We came across this spot on our first night in Montréal & it immediately set the tone for the trip. The atmosphere was honestly really cozy, welcoming, & full of that effortless Montréal charm. Our server, Amélie was truly wonderful, so kind, patient, & full of great recommendations. You can feel when service comes from the heart, & hers absolutely did.
The food was incredible - very fresh, flavourful, & clearly made with care. Their specials & salads are next level & the mussels + fries combo was perfect. Everything came out beautifully plated & tasted even better than it looked. The portions were also very generous, & the whole place was clean, warm with a relaxed & elevated vibe.
We loved it so much the first time around that we came back again a second time! If you're visiting Montréal & want a late-night spot with great energy, delicious food, & friendly staff, this place is a must! Highly recommend!
Service was kind, not pretentious, & quick. Food was delectable; the salad & pasta were generous proportions. It was very busy but the staff were friendly & competent despite the rush. Great stop, good cocktails & grub!

I spent two night in Montreal...& I came back to this place twice for 1) good food 2) good IPAs 3) good music 4) & of course a good staff. I like trying new things/checking new places but when you are satisfied there is no need to search further...try the hearty salad or the tuna salad. My Montreal highlights gor dure 🥰
Waited quite bit of time for the food to come out for take out. The food was cold on a 5 minute walk
Ordered: poutine-gravy tasted burnt not even hot enough to melt the cheese
Fish & chips- cold no flavor/fries were burnt
Calamari- soggy
Greek salad- tomatoes where mushy
Visiting from out of town, I had dinner here this past week on someone's recommendation. The meal was great, the bistro pub vibe was nice, but the service was seriously lacking. The cocktail (L'amère pompette) was refreshing & not too sweet, & the duck confit salad was delicious & filling - the duck leg was tender with some nice crispy bits, the salad was not overdressed (as is often the case), & the vinaigrette was really well done - the seasonings were very nicely balanced, not too acidic, not too salty. However, I was largely neglected by my server. I was sitting at one of the few tables available outside, & the tables inside were busy, but didn't seem overly busy. After I got my cocktail, I took my time to enjoy it & the lovely weather, finished it, & then waited, & waited. Finally decided to get the attention of another server to order my meal. When my original server brought out the salad, I asked if I could also have some bread with it - they said no problem, it will just be a few minutes in the oven (& so I was thinking wow, the bread will be nice). The server never came back with the bread, & never came back period. Since the the salad was generous, I decided to not bother asking for bread again, but again, after finishing my meal, I waited. I had to flag my server down so that I could pay the bill. I still gave a decent tip, since I enjoyed the food, but the service was disappointing, especially since it seems that the service is usually good based on the other reviews.
NYKS is a cool-yet-unassuming bistro/pub that surpasses expectations with it's great food, drinks, & service.
We visited NYKS for lunch on a Thursday afternoon in July. There's a few options in the area of Ste-Catherine & Bleury Streets, but we found one of the best.
Upon arrival around noon, the place was coming alive. The staff were friendly & welcoming. We were quickly seated at a high-top table for two on the sidewalk out front, which was rather nice. NYKS had its streetside garage-style windows rolled up, with nice tables set up at the interior's edge that gave patrons inside a cool summer vibe & made passers-by (like us) want to drop in for a visit.
Our server was excellent. Friendly, charming, efficient, helpful. What more can you ask? It was a hot summer day & he quickly took our drink order & ensured that we had refreshment right away.
Before I discuss the unexpectedly excellent food, I'll mention that our server claimed NYKS had the best pour of Guinness in Montreal. I've been to all the best Irish (& English) pubs in the city, & Guinness is'my' beer, so his words raised an eyebrow. I happily put his claim to the test. The best in the city? Them's fightin' words, on a stage of unstable dynamite. But having recently enjoyed Montreal pub crawl experiences (plural), along with my fair share of pints'o the black stuff, I'll say this: I split the G & thoroughly enjoyed my glass. Followed by another.
The food was outstanding & of much higher quality than we expected for an afternoon lunch at an unpretentious bistro. For that matter, the food was as good (or better) than that which had been served to us at some of top-rated places we'd recently visited. A pleasant surprise!
For an appetizer, we had a fabulous'warm seasonal mushroom brushetta.' For lunch, it was an excellent & surprisingly satisfying Niçoise salad, with a generous portion of pan-seared tuna steak, mixed green salad, green beans, tomatoes, baby potatoes, a soft-boiled egg, kalamata olives, red onions, & fresh herb dressing. Also, a very tasty Ratatouille, with added lamb sausage, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, & puff pastry with basil pesto.
All in all, a 5-star lunch.
I've frequently walked past NYKS in the evening & it appeared to be a popular bar for the 5-to-7 & nighttime crowds. Based on other reviews, it seems that's true. But it's also true that NYKS is more than just a bar. It's a great little place for refreshing drinks & an exceptionally nice meal.
Boisterous gastro-pub. I sat at the bar & was well looked after by the bar-tender who mixed drinks, pulled drafts & filled water glasses so deftly, he seemed to have eight arms. The Confit Duck Salad was so tasty, I might go back again tonight!

Great dinner. Attentive service. Great food. We had the Picanha steak & the Duck Confit Salad. Wonderful. Everything was perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not too spicy, beautiful appointed sides to go with both of them. It was a quick dinner for us, but was Great. We will be back. Waitresses & hostess were superb with quick seating & clear directions.
Great, vibrant atmosphere. A little disappointed in the duck salad. The duck was really good but salad missed flavors & topings (a lot of lettuce for a 27 dollar salad. Rest of the food was solid.

Fish & chips were disappointing, the batter had no flavor & was greasy. Sitting on the fries made them greasy as well. The salad was oily & had no flavor. The staff was very good & the ambiance was awesome. I'll go for a bee
Absolutely awesome! It's one of the coolest restaurants/bars I've ever been to. The space was super clean & inviting. The Duck Confit salad was incredible, as were all the beers we had. Staff were generally friendly. They were super quick & attentive. Will definitely be back next time I am back in Montreal

Wow, un vrai bistro pub avec des vrais prix de bistro pub & ce même si c'est ultra downtown. Service d'Audrey & Max au bar power rapide & très cordial. Le gravlax est généreux & frais tout comme la salade de canard. Incroyable d'avoir trouvé un endroit aussi chouette dans un Cartier Des Spectacles aussi surpeuplé. Merci gang !
3.5 stars . Located near me I figured I would give this place a shot for dinner. I ordered the tartare of the moment & it was beef. Good enough but lacked a bit of oophm. My boyfriend got the burger with bacon & cheese but the cheese was not melted so it looked overall cold, he said the taste was alright. The fries & side salad were really good in my opinion! So next time I think I'll try the poutine. The service was great & friendly! I recommend reserving in advance because the place is a bit small & it fills up quick!
Très bel endroit pour un 5@7 sans chichi, l'ambiance est bonne, les drinks sont bien faits & il y a plusieurs choix de bières. Carte des vins juste assez diversifiée. Personnel fort sympathique, surtout Marie qui est derrière le bar. J'ai été un peu déçue de la salade de canard confit (canard sec & grelots pas assez cuites) mais le reste des ingrédients était vraiment frais & la vinaigrette délicieuse alors on va mettre ça sur le compte qu'il se faisait tard pour un soir de semaine🤭. J'y retournerais sans hésiter!
We went here for dinner. My salad with my bison burger was excellent. The dressing was perfect with lots of flavor. Unfortunately my sons' meals were less than good. The burgers were burned to charcoal & the dressing in their salads was oil only. It was very unfortunate but we will go back just not for the burgers.
