Sat at the bar & had my dinner there, great Bartender Jean L. , very knowledgeable & great conversationalist. Great service, had Steak Tartare, Ribeye… au poivre . Atmosphere is great & beers are fresh & crisp. Cocktails thumbs up.

Thiis place was fantastic. From service to food. I had the onion soup, & beef short ribs, & my girlfriend had the seafood tagliatelle. It was all delicious. After our meal we had a drink at the bar to catch the hockey game. We enjoyed some khalua Rhum coffees & peroni's. We will be visiting méchant Boeuf again absolutely. Marie-Joelle was absolutely amazing! She recommended cocktails for us & we loved the beef tartare & fresh oysters she recommended. She made the BEST moscow mule we've ever had. Her positive attitude & warm smile made our night memorable. We spent the night sitting at the bar because the dining room seemed dim without her personality lighting the way. You're very lucky to have her. We are first time guests at the hotel & we will come back tomorrow for another cocktial just to see her again. We had a wonderful time here!View more
We decided to stop into Mechant Boeuf for a drink at the bar since we had eaten a very late lunch while touring Montreal. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely stunning; kudos to the designer. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, & my husband ordered the Le Peche drink. Both drinks were delicious, but the Le Peche was OMG delicious. I took a sip & I still can't stop thinking about it. We then decided to order the salmon dinner which came with brussel sprouts & potatoes. Oh my goodness, it was amazingly delicious. We then got the Brookie dessert which was also very good. My only disappointment is that we weren't in Montreal long enough to have a sit down dinner at Mechant Boeuf, but it's the first restaurant on our list to go to when we return to Montreal.

Méchant Boeuf never disappoints, & our latest visit was no exception! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm & inviting, setting the perfect stage for an incredible evening.
A huge shoutout to our waiter, Valter, who was unbelievably kind, knowledgeable, & professional, truly a top-tier waiter. His recommendations were spot on, his attention to detail impeccable, & his genuine passion for hospitality made our experience even more special. Service like this is rare, & Valter set the bar incredibly high.
Of course, the food was outstanding as always perfectly cooked steaks, lovely wine, & a lively yet cozy ambiance that makes Méchant Boeuf one of our favorite spots in Montreal.
Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Ask for Valter! Can't wait to return!View more

Food was amazing but service was quite slow. During the meal we sat with empty drinks for probably 20+ minutes before our server came by (I had to flag her down when I saw her as she didn't come over on her own) & she was very hard to find during our evening. I had to get up & go over to her at the bar to ask for our bills because we had been sitting finished our meals for a while with no communication from her. I expect better service when I'm paying this much. Atmosphere was very nice.View more
I ate at the bar two nights in a row because it was so good. The bartender customized a cocktail for me, which was nice, & kept me in club soda, which was extra nice. I had a perfectly cooked filet mignon one night, & the most outrageously good veggie burger the other night. It was a little noisy for my taste, but Fein, as a solo diner. I highly recommend this restaurant & will definitely be back.View more

This is a wonderful spot in Old Montreal. Our experience began with a warm greeting from the hostess. The ambiance is very nice with tables by the open windows as well as bar seating. It is much larger than it looks from the street. Once seated we were quickly introduced to our server, Valter. His excellent service & assistance with wine selection (with Quentin's input) elevated our dinner experience. It was nice to have a great meal in an environment where the team really wants you to enjoy your visit. We had Chateaubriand which was amazing! The accompanying Bernaise & pepper sauces were excellent. If you are a dessert person, save room for profiteroles or key lime pie.View more
Découvert en pleine après midi , ce restaurant de part sa devanture classique , ne reste pas moins agréable à & surprenant à l'intérieur. Un accueil classique mais restant chaleureux , une décoration & une ambiance tape l'oeil notamment au bar. Ayant pris un plat ( burger ) & un dessert ( brookie) j'ai été agréablement surpris de la qualité des mets par rapport à beaucoup de concurrent , peut être un manque d'originalité dans les ingrédients & la confection mais la qualité est au rendez vous. Le service était très professionnel & surtout très agréable , les compétences sont présentes & c'est ce qu'on attend d'un restaurant de cette gamme. Le seul bémol serait l'attente alors que le restaurant n'avait pas beaucoup de client mais ce défaut est rattraper par une gourmandise offerte par l'entreprise ce qui est un très bon point. Le rapport qualité prix est respectée & c'est un restaurant à faire si vous visitez le vieux port & ses quartiers , c'est un 18,50/20.View more

