It's Marven's. A greek institution. While I lament the loss of their calamari supplier, I still think the food is fantastic & super cheap for what you get. You really can't go wrong with anything you order, just be careful with the pitas cuz sometimes they're a bit....loose, let's just say. All in all, great food, great service. Go there.
Fried calamari were decent but lacked tenderness. The meat was very salty & not very tender. Caesar salad: average . Greek salad: good. The service was perfect. It's a loud place so hearing my friends wasn't easy. The only beer is Greek & there is no alcohol free beer. Cash only.
The food is delicious really delicious & the portions are huge, we had calamari 😋as entire & steak the flavour was amazing & chicken gyros so tasty ,& the staff were so friendly & our waiter Peter was so kind & sweetheart, will come back for sure ♥️♥️ If you love Greek food I highly recommend it 👍👍
Always an amazing experience & a.l.w.a.y.s good food. Pork souvlaki is a must, fried calamari is a must. That vinegar red sauce is just wow. Love that place, went back this week after 5 years & its still as good as i remember. Tzatziki is amazing too! Service is nice, atmosphere is okay but that is not why you come there, & to be honest, its one of this restaurant trait - come here, eat good, drink good, nice people. Thats what they do & thats what they deliver. Making a good job since the first time i went there while i was in highschool. Good job to the whole team! Oh & its really affordable making it a must👌
I heard that this place was so good & they did not disappoint. Enjoyed the lamb chops. So flavorful & large portions. The calamari appetizer was surprisingly good - perfectly cooked & not the usual chewy squid texture.
We were for lunch but after the lunch rush! Totally recommended for the time & the food. Attn: CASH only. Food: flavors are on point, family meal flavors done right. Yes, price is high but portions are huge. We have to take some leftovers to-go. Calamari is a must but also huge so sharing among 2 or 3 friends is better. Steaks are also humongous, prepare your stomach well in advance. Sauce: traditional sweet & tomato-ey sauce on the table (see pics) are a must with calamari. Drink: Fix beer is a nice larger that would cut the greasiness from food. Vibe: small, cozy, wooden cottage vibe. Very familial & local. Super attentive waiters. Dine there & walk to parc Jarry for digestion on a nice sunny day will complete your afternoon with relaxation.
Overall the food is great .. my only comment is that in a few of the Geros the some parts of the chicken was dry felt like it was shaved little earlier or been rotating little longer .. next time I will stick the the chicken on a stick Gero.. the Calamari was fantastic 👏 👌
Attentive service & amazing food. The place is pretty small for how popular they are, so expect at least a 20 minute wait during peak hours. The lamb chops are flavorful & tender. Calamari is just lightly breaded & crispy & fresh. Greek salad comes with a block of feta cheese & not just feta crumbles. Highly recommend their pork gyro pita. Very large portion we had so much leftover to bring home.

Marven's is hands down the best Greek restaurant I've been to! Been coming from Ottawa especially to eat here for the past 30 years very consistent, staff treats us like family. Service is fast, staff very courteous & food is AMAZING! Rib steak, calamari & lamb chops are the best I've had, their house sauce is great, authentic food amazing flavours.
My family & I have been eating at this location for over 25 years, we live in ottawa & average one trip a month to Marvens. Our kids now ask us to visit Marvens weekly, they love this place & so do we. The best Calamari, Steaks, Ribs, & anything else we have eaten here. The staff is always amazing, courteous, fast, & treat you like family.
It was really really yummy food!!!! :) It was such a delightful experience. The lamb chops were absolutely delicious. Kind of wished I ordered 10 pieces instead of 5. The calamaris were extremely soft & delicious & such a big portion!! We really the experience. Highly recommend!!!!
Classic Greek restaurant in Montreal. The fried calamari appetizer is very good & is enough to feed 4 people. I had the pork souvlaki. It was good but nothing extraordinary. I've had better souvlaki elsewhere. The complimentary bread was also not great. My friends ordered the lamb which was very good. Potato house fries are good as well. The rice & salad were average. Service was nice & fast. There are better Greek restaurants in Montreal in the plateau area but overall not a bad choice.
Casual diner with really good food. The calamari was tender & crisp & I liked the little kick on their dipping sauce. Parking is a little tough to find, but worth the effort even for pickup
