McLean's has become a landmark bar and restaurant in the downtown core of Montreal with its authentic Irish Pub atmosphere. McLean's a wide array of food dishes and a wide selection of imported and domestic beers. McLean's pub-style decor provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy all the latest sporting events on one of the many big screen satellite TV's positioned all around the bar. Upstairs, guests can partake in a friendly game of pool or just sit back and enjoy the company of good friends.
Across reviews, McLean's Pub comes across as a lively downtown spot with a welcoming vibe where drinks, sports and casual pub fare come together in a relaxed setting. The staff are consistently friendly and attentive, helping to keep the energy upbeat even when busy. The beer selection is solid and varied, often described as cold and well poured, with crowd pleasers like fish and chips, poutine and other bar classics frequently mentioned. The venue features two levels, a pool table, plenty of screens for games, and a central location that makes it easy to drop in before or after events. Clean, well kept spaces and a convivial, social atmosphere add to the appeal, with guests noting a mix of energy and warmth that makes it feel welcoming to both regulars and newcomers. While a few reviews question the authenticity of the Irish pub vibe, the overall experience shines through in the lively crowd, good service and dependable food and drinks.
Had a great time watching the habs game here. The atmosphere was crazy, & the staff was very efficient! We loved Kevin! My go to bar even without hockey.
What a great atmosphere for a playoff game. I got there early & had a lovely meal - good pub food. I picked the plate clean. On days like that, you may not find a seat if you don't go early. Guiness was delicious, as were the Jamesons. Service was excellent from the bartender & he was busy. 10/10 would go for a beer or a game again if I'm in town.
We went to watch hockey game, the service was surprising how good it was. The place was packed & the tables were cleared & restocked with surprising efficiency.

Large selection of draft beer, solid pub food, tons of screens to watch the game & it's only a hop, skip & a jump from the bell center! (Try the butter chicken poutine. Epic!!)
Tim was our server & he was fantastic! Given that it was a Habs game day, the place was packed, but he still gave great service! One of our pizzas didn't arrive on time, & he made up for it multiple times. Would definitely recommend coming here!
As someone that is Irish, from Boston & has been to an authentic Irish pub this restaurant utterly confused me. McLeans claims to be an Irish pub but one look at the menu told me different. No Irish staples like bangers & mash, Shepard's pie, corned beef, lamb, etc. Just average pub food. A little disappointing to eat at on St Pattys Day. On a positive note the food came out very quick & staff was friendly, had plenty of screens to watch games & met other customers & had very friendly conversations with them. Decent place to grab pub food before hockey games - just not Irish pub food

Good Guinness, decent chicken sandwich but don't order the fish & chips. For a'English Pub' the fish was so over battered that it was raw where it was touching the fish. The waitress had stopped by the table to ask how we were enjoying our food but never looked at me, or waited for me to respond & I had to get her attention after. When explaining my disappointment, her response was'I don't eat the fish & chips because it has too much batter'. Not the conversion I expected to have & not the experience I've had at any other pub I've been to. I returned more than half the dish & explained that I was not interested in a replacement, that being said I would have hoped for a discount on that item. Had they even given me $5 off I would have given a better rating.
If you want to watch a game & drink a beer, stop by here & then go eat somewhere else.
Alicia was FABULOUS!!! It's a crazy busy spot but I'd have to say a GREAT place to watch the game, the bell centre of course is the best experience to watch our Habs play. There is no better arena, but this I tell you was a great second. If you're in Montreal long enough for the space of two games, catch one of them here. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
I want to thank McLean's for the wonderful experience!
I came on the 10th of January for my birthday with my family. My dad came in earlier in the day & asked if it would be possible to reserve a spot for our large group as it was my birthday.
The waitress (i forget her name now but I believe her name started with an S) was incredibly accommodating & made an exception for us despite them not usually doing that on game days.
Upon arriving she was incredibly welcoming, wished me a happy birthday & made the experience a great one.
The food & drinks were great, & the vibe was AMAZING! What an incredible place to spend an evening before a Habs game, & what a wonderful team of staff members that make all customers feel welcome.
Thank you for making my birthday the most memorable one yet!

McLean's is hands down one of the best bars in Montreal, & without question one of the top places in the entire city to watch sports. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere just feels right. The beer is always ice cold, consistently poured perfectly, & exactly what you want whether you're stopping by casually or settling in for a full game night.
The staff deserve special mention - they are genuinely some of the friendliest people you'll find anywhere. Always welcoming, attentive without being overbearing, & clearly happy to be there. That positive energy really sets the tone & makes McLean's such an easy place to relax & enjoy yourself.
The environment itself is fantastic: great music playing, a lively but comfortable crowd, & a space that always feels clean & well taken care of - including the bathrooms, which are spotless (something that definitely doesn't go unnoticed). The food is also excellent, with solid options that pair perfectly with a few beers & keep you fueled through a long game or night out.
& when the game is on, McLean's truly shines. The atmosphere becomes next level - energetic, engaged, & electric without being chaotic. You can tell everyone is there for the same reason: to enjoy the game, the company, & the vibe. Screens everywhere, great sightlines, & a crowd that actually reacts to what's happening makes it an unbeatable sports-watching experience.
All around, McLean's delivers every single time - cold beer, great food, amazing staff, & a welcoming, upbeat environment. If you're looking for a top-tier sports bar in Montreal, this place isn't just good - it's one of the very best in the city.
Came to Montreal for the first time to see a Bruins game & so happy we found Mclean's pub! It was awesome vibe & our waitress Alicia was amazing! She was our concierge with place to go & see. Solid atmosphere & service was GREAT
This one is a tricky review. I went there looking for a sports bar with the Habs & the Jays ALCS game 7 on the TVs. I was welcomed & seated at a great table with views of both games. Service was excellent & very accommodating (downstairs). I decided to move upstairs where they had the Jays game on full time with audio. There was NO service upstairs. It was self serve bar only with one bartender who was head down & scrolling when I went to get a beer. Most people (a packed house) had empty drinks, empty plates, etc. The wings were great, & atmosphere was very fun. But there was no service upstairs. The staff member who was wearing a black t-shirt & clearing tables was the hardest working guy there & deserves tips.
I am a little late with the following comments & well-wishes, nonetheless, I am writing in order to express my sincere gratitude to Dave & Nes, both bartenders & all -around good guys at McLean's Pub located at 1210 Peel Street in Montreal. I was in a bind. Thirteen friends of mine were in town ready to watch the final games of the EPL season-May 25, 2025-with a real focus on the Chelsea v. Nottingham game. All of the places suitable to watch the game could not accommodate such a crowd when I came to them, the day before (not my fault), seeking to make a reservation for 14. I went to McLean's & made a request for a reservation, expecting yet another rejection. Much to my surprise, Dave & Nes, were friendly & professional in the way that they handled my time-sensitive request. They understood the importance of football as central to family & friends coming together. They took care of the logistics & were able to hook it up & get us a table.
In short, we had a great time. Dave was great at quickly quenching the group's thirst & ensuring more than adequate sustenance. Couldn't have asked for better guys to help out. Food, drink & service-all excellent. Dave & Nes are the primary reason I continue to visit the location when friends are in town. I highly recommend McLean's with a special emphasis on the service Dave & Nes provided for a'proper' viewing of football games-EPL or otherwise. Cheers to them for their courtesies.
