Went to this place on a Tuesday with kids for dinner, based on Instagram recommendations. In Montreal for the first time, so lot of our food trips are reliant on reviews & IG.
Kids were super hungry & tired & so we ordered the most basic dishes expecting it will be given faster...

Wow...I was not prepared for that answer. Lol.
Waited for almost 20-30 mins & ended up asking to make it a take out.
It's only after I got up & spoke up, all the apologies started coming in. I know being understaffed during a weekday during holiday season, could be a major problem for the staff. I get it. A heads up would have been great.
The food was not what I expected based on all the Instagram Hype..
Butter chicken was sweet but definitely not butter chicken, something more like boiled chicken in Korma gravy.
Biriyani was salty & did not taste well at all..
We ordered Poonugulu, Cheese Pav Bhaji Dosa, & Masala Uttapam, & unfortunately, none of the dishes met our expectations.
• The Poonugulu was extremely salty & very difficult to eat. Since we were hungry, we ate a few pieces & then informed the waiter about the issue. We even asked the waiter to taste it. However, we were still charged for the dish, even though we clearly did not like it due to the excessive salt.
• The Pavbhaji Dosa was overly oily.
• The Uttapam had almost no salt & lacked proper flavor.
Because of the poor taste & overall quality, we could only eat a few bites of each dish & then had to leave the food there. As we were still hungry & unsatisfied, we ordered food from another restaurant afterward.
Overall, the dining experience was disappointing. When eating out, we expect good taste & value for money, but unfortunately, this visit did not meet those expectations.

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was delicious - fresh, flavorful, & beautifully presented. The owner & staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, & attentive throughout our visit. You can really feel how much pride they take in their service & the quality of their dishes. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food & genuine hospitality. Can't wait to come back!

Honestly one of the best Indian food spots I've tried in Canada. Prices are fair, the place feels underrated, & the ambience is really nice with parking right outside. Deepu was super welcoming & suggested the perfect dishes. Huge thanks to the Chef for making it such a great experience - Will definitely visit again!
Paneer 65 is a must-try if you like spicy food.

On May 14th, 2025, our family of six visited Our Place, a South Indian restaurant that has garnered local attention for its regional offerings. While the ambiance & courteous service set a pleasant tone for the afternoon, the overall culinary experience, though satisfactory, did not ascend to exceptional heights.
We sampled a broad spectrum of the menu-from the comprehensive Thali platters to a variety of individually ordered dishes. The diversity was commendable & the presentation aesthetically pleasing. Some items, such as the sambar & select vegetable curries, showcased the familiar depth & warmth characteristic of South Indian cuisine. However, not all elements met the same standard; the Rasam, in particular, lacked the piquancy & layered spice profile that aficionados of this quintessential dish would expect.
The service, while efficient & polite, did not rise above the ordinary, nor did the overall atmosphere leave a particularly memorable impression. In essence, Our Place offers a decent, family-friendly dining option for those seeking South Indian fare, but it falls short of delivering a truly distinguished gastronomic experience.
In conclusion, Our Place is a good restaurant-reliable & pleasant-but not one that inspires accolades or repeat visits based solely on culinary merit.
Delicious crisp dosa & chutney - really flavourful. I had the masala dosa as didn't have much time but others diners plates looked even better! I will return tomorrow to try other dishes!
I did return to have the Thali & it was not good. No flavour, no spice. Stick to the dosa & you will be more than happy
The food was fantastic & the service was unparalleled! I would definitely recommend trying it over the weekend & get the unlimited dosa buffet for 18.99$ it comes with sauces & few other dishes to eat on the side. Additionally you will get a delicious dose of dosas to satisfy those cravings.

I had their karappodi masala dosa which was on point! My friends ordered the dosa buffed. Thy were a hit too. We loved the service provided by Nikki & are longing to go back to try many interesting dishes on their menu. Must visit place place for Indian food, specially South Indian food.
The mutton biryani was flavorful with tender meat, a perfect balance of spices, & an aromatic fragrance. The portion was generous & well-presented. Chicken 65 was crispy with a good spice level but could have been more tender. Overall, both dishes were satisfying, with slight room for improvement texture. Rating: Mutton Biryani 4/5, Chicken 65 4/5.
We went with high expectations but were, unfortunately, disappointed with just about everything aspect of our dining experience. The food itself was just about average. We ordered a masala dosa & a lamb masala dosa. The good part: The dosa itself which was was perfect. The not-so-good part: everything else. Both fillings were below bar & came in very limited quantity. The potato filling in particular barely had any flavour at all. The sambar was good enough but the coconut chutney was too salty. Overall, the food was just about okay, nothing memorable. As for the service, the good part: the food was served quickly enough; the bad part: there was not much of service at all apart from the food being brought to our table. I think the staff is well-intentioned, just not well-trained. No one came to check on us during the meal, our glasses were not refilled, I had mentioned I'd like to order dessert after the meal; no one came to ask if we were still interested (& we left without dessert) -- & it's not as if it was a busy night. Also, as other guests left, their dirty plates were not removed from the table. There was a point in our meal when I looked around the room & there were at least five tables around me with dirty dishes. It was disgusting. Finally, our request to turn down the music was flatly denied -- because it could only be played at'medium' volume. To make matters worse, their music system is awful & it really hurts your ears when the restaurant is more than half empty (even on a Sat night!). It was a relief to finish our food & get out of the restaurant.
Great South Indian food with some Hakka dishes. We loved the variety of South Indian options that ranged from Kottu Paratha to Idli. The dosa selection is extensive with a 5-feet dosa that is sure to steal the show. We loved all the appetizers we tried, especially the manchurian gobi & chicken 65! The mango lassi is exceptional here, I had two because it was that good! The chef is well known for his South Indian cooking & started his career in a well known South Indian institution in Montreal before opening up his own place. Definitely a nice addition in downtown Montreal
The list of dishes we tried seemed endless but each exquisitely prepared by our very experienced chef. We tried our best to pace ourselves during the appetizers but they were difficult to resist. The exciting dance of complex flavours on the tongue were too tempting to excersize any restraint whatsoever in sampling everything served to us. By the time we reached the giant 3-foot Dosa we knew we had passed our limit long ago & yet, could not stop. Even ordering dessert afterwards. Speaking of which, this was my first time trying Falooda. I loved it & enjoyed discovering a new (to me) dessert. Overall it is a wonderful, comfortable restaurant with an excellent menu, friendly, helpful staff in a very central & accessible location. We will visit again soon!

I loved my experience at Our place! Food was outstanding & service impecable. Recommend their chicken biryani, one of the best I've tried in Montreal! Thank you to our waitress Vrinda she took great care of us & even offered recommendations on best dishes to order.
What a thrill to discover Our Place. I came to love Indian food while living in the UK for 10 years. I have found it nearly impossible to find good authentic Indian food in the US. Our House had many options, especially as I am a vegetarian/pescatarian. The sauces to accompany the dishes were wonderful. Highly recommend eating in or ordering out from this restaurant!
If looking for something light, you would really enjoy this place. Had kaaram Dosa, schezwan zinni Dosa. Both the dishes were delicious. Great place, Good staff. Parking is available on side street.
The food was excellent & Lekhika was so wonderful with explaining the dishes & altering the orders. We ordered Chicken Dum Biryani, Cheese Dosa, Idly & Mysore Masala Dosa. Must visit in Montréal Canada.
