Avis pour Maison Chez Bong

korean(33) bibimbap(13) kimchi(10) tasty(9) rapide(9) coreen(7) bulgogi(7) recommend(7) chinatown(6)We scored Bibimbab 8/10. The Grill pork is definitely 10/10. This is a very good boutique Korean restaurant. Doesn’t look much from the road frontage, but as soon as you walk in you can tell it is a place to have one of the best Korean in town👍Voir plus
Fun place to eat in Chinatown, food was good but the ambiance is really rustic & interesting.

J'ai apprécié le rapport qualité/prix, sur l'heure du midi, c'est assez rapide & les plats sont quand mêmes bons
This restaurant was on my Wish List for a while but when I did finally get to visit it, I was disappointed. Chez Bong is a very small & basic basement restaurant with fairly courteous servers who could be more attentive. While the Korean pancake appetizer was delicious, the rest of the meal was disappointing as the Spicy Noodle soup was not spicy as advertised & not very tasty; the Marinated, Grilled Beef Ribs & Marinated, Grilled Chicken were tasty but the portions were very small & because the portions are small, & everything has to be ordered individually, the cost adds up & amounts to much more than I would want to pay for the food & surroundings offered by Chez Bong. My visit was not unpleasant but the restaurant does not warrant a second visit IMO.
We never had before Korean food, we decided to give it a shot. The two side dishes were tasty; potatoes & Kimichi (fragmented cabbage)
We order Seafood soup as a main dish & stir fried octopus. Octopus was very rubbery; some pieces were hard to swallow. The seafood was full of tofu. The prices compared to the quality of food was high.
I will still give Korean cuisine another chance but maybe not in Montreal.
By Montreal standards, this is a capable Korean restaurant (tasty food, serious execution but do not expect fancy modern take of Korean fares, they apply themselves to be homey/traditional but of course, with local ingredients, therefore do not try to compare what is done here to what is done in Asia / at least they try to get as close as possible to that standard), indeed. Their kimchi particularly well done in view of what I came to expect from Korean restaurants in Montreal.
