The food & decor were fantastic. Waiters were very attentive.

The music was WAY TOO LOUD. To the point my Apple Watch was even giving me warning of potential permanent hearing loss. We had to yell in each other's ears to converse. Which, in the end, ruined the experience.

The band was mediocre at best. The music was NOT jazz even though the singer was pushing he was doing jazz. His voice was not appropriate for the type of songs they were doing either .

We were very disappointed in the experience & left with a pounding headache.

There was no Jazz music yesterday! Is was more like rock & roll & blues music. Also it was like amateur singer night! & the club charges $20 per person "cover charge"!

Where to begin. We were visiting from the UK. We visited Montreal primarily to go to House of Jazz. I called & spoke to explain before making on-line booking. I was told that they appreciated us making such a journey & we would be given a good table by the stage so we could see the show. I then made the booking on-line as suggested.
On arrival we were taken upstairs to the very back corner with virtually no sight of the show. I spoke with the Mgr who basically said tough, other people had booked sooner & this was all that he had left.
As the night unfolded it got worse.
1. The hostess showing us to the table was rude & unhelpful.
2. We asked the table server for the salad with octopus to be made with salmon instead of octopus (salmon was readily available on the menu). Server said "I will ask but they will say no" !! How hard can it be to lift off the Octopus from a salad & put on a salmon fillet?
3. The support act was little more than an open mic singer/guitar player doing pop covers. No jazz in sight.
4. When the main act came on the first set consisted of seven songs, 4 of which were short clips as a medley, of pop hits bearing little resemblance to the actual song. Everything was performed at breakneck speed & at max volume. Again. Nothing jazz. We didn't stay for the second set.
5. The sound quality was awful. Just a loud mush with no clarity or definition. The band members were playing flat out & seemed to be competing with each other for airspace. So much so you could see the singer asking them to calm down & turn it down a bit. She could barely be heard above the noise.

All in all, a very disappointing visit. Hard to find anything particularly good about it really. Sorry but that's how it was.

How unfortunate that she ruined the whole evening.

Le spectacle n'était pas du jazz, mais de la musique latine (samba, merengue, salsa, etc.). Vraiment déçu. Première & dernière fois.

Exceptionnel - Le groupe est extrêmement professionnel & l'expérience meilleure encore qu'au Upstairs à Montréal.

First time & definitely not my last ! Amazing decor & the food (ribs) were great. Service A1 & the entertainment (Dwight Grant) was more than fantastic. Had the crowd in his spell. Highly recommend House of Jazz for an amazing evening alone, couples & groups! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

On va à la Maison du Jazz pour la musique. Bravo à Mélanie Charrier & ses musiciens qui étaient visiblement heureux d'être là & de jouer ensemble! Leur prestation était remarquable & elle créait une ambiance joyeuse. Quant à l'offre au menu, bien qu'intéressante, la promesse ne se réalise malheureusement pas dans l'assiette & le service est correct, sans plus.

Toute est parfait dans cette établissement, les employés sont sympathiques , souriants & très attentionnés. La place elle même est vivante avec toutes ses décorations & lumières . Le manger est est très bon ! Pour terminer il n'y a pas un seul restaurant que je connais avec une ambiance aussi festive , la musique , les musiciens toutes est parfait ! J'adore cette place je la recommandé autant pour un souper entre amoureux , une fête , une première date où tout simplement pour aller écoute de la bonne musique jazz ou autre . 5 🌟 sans hésiter!

Le 28 Mai dernier mon épouse & moi avons célébré notre 30 iem anniversaire de mariage. Cela fait plusieurs années que mon épouse me demandait quelle voulais aller voir un show de jazz. Nous y sommes allés & nous avons été très charmés par l'orchestre de musique "EMY & THÉ HIGHER GROOVE". La musique, la nourriture ainsi que le service était au delà de nos espérance. J'ai donné 5 étoiles & ca le mérite. Nous y retournerons très bientôt avec des amis. Merci à Alex notre serveur A bientôt

The band was a disappointment. In the past I used to frequent Biddles & later the House of Jazz on Aylmer st. downtown, andthe musicians were excellent, unlike the band at my visit last night. The food was also rather expensive, but I guess this is the situation in this day & age at many other restaurants.

Amazing staff. One blond waitress was overly stressed but it could have been due to the power cut .But overall we barely noticed an electricity shortage. Performers were outstanding. kudos to the Jazz team . Mrs Swainey 🙌
