While some note that the pricing is on the higher side, the majority of visitors feel the quality of ingredients, such as the wagyu and various unique maki rolls, justifies the cost. The service is frequently described as attentive, professional, and welcoming, with many diners appreciating the staff's passion and helpful recommendations. Despite some minor feedback regarding finding the location or occasional service pacing, the overwhelming consensus is that Momiji offers a sophisticated and delicious culinary journey that encourages guests to return.
I was craving a nice nice out & it happened to be a Saturday. While we are not anti-social we are not keen on crowded restaurants. Normally a night out means Joe Beef or Park, but not on Saturdays. I checked the reservations & it seemed wide open so I booked a 6:30 time slot.
We arrived on time & while there was plenty of action outside, inside the restaurant was quite peaceful & we tu ked away in a quiet corner.
I liked that it seemed to me, even if they had been fully booked, there was nice open spaces & tables weren't mashed together. I wouldn't hesitate to book during busier times given the layout.
I feel like we had to service persons who came to check on us at appropriate intervals, refilling our water & providing fresh plating.
I started with a mocktail as I was driving, my husband got the house brew. The cocktail was very good, a spicy, almost like a margaritas, tart with a kick. I am not sure the dealcoholized tequila added anything? But it was a good drink.
We started with Shrimp Bao & Cod Cheek. The cod cheek was delicious. I was kind of thinking it would be adjacent to Kama but no, but it was fabulous, creamy, salty, all good things. I liked the shrimp bag but both hubs & I would not order it again. It was kind of meh.
Our mains were the box o sushi & stuffs, & 2 making rolls. These were all scrumptious but I was stuffed. I think next time I would only order 1 maki & the box to share.
For 2 people, I think 1 app, 1 maki & the box would be ample. For context we are big persons, so it's not like we are light eaters.
I would suggest budgeting about $150 pp for dinner with a drink included.
I enjoyed our experience very much, staff was friendly & the food was very good.
I went to Momoji by Otto for dinner on a Sunday at 7pm & we were surprisingly the only table there. The ambiance & decor were really nice-definitely a highlight of the experience.
As for the food, it was okay but nothing particularly memorable, especially for the price. The beef carpaccio was quite bland & overloaded with cheese, which threw off the balance of the dish. It lacked flavor overall. The crudo was decent, & the cod cheek stood out as the best item I tried-flavorful & well-executed.
The tasting box felt overhyped & underdelivered. The makis were just okay & didn't stand out in any way. Cocktails were also on the expensive side & not that impressive.
Overall, while the atmosphere was nice, the food & drinks didn't justify the price.
Second visit to Momiji in less than a month - with two different groups - & it was just as memorable the second time around. We were truly impressed by the quality of the food, the incredible freshness of the fish & seafood, & the thoughtful, beautiful presentation of every single dish.
Highly recommend the grilled lamb skewers with chimichurri, the Suzuki Crudo, Sashimi Moriawase, & the Otoro Nigiri - each one absolutely outstanding.
A special shoutout to the Momiji salad, which was surprisingly delightful. Who knew iceberg lettuce could be so captivating?
& to end an already wonderful meal, our favourite was the vanilla raspberry dessert - light, refreshing, & the perfect sweet finish. Definitely save room for dessert!
A heartfelt thank you to Vien & Nick for the warm, attentive, & fabulous service. Most of us will be back again soon!
I've given the food a 4/5, as the second time we ordered the cod cheeks they were slightly tougher than on our first visit. I really value consistency, especially when a dish stands out the first time. That said, every other plate was absolutely spot on & beautifully executed.
The location is a little hard to find as it's outside of the mall. Easiest way from inside the mall is to exit the door near the metro access. Walk down the stairs & turn right - you will see the restaurant.
From the outside parking lot, go up, then down the exterior stairs (near Siamo Noi) then turn right - you will find the restaurant a few steps away.
My birthday celebration at Momiji last night was nothing short of amazing.
From the staff to the incredible food & the attention to detail-even thoughtfully accommodating my friend who doesn't drink alcohol-everything was exceptional. The evening was filled with nothing but wonderful emotions.
To the entire team & all the chefs who took the time to present such beautifully crafted & delicious dishes: thank you. Truly, chef's kiss. The makis were mouthwatering, & the ebi baos & the cod cheek & grilled calamari & lamb skewers were outstanding-chef's kiss again.
Kevin, our bartender for the night, thank you. Your cocktails, mocktails, & deliciously creative shots left us wanting more.
To our waitress, whose name I unfortunately didn't get: thank you for being sweet, patient, kind, & incredibly efficient.
Vien, & everyone who took such great care of my loved ones & me-thank you. You truly made my birthday celebration a night I will always cherish.
We'll definitely be back for more-you can count on that 🙌
I wish I could give 5 million stars !!!! I'm literally in the middle of my meal & JUST finished the cod cheek & my life has changed for good oh my god. Food is so good & drinks are so yum!
i just wanted to say i haven't even gotten our main meal yet but the cod cheek was easily the best thing ive ever put in my mouth & i needed everyone to know about it thank you
Wow! This place was pricey but very tasty. We ordered the kiasendon & all the fish was super fresh & had a sweet, oceany taste. We also had the cod mazemen & the mazemen itself was so creamy & unctuous. The cod was delicious, but was a bit mushy & overcooked. The interior was gorgeous & clean, & the service was top notched. I would definitely come back again if I was ever in the area.
new place in royalmount mall. nice decor. open kitchen. quality of ingredients are top notch & so is the service. impeccable but on the pricey end. must try the appetizer salad, cod cheeks & their rolls. the wings are also a puzzle they keep them intact but the bones are removed!!!
What an incredible experience ! We dropped in on a Thursday night without reservation. We were seated outdoors which was very pleasant. The service by Aimi was impeccable, she was so sweet & professional & all her recommendations were on point.
The crispy shrimp bao (ebi bao) were so tasty, the lamb skewer with chimi churri was perfectly cooked & the gindara mazemem with cod was absolutely incredible - creamy & with perfectly cooked cod.
We are frequent visitors of the Royalmount as we live nearby & have tried many of its restaurants, but this one tops our list !
The foie gras sushi was absolutely fantastic. I never imagined the blend of sashimi, kimbap & foie gras could compliment each other so well. A must try. The sashimi was also very fresh. I also enjoyed their take on the black cod skewers!! Will definitely visit again
