Inside was really nice. Food was a bit too salty. Sauce was thick & a layer of film formed on top as you can see in the pic. Wine selection was great.
I come visit every time I'm in Montreal.
Incredible, cozy atmosphere.
An unbelievable charcuterie selection all clearly done in house, rich & delicious.
Great wine at a great value too. Staff is super knowledgeable that can help guide if you're not sure.
Highly recommend!
I felt right at home when I came into Mamie. My server brought over the wine menu written on a large chalkboard. It was in French, so I gave up on trying to translate it & just asked him to bring me something red & unique. The wines were great & so was the large cheeseboard. Everything here is a great value. The bar itself is pretty big with plenty of seating & can get moderately loud.
The large charcuterie board was enough food for two people! We were stuffed, & it was delicious. We got all the different wines on tap, which were fantastic. Highly recommend this place if you're a fan of wine, meat, & cheese!!
Mamie looks super cute & I'd been excited to try it out for days. The setup is adorable & the vibes were great when we went with friends after dinner. The server who seated us was friendly & we got a table quickly even though it was busy.
Then, we sat for a while with no menus while we watched other tables (even those seated after us) being taken care of. We eventually had to ask for a menu, but even then we weren't shown the wine board - just asked to describe what we wanted.
I'm visiting so I don't speak the language & was totally fine to let everyone converse & order in French, but the server was apparently unimpressed that I wasn't paying attention to the point where my friend had to explain to him that I didn't understand.
The server then opened a bottle without giving us any choices & it turned out to be something that we didn't enjoy. We felt bad but he had already started opening the bottle as he was talking. He was polite about changing it, but the whole thing felt awkward. The next wine was better but a rather pedestrian choice.
Then came the food situation. We were told we had to order food (which we understood might be a licensing thing), & we were fine with that. We mentally prepared to force food down even though we were stuffed but then… nothing. For over about 90 mins no one came back to take an order. By the time the server finally dropped the food menu on the side & insisted we order food, we were on our last sips of our drinks & honestly didn't feel like sticking around.
The space itself is great but the service was abrupt & chaotic in a way that made us feel uncomfortable - not something I've experienced elsewhere in Montreal. Disappointing, because I really wanted to love this spot. I felt bad convincing everyone to try Mamie when we normally would've just gone to Vinvinvin & had a great time.
Honestly I was reluctant to try this place for a while. The big crowds of people lining up, I didn't get it. Finally tried & I'm very happy I did. The food is not mind blowing, but it's very good. But the highlight is the value. A decent steak frites for $30? 1/2 L of natural wine for 28? You can't find good value like this in Montreal anymore. I now understand why it's a neighbourhood fave.
Steak, especially the tomahawk is a must try & their wine selection cannot go wrong with it
Very nice & cozy. Love the evening vibe for both drinks & food. House wine was worth it. Le service vraiment merveilleux.
The best place for orange Spanish wine & various snacks. Nice atmosphere, polite & unobtrusive service. Very tasty & cozy. Highly recommended!
Service was amazing, the waiter explained everything on the menu & worked with us to find some great wines.
Incredible service & hospitality! Had a glass of wine, beer & cheese platter. True professionals.
Such a wonderful meal! Our server, Sam, was spectacular. He was especially attentive & his food & wine suggestions were on point. The clams, cauliflower & ravioli were absolute standouts from the meal. Will go again!
Bar Mamie is a hidden gem in Montreal! Their selection of wines is fantastic, & the planche was a perfect pairing. The service was incredibly friendly & made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Wanted to go for a long time & was not disappointed! From the start the staff was super friendly & the food was to die for, good wines also! Will definitely go back ! A must !
Première expérience chez Mamie & sûrement pas la dernière ! Sam a fait de notre expérience un doux moment savoureux & délicieux ! Nice crowd ! Great wines & few signature cocktails without forgotten great finger tasty food 😋
Amazing to drink good wine & have a cheese/charcuterie board !
Our first visit in March was perfection from the moment we walked in & the return visit last week was the same. Our server was passionate & knowledgable about the food & wine & the owner was engaged with the customers. The wine choices are interesting & well curated & the food is sublime with a focus on local products. The atmosphere is fun & homey. In a city with so many excellent restaurants we chose to celebrate our anniversary here & the evening was unforgettable!
Walking in to Mamie, I instantly felt at home. It's a wonderful place! The food & services was excellent, but the wine list caters more to a light French wine preference, so if you're like me & enjoy something more full bodied you might be disappointed. We ordered just the barbecued asparagus, which was good, so I definitely want to go back & explore the rest of the menu. The Charcuterie Board looks great to share with a group.
