I loved this spot. Beware that there are steep stairs.
My first poutine in Canada. It was what I expected. It went well with the Sterling Chardonnay on the menu.
We enjoyed the smoked meat sandwich also. We split two plates, had a pop & 9oz wine.

This landmark location is one place to visit when you're in Montreal. The city lends its name to this iconic dish & to this place for a reason … which makes it worth a try, just don't even attempt to think about calories or anything related to healthy food habits. The portions are absolutely huge & if you are able to complete & finish the full smoked meat or sausage version of this gastronomically loaded with cheese & potatoes bomb … you are a member of the select group of die hard foodies who live to eat & not the other way round!
The place is usually full of tourists & seems crowded with makes the whole experience even better or worse depending upon your preference. The service is okayish & since the purpose is to stuff yourself with super fatty yet absolutely delicious to die food you just have to dive into the plate & forget about everything else around you… bon-appetite!View more

This is the spot right here! I cannot travel to Montréal without a visit to Montréal Poutine. This was my first time visiting my fav poutine spot in Montreal during the winter season. We sat upstairs & loved it. This spot provides such a welcoming energy with wonderful staff & some good music. The music's on point as it brings you back to what some of us would consider back-in-the-day tunes from - Cindy Lauper, Boy George, George Michael (RIP), Prince (RIP), Duran Duran, & Madonna, to name a few. The ones you just find yourself singing along to. Our entire table sang a couple of times - I caught them! 😂 . My partner ordered a hot dog with his poutine one, of my friends ordered a burger, & the rest of us ordered different poutines. No one was disappointed- yessss! The worst is when you big up a restaurant & your peeps are like, next! That is not the case here at Montréal Poutine because the food is on point! Best poutine in Montréal, in my humble opinion. This visit on March 5th was great, & our server (the young man who had the Jordan's on) was lovely - you would swear we knew him. But nah, just a nice human. If you have the chance to visit, please do. The vibe in the summer is even better!!! Something special about this space. If you don't believe me, make space & time for a visit! We stumbled upon this gem along our walk today in the old port. The portions are massive. We are a bit of poutine snobs & this poutine is top!! The fries are perfectly crispy & the cheese is fresh. Portions are massive & price is reasonable. The smoked meat sandwich was also delish! A great spot for a quick bite without breaking the bank.View more

On peut se douter de la qualité dans un quartier touristique, mais quand même ... J'ai commandé une assiette de smoked meat à 22 dollars, je ne m'attendais pas à ce que ce soit le sandwich à 12 dollar + 10 dollar pour avoir des frites & un bout de chou en plus, je pensais avoir une vrai assiette de smoked meat (& franchement pas mauvaise mais pas incroyable). Au Swartz c'est moins cher, bien plus généreux & terriblement meilleur. Ah pis la poutine même pas du fromage en grain, ça faisait des fils. Une amie a commandé limonade au début du repas, elle a été servi quand on était prêt à partir. On a demandé un couteau au début du repas, jamais donné. Les serveuses n'étaient pas méchante, mais je pense qu'ils sont soit en sous-effectif, soit à la ramasse. Ah oui y a même pas de carafe d'eau dans ce resto... remplissez votre gourde dans une des fontaines gratuite à côté avant d'y alleView more

MTP has great potential. It's a cool space upstairs with a perfect view at the windows for people watching. Their smoked meats poutine tastes good & comes in large portions. The staff couldn't be more disinterested if they tried. They stand around the entire time doing nothing & I had to stare them down to get them to come over & take my order. You won't see them ever again until you catch them walking by. I gave 4 stars because they charge $4 for a cheap & small bottle of water. No tap water available.View more

Cozy fast food joint tucked upstairs in the heart of old montreal. We ordered a smoked meat poutine & a passion fruit mocktail. One poutine was enough to fill both of us up. (Un petit sandwich avec du smoked meat & derrière beaucoup trop de frite pour remplir l'assiette. ) Attention l'Eau est payante !!!( le seul qu'on a fais en 14 jours !!) NO TAP WATER served, shame on the owners, this is supposed to be a family restaurant, not a high end bar I should have read the reviews carefully, I didn't think poutine would be at risk of tasting bland or a shop specializing in it would turn out a poor version. FRIED onions apparently means wet onions as per my picture. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich looked pathetic, I could put out a better version getting my ingredients from Safeway in BC... I'd be okay with all this if the prices were cheap but they're definitely not especially when it's $4 for a 500ml of Esker water.View more

First order of business when in Montreal. Because it's pouring & there's no line here, & it's poutine. To our surprise, the food came out delicious & full of flavors (not sure why the rating is low). Service was quick & the servers were very helpful with their recommendations & friendly. The smoked meat poutine was tasty, the smoked meat sandwich was kind of small. The service was very disappointing. I asked for a glass of water & they said they only had bottled water for $4, but when we ordered cans of soda, they brought glasses with ice, you couldn't have filled that with tap water for free? We all ordered food. Then they said it would take 20 minutes for the food to arrive, took more like 30, there was gravy all over the sides of the poutine, the server stuck his thumb in plate, & we were never brought cutlery or napkins. Sat outside was a bit hot that day but it ended up cooling down as there isn't a lot of a breeze in the courtyard so be forewarned However the drinks are delicious, the smoked meat poutine is something I would highly recommend it is quite salty because of all the salty things that are a part of it but I devoured it Staff was friendly & very helpful & I'd definitely go backView more
