A charming and quaint italian restaurant in the Villeray neighbourhood where the atmosphere is joyful and homy. The homemade pasta-focused menu changes seasonally as it highlights the freshest ingredients available. At the head of the kitchen, Luca Cianciulli offers a very italo-montrealer menu based on quality of ingredients, as does true italian cuisine. The wine list, curated by Catherine Picard is constantly evolving along side the menu and leans toward natural selections.
Reviews consistently praise Moccione as an exceptional Italian restaurant in Montreal, where handmade pasta and fresh ingredients create deeply flavorful dishes and refined textures. Diners highlight standout items like crudo, trout tartare, gnocchi, and a variety of seafood plates, complemented by thoughtful wine and cocktail pairings, though a few desserts and some mains are described as less remarkable and a few dishes feel pricey or portions slightly small. Service is repeatedly described as warm, attentive, and professional, with a cozy, vibrant atmosphere that encourages sharing and savoring multiple courses, and reservations can be hard to obtain. Overall the consensus is that Moccione delivers a memorable dining experience, representing one of the top Italian options in Montreal and a restaurant many guests are eager to return to.
Incredible pasta & delicious Italian dishes, we tried the gnocchi, the tonarelli, a couple entrees & the beef with vermouth sauce & all of it was amazing, the staff was nice & kind with excellent recommendations on food & wine, overall an amazing evening & will definitely be back!
Moccione delivers one of those rare experiences where everything feels effortless & magical. The service was absolutely impeccable-warm, attentive, & genuinely passionate about what they do. The food? Simply extraordinary. Every plate was balanced, comforting, & executed with the kind of precision that only comes from real craftsmanship.
The wine selection was perfectly curated, each glass elevating the dishes like a well-rehearsed duet. & the atmosphere… it's pure charm. Cozy, vibrant, & intimate without ever feeling crowded. It felt less like a dinner & more like stepping into a modern Italian fairy tale-one you never want to end.
Highly, highly recommended. One of the best dining experiences in the city.

Real experience, amazing services, food high quality, loved the prosciutto, love the rabbit, amazing wine pairing... never felt rush to finish our table.. if they could be all like this! It was worth the money hardly earned!
The food was truly authentic & full of flavor, every dish we tried was top class & clearly made with care.
However, the experience fell a little short on the personal side. We were celebrating our anniversary & had chosen this restaurant for our special day, but unfortunately, there wasn't any acknowledgment or gesture to make the evening feel memorable.
We ordered a bottle of wine & would have really appreciated a small touch, even a simple greeting or a sweet gesture, to make the occasion feel special.
At a charming neighborhood restaurant, especially one recognized in the Michelin Guide & with dishes at a higher price point, that kind of personal touch is something you expect & look forward to.
Overall, the food was excellent, but a bit more attention to the guest experience would have made it truly unforgettable.
Excellent food in a small neighborhood restaurant. They recommend 1 appetizer & 1 main course per person. The crudo was absolutely amazing, & their home made focaccia was well appreciated to soak all the leftover sauce in the plate.
They have a very nice cocktail & wine list that we plan on exploring further during our next visits.
Highly recommended.
A1 service A1 ingredients quality A1 ambiance A1 wine list It's all about the IMPECCABLE service & the real authentic italian cuisine with amazing homemade pasta Do. Not. Miss. Absolutely great food. Feels like you are in Italy (coming from an European). Service was great & the wine, too. They even made the effort to create a completely new dish, due to an allergy -instead of just taking out the vegetable. Would recommend 100%.
This has become my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The food is absolutely delicious, wine selection is up to par & the service is outstanding. The quality & portions of the food are very good for the price. Highly highly recommend!!!
This is good, but not falling off-my-chair great. Their ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, the staff is friendly & mostly knowledgeable, but this is not surprising or elaborate food. It's just well-cooked, pretty standard Italian fare. Their wine list is worth a mention, great selection, fairly priced. Would I eat here again? Probably not, as it didn't rock my boat. Is it worth a shot? Yes, you can go. You'll enjoy it.

Restaurant Moccione offers an intimate, cozy atmosphere with a menu that blends traditional Italian flavors with modern twists. Known for its attentive service, but the real charm of the restaurant is chef Luca Cianciulli with his exquisite creations. Featuring dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with pasta being a standout. The wine list is well-curated to complement the meals, & the desserts provide a sweet, creative finish. Moccione is a go-to spot for those seeking an authentic yet contemporary Italian dining experience.
I was wondering what I would do about the 4 star vs 5 star debate here. I would have given this 4.5 had we been allowed half stars. As I am writing this I see that the current rating is 4.8, which is way too high in my opinion. So I will stand by 4, the food was good, but there was nothing exceptional especially considering the price point. There were four of us, the service was amicable but not out of this world & I felt that we waited way too long for our wine especially considering that we ordered it before ordering the food. So I get it it's Luca from Les Chefs & that's why most people want to try the restaurant, but you will not be flagger blasted, certainly not above a 4.5. Personally I wouldn't plan on going back unless someone else planned it, but I live 15 Uber minutes away. Lots of other options at this price point.
My favourite meal in Montreal probably came on my last night. During my pre-trip research, Restaurant Moccione had come up a few times as one of the better restaurants in the city -- an unassuming spot in the PM's riding of Papineau. A bit of a subway trip from downtown, but I thought I would give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's a small spot in a quiet neighborhood, tucked into a corner, but a cozy spot with an impressive walk-in wine cellar. I wish I had come slightly hungrier, as the menu looked all good, but I did have smoked meat earlier in the day. So I decided to not go crazy & order a nice pasta dish: Agnolotti stuffed with beef, mushrooms, jus de viande, parmigiano. It was truly excellent. Every bite rich & flavourful. The pasta cooked perfectly, the mushrooms delish, the meaty sauce rich & flavourful, the parm a nice bit of salt to complement. & it was the perfect size for my limited appetite. I don't often order pasta when dining out, but pasta done right is a real treat & this hit the spot.

Incredible! Really delicious food, & the Slovakian wine on the menu was amazing! Service was also on point. Will definitely be back for another special occasion!
Nice restaurant for a relaxed evening out for dinner. Limited menu options, but everything is very well prepared & delicious. Good wine list. Very good service.
Great restaurant! Service was very attentive, friendly & efficient. The food was of high quality & absolutely delicious from start to finish. Both pasta dishes we had were so good & not at all oily or salty as opposed to many other restaurants. To my surprise the calamari was my favourite dish of the night! They were fresh, perfectly cooked & the tomato sauce that came with it just really tied the whole dish together. Cocktails were also impressive & our waitress made great wine recommendations. Overall a great experience & worth the splurge. Would definitely recommend.
Everything here was incredible. We sat at the bar, & honestly it was the best spot in my opinion! The server recommended an excellent wine with what we ordered for dinner. She also made delicious cocktails. As mentioned in the previous reviews, it's not on the cheap side. But SO worth it! The service was impeccable, & the food was out of this world. I would highly recommend this place!
