Fun concept. Broths are good, comforting. Good if you crave mild or spicy Malatang as hangover food. You pay at the counter after grabbing the ingredients you wish them to cook for you, so don't expect too much service other than that. It won't necessarily harm your overall experience here. This is my go-to spot for Malatang in Montreal.
Pros & cons. Pros: it's a really fun concept. Love the wide selection of ingredients you get to pick from to create your own bowl & dipping sauce. The bowl is also huge & you can choose from different soup bases. The seating is also nice & comfortable. Cons: the price by weight. I really don't think we can justify it. Yes, you get a lot in the bowl & you'll feel very full afterwards. However the avg bowl is going to be around $45 so get ready to spend. We even saw other ppl being shocked by the price & returning some ingredients. Honestly it's the most expensive soup I've ever had. Personally for the price you can just go to AYCE. I think if they're charging an AYCE price, they should at least make it AYCE style. Also there was no music in the background. It was very quiet & it made us feel even more strange about the amount we spent on a soup bowl. We were very excited to try this place & I wish I could have wrote something more positive. If they consider changing their price we would be more interested in going back.
i like how chill & casual this place is. quick service & good selection of things to add to your mala tang or dry pot. appreciate the DIY sauce bar too

I've only been there for 3 times. Certainly there are some improvements to make. One is the inconsistent spicy & flavour. On my third visit I ordered spicy dry pot to go, it turned out the pot was tasteless & flavourless, not sure if chef forgot adding salt or used too less sauce...
Nice casual hotpot place with lots of options, very efficient system, but it wasn't always clear what the foods were as the labels were worn out, & for people not familiar with the ingredients it was a bit of a random draw. Kid-friendly, but be careful with those super hot linquids slushing around - bibs recommended (for adults too;))

Pretty good price in China town. This is a famous chain restaurant & this location isn't too crowded. I paid $26 & am very full. Wide selection of ingredients & soup base is very tasty.
Really enjoyed my first experience at this restaurant! The staff did a great job of giving us tips as first timers, the pricing was very fair & everything was fresh. Would definitely recommend!
This place reminds me of Big Way Hot Pot in Vancouver, but I have to say it's far from perfect. I suppose it's just opened not long ago, so they still have time to improve as they go further. The vibe & service are decent, both scoring 7/10, & it's impeccably clean at 10/10. However, the food falls short with a rating of 5/10. Personally, I still prefer having a soup base for my hot pot rather than just dry. Will consider to go back.
