Hidden in an industrial area near the Lachine Canal, McKiernan is a true hidden gem by the team behind Joe Beef.
Don't be fooled by the low-key entrance - inside is a warm, plant-filled space with beautiful natural light & high ceilings. Perfect for brunch, solo time, or a relaxed hangout with friends.
Today's special was a perfectly cooked medium-rare beef with fresh greens - incredibly tender & flavorful. The crispy Brussels sprouts were addictive, like snack food. The rigatoni was rich & satisfying (though not spicy as described).
The cutlet reminded me of a thick, crispy Shanghainese fried pork chop - so good. I also saw someone use hash browns as burger buns with fried chicken… genius idea I'll try next time!
Dessert was a surprise hit - a blueberry cheesecake donut that was juicy & light, not overly sweet. The orange blossom mocktail had a unique Jo Malone-style aroma - floral & refreshing (but wish it came in a bigger glass!).
Friendly service, no rush vibes, way more comfortable than noisy downtown spots. I'll be coming back again & again to try more!View more
On y retourne ?
Lovely restaurant, I had a delicious brunch here & all the food was very tasty. I'm a huge fan of potatoes & they did not disappoint! The service was good & quick even though they were very busy. The atmosphere was really nice. A great spot for big groups but also for dates. It's also located in front of the canal so you can go for a walk afterwards.View more
Ordered a'prime rib' steak sandwich & received a low quality roast beef slice sandwich, when I asked the server to confirm he shrugged his shoulders & said'same thing'. Came during brunch & the entire place was full of loud children, screaming babies on either side of our table, whose parents decided to change their clothes right next to us. So keep in mind who to expect to eat around. Ordered desserts on the way out & received the wrong order. Only saving grace were the French fries.View more
This is a perfect brunch/lunch/dinner spot! Relaxed but beautiful space, great for large groups & sharing! It's usually quite busy but thankfully they take reservations, so reserve in advance. The food is outstanding. The brunch menu is fantastic, & super cheap for the quality of food you receive! I've been here a few times now & every time I've been blown away. A little hard to get to using public transit, but worth the trek! (Honorable mention for the schnitzel, you must try it!)View more
Had a bridal shower (brunch) & the food was great, service was exceptional. Will surely go back with my family.View more
View more
I've been here more than five times, & it has truly become one of my favorite brunch spots. I love how the menu evolves with the seasons, always bringing fresh flavors, the welcoming atmosphere. Always have a wonderful time here!!View more
Had a great time on Sunday with friends for brunch. Food was very good & ambience was wonderful. Staff were helpful & very friendly. Prices was reasonable for the food quality. Plenty of parking space & easy access. Would definitely come back for lunch or brunch.View more
I absolutely love the atmosphere at McKiernan. Rustic barn, ballroom vibe. It is simply one of my favourite places to eat in Montreal time & time again. Never disappointed. Staff is always on point as well. The quality for the price is totally fair & the clientele are a nice mix from all walks of life. No elitism just people passionate about good food.
I've heard that you can rent out the venue for wedding receptions & such as well which would be fabulous!
Their brussels sprouts are one of my single favourite dishes & all of Montreal.
Recently went back for brunch & it was lit! Photos addd to my review.View more
To say I'm impressed with this place is an understatement!!! Have been 3 times now & each time as exquisite as the last. Yesterday we had the breakfast schnitzel, the chicken salad sandwich special, the hash browns, coffee & a donut & holyyy. Absolutely fantastic. The service is great there, the coffee is strong, the interior is beautiful with a ton of natural light & the high ceilings are great. Over 10/10 breakfast spot & I'm not sure I'll ever come to Montreal again without going here for brunch before we leaveView more

Best brunch in Montreal & this's a must try restaurant. Everything is excellent here.View more
We went for brunch. Everything we had was delicious, creative, well thought out on the plate. I love the airy atmosphere & huge windows inside. As someone from New England it was fun to see the Becky's Diner mug by the host stand. Great experience all around.View more
Delicious menu except for their ribs, it's dry & nothing special. Also, the portions are small. As for their brunch, the quiche is excellent while pancakes & hash brown double down could've been executed better. They are very sweet due to an overload amount of maple syrup. On the contrary, their donuts are not, very good..just right amount of flavor, texture, & fillings.View more
Great brunch spot! The pancakes with fresh berries were delicious, as was the sandwich. You get to dine in a beautiful airy space with natural light, lush greenery, & soft chatter filling the air. Will have to come back to try their dinner menu, but all in all recommend! Update: we came back for dinner & still give this place 5 ⭐️! We were a table of five & got to try multiple dishes. Everything was delicious, but what we all agreed stood out was the fish which was buttery & melted in our mouthes, as well as the brussel sprouts & tartare (get a side of their homemade buns with herb & garlic butter if you can!).View more
Great laid back atmosphere & open space. Good brunch food.View more
Great lunch spot, kindof in the middle of nowhere but there's a parking lot. Pretty big location, didn't need a reservation on a sunday afternoon. Got the brunch schnitzel, burrata appetizer & blt sandwich & everything was delicious!View more
Went for Sunday brunch, we were six. It took three requests & 15 minutes to get our coffee. No decaf offered, & no cream, only milk. The brunch offerings are very small, sides are all extra, as is coffee, $3 a cup. I ordered a BLT sandwich, & by husband ordered a piece of quiche, & that's all we got, no potatoes, no fruit, nothing else on the plate. I don't call that brunch. I can get a full breakfast with all the trimmings & unlimited coffee for the same price elsewhere. Service was lacking & not much to eat left us extremely disappointed. & parking was difficult, lot is small, considering the size of the place.View more
Plats originaux. Service décontracté & hyper sympathique.View more
