Cash only, French speaking only. Easy to order though. Classic taste & presentation. A do not miss.View more
Monumental & must go to. It was the preferred place of the big families of power.View more
The poutine is worth it all!! It's a hole in the wall in a colorful (seedyish, former red light area) part of Montreal, but the poutine is all that! Perfect fries, melty cheese curds, great gravy. The hotdogs are just plain dogs, but the steamed buns were delicious & the slaw on top rounded it all out. Yes, I was sober as a church mouse. (This place is a popular late night spot. ) It is cash only. They've been in business for over a hundred years & I'm sure it's because of the poutine. It's a dive, & there are no pool tables. It's just a great experience!View more
Propreté un peu à désirer. Hot dog & poutine délicieux 😋View more
Definitely worth having a taste at this iconic hub if you're getting into the city & staying for a late lunch. Ask them to put everything into the hot dog (sans allergies)! Je ne regret rien~View more
Perfect spot for late night eats. Love to support a historical business that's been in business for 100+ years. No fuss interior slinging classic steamies & fries. Delicious dogs & fries. Cash only so make sure to have some handy.View more
What can I say other than it is a must visit when in the area, & there are so many great stops to eat at in Montreal.
This greasy spoon does delight, I had the steamed dog w/onions, poutine & a pop.
The dog was good but my brothers looked better (toasted), it was my brother who insisted we come. I chose steamed because that’s how I grew up ordering, from the old La Scala on Papineau (circa 1976).
I also had the standard poutine & it did not disappoint. I inhaled it & to my surprise, I was not clutching my chest for the next four hours! Good ingredients.
If you do not go to Schwartz’s, come here, there is no pool table, eat standing & you can then truly say that you visited a Montreal institution.View more
The hot dog was great. Ask them to put everything on it. You won't regret it (unless you have allergies of course). The food isn't the only thing special about the place though. Walking in, you'll quickly realize this location is a neighborhood fixture. They have all kinds of people coming in that look like they just got off of work or are in the midst of a night on the town. You can tell many of these people are regulars based on the rapport they have with the staff. Then there's the pictures on the wall. Photos that show the kind of pride they have in their business. I only had one meal there but if I lived in Montreal, I'd like to count myself as a regular. Oh & it's cash only, but they have an ATM.View more
La meilleure poutine! Un monument montréalais qui a fait ses preuves. La salle à manger est petite, mais l'ambiance kitsch & vintage est superbe! Je ne peut que recommander.View more
