Marven's offers a straightforward exploration of authentic Greek culinary traditions through a menu defined by classic preparations. Freshly grilled meats seasoned with Mediterranean herbs serve as the foundation, accompanied by traditional sides like creamy tzatziki and crisp vegetable salads. The environment maintains a functional focus on the ingredients themselves rather than excessive ornamentation. Signature offerings include succulent souvlaki skewers and hearty platters designed to showcase fundamental flavor profiles. Guests encounter a consistent approach to preparation that emphasizes simple techniques and reliable product sourcing. This establishment prioritizes the execution of standard dishes, ensuring that core components like tender pita bread and salty feta cheese remain central to every plate served. The result is a pragmatic representation of regional cooking that relies on the natural compatibility of high quality staples.
Marven's is widely regarded as a staple in Montreal for authentic Greek cuisine, consistently praised for its generous portions and high-quality dishes. Many patrons highlight the fried calamari, lamb chops, and rib steak as standout menu items that keep them returning for years. While the restaurant is often busy and requires waiting in line, guests frequently note that the warm, unpretentious atmosphere and efficient service make the experience worthwhile. Despite being a cash-only establishment with a lively, sometimes noisy environment, the overall consensus celebrates the restaurant as a reliable and affordable destination for a satisfying, classic meal.
Very crowded eventhough we came around 3-4pm, their wait time was 10mins or so. But every dishes came out has savory, scrumptious & perfect taste. Especially the calamari & the beef steak. The salad & garlic bread is delicious too. Satisfied with our meal!
Overall not too bad, calamari are good. The fact that you find out it's cash only at the end - well, that's very disappointing. ATM is downstairs, you pay commission to withdraw, then pay-up your bill. Server will remind you that it's about 20-25% tip on top that's not included 😉
Kids menu is non-existent, variety of drinks & dessert is poor. Overall - nothing really special

Overall, the food tasted good. The calamari was crispy on the outside but a little dry on the inside. The souvlaki was a little dry. The Greek salad was delicious. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere is simple & not very inviting.
Hands down some of the best Lamb Chops I've had in Montreal in a long time, I selfishly want to keep this little slice of Heaven to myself but had to share & the Calamari so good Dimitri & the Boys must have put their whole foot in it, you can't go wrong with Marven's
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience.
I called to order what I believed were five chicken souvlaki sandwiches & one order of calamari. Instead, I received five chicken skewers with a small salad-no pita or sandwich. When I called the restaurant, I was told that I should have specifically asked for'pita.' In my opinion, if there is any ambiguity, the person taking the order should clarify it with the customer rather than making assumptions.
To make matters worse, I drove 30 minutes from Laval to pick up my order because the restaurant was about to close, & then another 30 minutes back home. I spent an hour just picking up the food, only to discover when I got home that the order was not what I had intended to order.
The calamari was also cold & did not taste good.
I paid about $85 for this meal, & when I called to explain the problem, I didn't receive an apology or any attempt to resolve the situation. I was simply told that the mistake was mine.
Good customer service means not only taking an order, but also confirming unclear requests & making a reasonable effort to resolve problems when they occur. Unfortunately, neither the food quality nor the customer service met my expectations, & I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
Never disappoints. Fantastic calamari, the Pikilia plate was delish. Tzatziki was the best. Our server was a hoot (Cosmo …. AKA'Walk Away') recommended a refreshing Chateau Faucet with ice. Just the best ice ever, nobody does frozen H2O like Cosmo. You'll never leave Marvin's hungry, still as great as ever, don't miss it.
We had a pleasant overall experience, but there were a few things that left us a bit disappointed. The restaurant is on the expensive side, & the portion sizes are smaller compared to many similar restaurants. That said, the fried calamari appetizer & the salmon were both delicious, & the salad was fresh & enjoyable. Unfortunately, the fries & all of the meat dishes we tried were quite dry.
The atmosphere was definitely a highlight-the décor is beautiful, & the restaurant has a warm, cozy feel. Our waiter wasn't overly friendly, but he was attentive & made sure we had what we needed throughout the meal.
The biggest disappointment came when we noticed that the portions being served to customers who arrived later were noticeably larger than the ones we received when the restaurant was still quiet. It may not have been intentional, but the difference was quite noticeable & left us feeling a little overlooked.
One thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant is cash only. They do mention there's an ATM nearby, but nowadays it would be much more convenient if they accepted debit & credit cards as well. It would definitely make the experience easier for many customers.
Overall, there are some really good dishes here & the atmosphere is lovely. With a bit more consistency in portion sizes & the addition of card payments, this could be an even better dining experience.
