbs & spicy really tied together the dish extremely well. But I can see how it's not going to be for everyone, some of the baby squids texture is left to be acquired to some, personally I loved it! FOODGASMIC 🦑

Ohayo Cafe, a quaint new place on Mont-Royal, at the corner of rue de Buillon. Blending japanese ideas with a Montreal feel, they offer a variety of favourites. I had the tamago sando 「タマゴサンド」, which to my surprise was served like the fancy French toast you'd find at l'Avenue not too far away. Served on a pair of crisp golden toast, the egg salad is light & flavourful. Butter hits your tongue, as your palate is flooded with subtle flavours of egg, Dijon, & a marinated Sancho pepper- which comes in its pod, in-lieu of the usual slightly numbing powder you get on an unagi bowl. I ordered the sando with a flat white. The coffee, of course, made with the best-in-class La Marzocco espresso machine, gave notes of the soft cascara of the bean. I'm happy to see that Japan's spirit, in their meticulous quality & attention to coffee, has materialized here as well. In all, the duo came to 17.53$, with a 15% tip the bill for 1 came at 20.15$. Which I find reasonably priced for the quality presented. I have yet to try other items on the menu, but rest assured that whilst enjoying my own, I was witness to a room of people enjoying the rest of the menu. Very clearly enjoying their share. 成功を祈っているよ。

We were out on a croissant hunting expedition, & needing a fill of a bigger fill, we were driving along Mt. Royal, & came across this little lovely pleasant place. Service is excellent -- except it's not table service -- it's order at the counter, pay & you get a post with a number for delivery of your meal. Food is really interesting, a bit of a Western take on Japanese food. We had a tamago sando, & I was expecting a tamago, but instead it was an equally interesting delicious deconstructed egg salad. That, & a great chicken karaage. Would I go back -- 100%.
