Came for dinner on Sunday after a day at the Grand Prix. Overall, our experience, the service, & the food were outstanding. Our server was Emma & she was a total rockstar!!
Even with the restaurant at full capacity over a major event weekend, Emma was able to ensure our water & wine glasses were always topped up, we had timing updates about when to expect the next course of our meal, & she even helped make recommendations for places for brunch the following day. The service was the best we had out of all the restaurants we ate at.
The food was outstanding! We enjoyed the beef carpaccio, shrimps cocktail, ribeye steaks, Monte Cristo potatoes, & ended with the profiteroles for dessert. I could write a whole essay on my obsession with the Monte Cristo potatoes - they are a MUST try! I would make a trip back to Méchant Boeuf for these potatoes alone.
Every element of the meal was spot on! This was far & away the best meal I ate in Montreal during our trip (& we had the chance to enjoy the legendary'duck in a can' earlier in the weekend, iykyk).
If you are in Montreal, do not miss the chance to eat here, & definitely do not skip the Monte Cristo potatoes - seriously it was THAT good!View more
Fantastic experience at Méchant Boeuf. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary & had a reservation after Aura at the basilica.
Our server, Sarah R., offered us complimentary dessert instead of the usual glass of prosecco as she noticed we were looking at the mocktails menu. It was such a nice gesture & we were amazed that she noticed we were not having alcohol before we actually ordered.
We discussed with her our plan to order a filet & a strip steak & she suggested that we might do better to share a porterhouse which would be aged. This was a perfect solution for us - we were able to get the aged steaks for close to the same price as the individual non-aged steaks & the shared dish was a nice touch for our anniversary.
Our mocktails were great (we really appreciate it when restaurants offer fancy drinks without alcohol).The steaks were perfectly done (medium rare) & we especially enjoyed the mashed potatoes with egg yolk. The key lime pie for dessert was delicious (a personal favorite of ours). The food was all very satisfying & enjoyable.
Sarah R. really helped make our night feel special. She was observant, helpful & attentive, but not obtrusive in any way. She provided some of the best service we received on our trip to Montreal & felt very lucky for choosing Méchant Boeuf for our celebration.View more
3 Stars quality across the board, but i demote to 2 stars because of the price+expectation. Boeuf was out of their boeuf cut & various other items - from steaks to wines. They also refused to cook meat rare charred, then brought out a very overcooked medium rare. At this price point I am going elsewhere, although nothing here was bad, per se.View more

Thiis place was fantastic. From service to food. I had the onion soup, & beef short ribs, & my girlfriend had the seafood tagliatelle. It was all delicious. After our meal we had a drink at the bar to catch the hockey game. We enjoyed some khalua Rhum coffees & peroni's. We will be visiting méchant Boeuf again absolutely. We decided to stop into Mechant Boeuf for a drink at the bar since we had eaten a very late lunch while touring Montreal. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely stunning; kudos to the designer. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, & my husband ordered the Le Peche drink. Both drinks were delicious, but the Le Peche was OMG delicious. I took a sip & I still can't stop thinking about it. We then decided to order the salmon dinner which came with brussel sprouts & potatoes. Oh my goodness, it was amazingly delicious. We then got the Brookie dessert which was also very good. My only disappointment is that we weren't in Montreal long enough to have a sit down dinner at Mechant Boeuf, but it's the first restaurant on our list to go to when we return to Montreal.

Méchant Boeuf never disappoints, & our latest visit was no exception! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm & inviting, setting the perfect stage for an incredible evening.
A huge shoutout to our waiter, Valter, who was unbelievably kind, knowledgeable, & professional, truly a top-tier waiter. His recommendations were spot on, his attention to detail impeccable, & his genuine passion for hospitality made our experience even more special. Service like this is rare, & Valter set the bar incredibly high.
Of course, the food was outstanding as always perfectly cooked steaks, lovely wine, & a lively yet cozy ambiance that makes Méchant Boeuf one of our favorite spots in Montreal.

Super beau restaurant, assez chic. On a été très bien servi par notre serveur. La nourriture était très bonne. Mon plat de saumon était délicieux: C'était tendre & croustillant sur le dessus. Le tartare de boeuf & le hamburger de mes amis étaient très bon aussi, & les huitres en entrées aussi. C'était un peu chère, mais pour un resto au centre-ville & pour la qualité des assiettes ça valait la peine.View more

We popped into Old Montreal for New Year's Eve & had the best time at Hotel Nelligan & specifically Mechant Boeuf. The sweetest gal greeted us as the most assertive & helpful hostess. It was so obvious she was committed to seating us promptly. Because we had a slight wait, she sent bubbles to the table. We watched her serve the restaurant in any capacity, attending to tables with drink service & a smile. Our waiter, Valter, was efficient & patient with a very difficult table next to us, & we noticed many pleased patrons under his service. Absolutely top notch service from entry to exit!! I had a great experience with Mèchant Boeuf for their first night of their MTLàTable menu at 65$ The food was amazing. I highly enjoyed the scallop appetizer. The aïoli was well savoury & the seaweed brought out the sweetness of the scallops. The jerk rack of lamb was great. The meat was not as pink as I would have liked, but was very tender regardless. The spices used for the lamb were very aromatic & I enjoyed the light sweet touch added to the dish. Service & hospitality was excellent & we were made to feel very welcomed. Our waiter was very polite & accommodating to our requests. The chef came to greet us at the table to ask for our feedback regarding our meal. It was very nice of them to seek our opinions & to want to improve their menu based on customer feedback.View more
