Review Summary

Maison Kam Fung draws crowds with authentic Hong Kong style dim sum and a wide range of dishes, offering generous portions and good value that make it a go-to spot for family lunches and group dining. Carts circulate and food can also be ordered directly from staff, which helps some guests get hot dishes quickly, though during peak hours service can feel rushed and some staff appear hurried or not very polite. The ambiance is lively and bustling, with a large dining room and a rotating cart system that adds to the experience, while language barriers and occasional mixed service leave some guests feeling overlooked. Dishes praised include fresh steamed fish, braised eggplant with pork and shrimp, a variety of dumplings, fried lobster, soups, and Cantonese classics with several reviews calling the portions generous and ideal for sharing. The restaurant is described as family friendly and a solid value, though a few reports note longer waits during peak times and occasional inconsistency in the pacing of service or attentiveness, especially during lunch or weekends. Overall, it remains a popular and dependable spot for authentic dim sum and Cantonese cooking in the area, celebrated for its breadth and flavor even as guests hope for smoother, more consistent service.

Good place to experience Chinese American cuisine. I like the large round table, we were 12 & can have conversation.
Food was ok, some dishes better than others.
I liked the eggplants, the Shanghai noodles, the dim sum.
Broccoli & beef so so, the fish so so.
Average was good we had a good time.

The overall offering has further improved. Service was good & rounds of freshly cooked dishes came out quickly. This is an authentic Hong Kong style yum cha place for a group of people who look for a variety of delicacies to share

Unclear service, the staff can barely speak English (no french)

The staff does rounds serving various dishes where 1 in 2 actually tasted good. They dont really explain how service works (& you cant understand the little they do explain). Its simple but you just have to figure it out: You take an item, they check a square on your paper, price goes up quickly.

When we tried to get the menu, the staff would just say to talk to the waiter, & when we talked the the waiter the guy was loud & disrespectful. Shooed us to the table where he just chucked the menu. Outlandish prices for the menu dishes, where most of it is the same as the little dishes they bring out.

So yeah I guess the main gimmick is the little dishes, but there could be some improvement on the service. Had better experiences at other places that offer the same thing. Quite disappointed

What I like about this place is his Dim Dim time from 10 to 3pm, you don't need to wait to order just sit & they will come to your table to offer hot dishes. Also desserts are fabulous!

Best dim sum in montreal area. Its packed at all the peak times but the good news ... the place is huge. Service is great. Food is delicious & the selection is top notch. I love to visit dim sum places whenever I travel. I have been to China, Hong Kong, new York, San Francisco & many spots in between & kam fung stands up with the best on a few dishes. I recommend the sui Mei & the sticky rice. The fried dumplings & squid are also delicious. Ask for extra hot sauce & some hot mustard to clean out the system 😋 ... some like it hot 🔥 ... ##spicyadventuresKTOWN #jackbrown9120 tell them I sent you & win a prize 🏆 ... 🐉 🐲 ❤? 🏄?♂? 💃 🕺

Got here right at open at 10am. First food cart didn't roll out of the kitchen till 10:30. It's now 11:15 & half the traditional dishes one would expect to be on offer have not surfaced on any cart. In the first hour here there have been no green vegetables, no turnip cake, no taro dumpling, no steamed bbq pork buns, no crab of any kind. Quite the let down. In all the cities I have had Dimsum the meal is a rapid attack of food & it doesn't need to be a 2 hour dining experience. I requested the items above & the server told would come later. How long must a person be here to have the full dim sum experience? The plus side here is that the food was wonderful.

What a Lovely Place! We absolutely love visiting this dim sum restaurant. Every dish is consistently fresh & flavorful. While the prices are a bit higher than other places offering a similar menu, we don't mind because the service here is significantly better than elsewhere. As a Caucasian couple, it can sometimes feel a bit awkward asking about the ingredients of certain dishes we're unfamiliar with, but the staff is always incredibly kind & takes the time to show us each dish & explain what it is. The service here is hands down the best we've experienced at a dim sum restaurant. The atmosphere is clean, beautiful, & welcoming. It's truly a must-visit on the South Shore. I highly recommend this spot for lunch if you're looking for a delicious & unique dining experience!

Good quality of food. However there is a lot of room for improvement in the service. Waiters are slow to respond. Had to ask several waiters for the same thing before getting what we wanted. Long waiting time before food is ready - 30mn +. Dishes came out bit by bit - instead of all together. Also it happened that one order was not as requested so we had to have it sent back to the kitchen. Had to wait another 30mn to get the right order!!

Ça a l'air bon ! ENGLISH VERSION... I looked at the photos & it appealed to me. It seemed like a real Chinese restaurant worthy of the name. I had also seen the show "Curieux Bégin". In short, I couldn't wait. What a desappointment. I wanted to try food I've never had because I wanted to eat REAL authentic food. I want to try mushroom soup & I was advised against it. Too long, I am told; Well, I want to try a Yu Djian style pork dish (not sure of the name)....I'm told that according to her it's so-so.....in short, I end up with a sour soup & spicy & another pork dish with XO sauce....I also have spicy garlic eggplant. Next to us, a large table of Chinese people are eating. They are served in large serving dishes. It looks good ! Our dishes arrived, my wife had the Cantonese lobster, & all these dishes were in black plastic dishes....soup included! Unbelievable ! An hour wait in total & everywhere. My pork was actually served with broccoli in such large pieces that you had to cut it into several smaller pieces before eating it; the eggplants were good but that was all he had; no other vegetables (onions, carrots, etc.) The lobster was OK but nothing more. The soup was good but served in a transparent plastic dish. In short, the whole thing gave me the impression that we had come for a take-out, & that they were in a hurry to see us leave. Meanwhile, our friends at the main table were served properly. How can you be so poorly served? I had the impression that we were the lackeys of the big table & that it was therefore normal that we could not eat in good conditions. Shame & humiliation. Never again. I strongly advise against this restaurant. They serve musketeers' food there, treating you like their lackeys. They won't see me there anymore!

Tonight, my husband & I had dinner here. We come here quite often & always enjoy the food. The dishes are delicious, generously portioned, & reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly & welcoming to customers. We highly recommend this place.

This has been the worst service I ever have & the longest time I ever have to wait to eat. First we ask questions when we order, but the waiter is always busy & has to tend to other tables before we finish our order. We order three dishes. One of the dish we order is an ordinary dish which we have tried before, but he said that will take 40 minutes to cook, so okay we follow his advice & change to another dish. However after one & a half hour, we still have not got any food. I have to walk out to find the waiter since he is always very busy & did not come around our corner. (After attempt to call down another waiter who can't follow our order because we must ask our waiter.) Our waiter's attitude is horrible. I ask if he can check our order. He keeps busy doing his own work, looking at some receipts & said you would wait far longer if you have ordered your previous dish. What the heck!? Is this suppose to be the attitude of a waiter? I look around, every other tables around us, people who came later than us have table full of food. & their waiter are like always asking them if everything is ok or if they need anything. When we ask them how come the food is so late, the response is it is busy in the kitchen & there is a mistake in the order. I am a regular client at this restaurant & before that, I like to go to this restaurant very often because the food is good. However uncompetent staff like this make me turn away from this restaurant. They need to hire polite & reliable staff to make this work.
