About

Ohayo Café provides a focused exploration of traditional Japanese noodle craftsmanship through its specialized ramen selection. The kitchen emphasizes the preparation of rich, long-simmered broths paired with precisely textured wheat noodles to ensure an authentic consistency in every bowl. Guests encounter a straightforward menu where the balance of savory umami profiles remains the primary objective. Each dish incorporates carefully selected toppings such as marinated soft-boiled eggs, tender slices of roasted pork, and crisp scallions to enhance the structural depth of the soup. The interior design prioritizes functional efficiency and a clean aesthetic, reflecting the minimalist philosophy often found in Japanese dining establishments. This approach highlights the technical execution of noodle preparation as the defining element of the overall culinary offering within this dedicated space.

Review Summary

Ohayo Café offers a bright, plant-filled atmosphere that provides a relaxing Japanese inspired experience in the heart of the city. Guests frequently praise the variety of specialty drinks, including the matcha and black sesame lattes, as well as the authentic food options like the popular ebi burger, tamago sando, and various ramen dishes. While most visitors appreciate the high quality and craftsmanship of the menu, some note that specific dishes can be perceived as overly salty or inconsistent in flavor. The service is generally described as friendly and efficient, and despite occasional comments regarding pricing or limited seating, the café remains a highly regarded destination for those seeking a cozy spot for a refreshing beverage or a satisfying, carefully prepared meal.

A bright & inviting café, featuring a creative Japanese-inspired menu. I tried the tamago sando (Japanese scrambled egg on toast)-nice!

The coffee was excellent, & the atmosphere makes it a great spot to meet up. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Really impressed by Ohayo Café. As someone from Japan, I'm picky about dashi in noodle soups, & their soba broth was excellent. The flavors were balanced & authentic. The dorayaki was fresh & soft, & the coffee was also great.

Great Japanese café with quality food. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the best coffee shops of 2024 in Montreal!

I was delighted to see reviews like Tastet praise this incredible Japanese coffee shop!

Let's give a breakdown of each aspect of the coffee shop:

Food: From the Mazemen to their ramens, there is a little bit of everything! Their kitchen usually opens at 10:30 am EST. This does not mean that you shouldn't pass by!

In fact, the whole point of this review is to explain how good the coffee & the food are !

I am quite the cortado lover & it is incredible how they are able to take such care of each coffee. Their matcha is definitely worth it & I would invite everyone to give this a go! One of my favorite coffee shops in Montreal is September café because of their consistency & each barista being skilled with making precisely every kind of coffee. This is a coffee shop that is quite close in terms quality of coffee that September café makes.

Which brings me to the food! This is such a delight & it feels like I've gone back to Japan all over again! Rich, comforting! Their dishes are something that I can continue eating all day long especially the mazemen. I strongly recommend trying each of their dish!

Atmosphere: calm, welcoming, peaceful & beautiful! This is the kind of coffee shop that makes you want to stay long hours & enjoy the vibrant & serene place! This is feels like a coffee shop in Copenhagen.

Service: this is where they stand out from most! Incredibly kind, caring & focus, each coffee & meal is being cared for. The owner is incredibly kind & knowledgeable when it comes to coffee (grains, technique & other topics). This is the kind of coffee shop where I would love a James Hoffman to pass by & drink their coffee.

I strongly recommend this Japanese coffee shop!

If you don't believe me, I invite you to read up on food critics like Tastet to see what they think! 😄

Have a lovely day!

Not a specialist coffee place, but they have the best espresso I've tasted in Montreal, plus super-friendly staff