Très bonne expérience au méchant boeuf. Nous étions installés au bar, le barman Clément était super, nous a fait découvrir de nouvelles saveurs dont un expresso martini a tombé (pour ma part) Mon copain & moi étions venus boire un verre & en voyant la carte nous nous sommes laissés tenté par des plats à partager, vraiment très bon. L'endroit est magnifique, l'ambiance feutrée & chaleureuse est parfaite pour un bon repas romantique. La musique tendance & le bar nous offrent par ailleurs l'opportunité d'y passer une soirée branchée entre amis. Le service est impeccable. Si je pouvais mettre 6 étoiles je le ferais à ce niveau! Les mocktails sont vraiiiiment bon! À essayer 🍹 J'ai été un peu déçu toutefois en ce qui concerne la cuisine. Nous avons tenté la table d'hôte à prix réduit pendant l'événement Happening gourmand du Vieux Montréal & nous avons trouvé que nos assiettes reflétaient malheureusement la réduction. Les saveurs étaient toutefois là, c'était goûteux & les cuissons parfaites, sauf pour les frites de mon steak frites où elles étaient un peu dures, comme cuites puis réchauffées 😑. Mon contre-filet était malheureusement possédé par une bonne grosse veine de gras dur & désagréable qui fait crunch lorsqu'on le croque. Est-ce la normalité pour un contre-filet? Je prends habituellement du filet de boeuf alors je ne serais me poser en expert en contre-filet. La sauce béarnaise était divine! Enfin, j'aurais ajouté quelques petits légumes à cette assiette un peu triste 😢. Pour ce qui est du suprême de volaille & de gnocchis, la viande était tendre & juteuse & les gnocchis très bons. Néanmoins, le poulet manquait le petit kick de saveur espéré à la lecture du menu. Les desserts étaient bons, en particuliers les profiteroles. Bref, un endroit où nous en avons eu pour notre argent, mais sans plus au niveau de la cuisine mais qui a surpassé nos attentes en ce qui concerne le service d'exception auquel nous avons eu droit.View more

My evening at Méchant Boeuf, located in Old Montreal's charming Vieux-Port, was a delightful mix of culinary delights & a few drawbacks. Opting to dine on a Monday night, we found the dining room unusually quiet, with only a handful of patrons seated at the bar. Our hostess & waitress proved to be attentive professionals. The service was impeccable from the start, with a warm attitude & thoughtful recommendations. We kicked off the evening by savoring a delicious Amaretto Sour, my personal favorite, & the Feeling Spicy, a bold concoction of Hennessy VS cognac, lemon juice, bitters, & lavender syrup. The cocktails were well-balanced, leaving a positive first impression. As for the appetizers, the pork dumplings were satisfactory, though their likely frozen origin was discernible. In contrast, the beef tartare was a pleasant surprise, generously portioned & tastefully seasoned. For the main courses, we opted for the NY strip steak with pepper sauce, accompanied by Monte Cristo potatoes, & the ribeye steak. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, & featured generous portions. The quality of ingredients & culinary expertise shone through. However, the experience was marred by the noisy ambiance created by patrons at the bar. Their boisterous behavior, with no regard for the tranquility of others, could have been better managed by the restaurant staff. Unfortunately, the servers did not take initiative to address the noise, negatively impacting our overall enjoyment of the evening. Despite this drawback, Méchant Boeuf remains a recommendable spot for its enticing flavors & professional service. I would suggest, however, carefully choosing the timing of your visit to avoid a overly loud atmosphere, especially if you seek a more serene & intimate dining experience.View more
Perfect place for dinner. Make reservations we were lucky to get seats at the bar. We really enjoyed ourselves, nice staff & the atmosphere/decor was very relaxing. Oysters were excellent. The only snafu was they didn't have the first 3 entrees we ordered. We ended up with excellent NY strips. All around a nice evening & would highly recommend.View more
Visiting from NY. We always pick one place to have a "nice" dinner at the end of a trip. We picked perfectly. The atmosphere is warm without being stuck up. Welcoming for everyone. The food is amazing & the service is top tier. Fairly priced. Sit at the bar because Emma knows the menu & pairing perfectly. She's fun & genuine & made the experience perfect. Mechant Boeuf had a nice atmosphere & a beautiful bar. They had a nice oyster & wine happy hour (5 á 7) special that caught our attention. For what it's worth, there were no sand, rocks, or other debris in our oysters.
The faux filet was a great choice & was cooked to perfection, & the service was good!
