Where to begin. We were visiting from the UK. We visited Montreal primarily to go to House of Jazz. I called & spoke to explain before making on-line booking. I was told that they appreciated us making such a journey & we would be given a good table by the stage so we could see the show. I then made the booking on-line as suggested.
On arrival we were taken upstairs to the very back corner with virtually no sight of the show. I spoke with the Mgr who basically said tough, other people had booked sooner & this was all that he had left.
As the night unfolded it got worse.
1. The hostess showing us to the table was rude & unhelpful.
2. We asked the table server for the salad with octopus to be made with salmon instead of octopus (salmon was readily available on the menu). Server said "I will ask but they will say no" !! How hard can it be to lift off the Octopus from a salad & put on a salmon fillet?
3. The support act was little more than an open mic singer/guitar player doing pop covers. No jazz in sight.
4. When the main act came on the first set consisted of seven songs, 4 of which were short clips as a medley, of pop hits bearing little resemblance to the actual song. Everything was performed at breakneck speed & at max volume. Again. Nothing jazz. We didn't stay for the second set.
5. The sound quality was awful. Just a loud mush with no clarity or definition. The band members were playing flat out & seemed to be competing with each other for airspace. So much so you could see the singer asking them to calm down & turn it down a bit. She could barely be heard above the noise.

All in all, a very disappointing visit. Hard to find anything particularly good about it really. Sorry but that's how it was.

Was there last Saturday night for a surprise birthday dinner. The live band & music were excellent. It added to the vibe. Michelle & the band had the crowd going. It was definitely an experience.
The only negative was the service when it came to the food.
We were a rather large group & there was a lot of mix-up with the plates, which left some people with food they didn't order.
All in all, it was a great night, & the salmon tartare was excellent.

The music was not at all great. The band was not interesting mostly the second one.

The service was good. Price was fair. But the music ruined it.

Ce fut tellement une superbe soirée! Tout était parfait, bouffe, ambiance folle, tout le monde dansait, les bands juste wowwwwww surtout les chanteuses!!

Très belle expérience pour une première fois a Laval , le band était absolument incroyable, la nourriture était fantastique, le personnel porte une attention particulière a chaque clients j'ai même pu discuter avec la propriétaire vraiment super !!
J'ai aimer y aller le jeudi soir moins de monde mais on sent comme si on fessais partie du band & l'ambiance est beaucoup plus intime. Je recommande!

This is one of my favorite restaurants! I love the food & there's entertainment to boot! Previously we were always able to have conversation during dinner however yesterday the entertainment was WAYYYYY TOOOOO LOUD! We could not hear ourselves talk without shouting & still we could not hear each other & it took away from the enjoyment of the experience. It should be toned down, the band was so loud it drowned out the singer which I thought was very annoying. When you spend over $200 for two it would be nice to be able to enjoy the singing & also be able to carry on a conversation, that ruined the night a bit for us.

Très bel endroit. Belle ambiance! J'ai beaucoup aimé. Par contre avec le band c'est très bruyant donc si vous voulez avoir des conversations, vous allez pas mal crier toute la soirée. Par contre la nourriture était très bonne! Le service est par contre un peu long. Sinon super endroit. Je vais y retourner.

Wow!!! Quelle belle expérience! Quel bel endroit! La décoration est magnifique & unique. Nos assiettes étaient tous succulents & de haute gamme!!! Les prix sont très concurrentiels. Avec un band live en train de jouer de la musique latine!!! On s'est senti à Cuba! Un band magnifique avec des voix sublimes.

The band was a disappointment. In the past I used to frequent Biddles & later the House of Jazz on Aylmer st. downtown, andthe musicians were excellent, unlike the band at my visit last night. The food was also rather expensive, but I guess this is the situation in this day & age at many other restaurants.

J'ai adoré le groupe de musique (Dano Peace & the upwright jazz band) & le service était excellent! Belle ambiance & décor. Nous y retournerons c'est certain.

La musique, la décoration & les boissons étaient & sont toujours incroyables. AMAZING singer & band. J'ai vraiment passé une bonne soirée. En revanche, je ne recommanderais pas la nourriture. A chaque fois que j'y vais, ça n'a pas bon goût. Le pudding chômeur était vraiment froid & avait une texture bizarre.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant, delicious food, service was nothing special & a little slow. Had a table close to the band but they started late & I only stayed for 10 minutes once they started & was charged 15$ extra per person for the band....it was only 10 minutes. Should not have been charged

We were there frome 8pm to 1:30am for the new years celebration . Started off well until we were completely forgotten by our server . We had ordered drinks around 10:30pm & they arrived after midnight , so did our main dishes. We were asked to pay our bill in full in advance for this event & it was NOT worth the 480$ + extra 100$ for drinks & water once there . I felt disrespected & stranded as a client who made the reservation 3 monthS prior.

That being said , Michelle Sweeney did not disappoint ! Impressive singer & performer . The band that accompanied her were on point & amazing .

The place is beautiful.

Cuban band-Music just what we needed to bring us to the warmer south weather (without airline hassles or sunburns)
4 Orders * the Lamb - * Salmon tartare - * Pasta dish - * Pork Ribs - all good.
But took a good 50 minutes to get our food served..........either short-staffed in kitchen or good food takes time to make...........
I counted 3 birthday groups so maybe they took up meal-prep time....... regardless another great nite of music & food
