Review Summary

Maison Chez Bong is a small, cozy basement Korean spot in Chinatown known for authentic flavors, generous portions, and affordable prices. The menu features bibimbap, jap chae, tteokbokki, galbi, and crispy fried chicken, with several reviews praising dishes served in piping hot stone bowls and a warm, inviting ambience. While the vibe is consistently friendly and the service attentive, occasional lines on busy nights are noted and a few critiques mention a touch more salt on jjajangmyeon or a dessert option that is missing. The overall impression is that Maison Chez Bong is a reliable, best in town kind of choice for Korean food, a hidden gem that many would gladly return to for comfort food and quick service.

This is my favourite Korean place in Montreal. The food is absolutely delicious (my favourite dishes are the shrimp bibimbap, seafood pancake & chicken), the staff is kind & pleasant to interact with, & the kimchi is the best I've had. I often eat at Chez Bong & I like buying their kimchi to take home. Although in a basement the atmosphere is cozy & laid-back. I highly recommend this resto if you're looking for something authentic & good customer service.

Everything was absolutely amazing. We went twice on two different days. Tried Korean food for the first time. Jap chae. Sweet & sour chicken. & two more dishes. Everything was yummy. On the look out for Korean eateries around us already. The service was super helpful kind & humble. Fully recommend.

If you're looking for an authentic Korean restaurant in Montreal, this is a great option. It's located right in Chinatown, so it's quite easy to find & accessible by metro. The menu is diverse, featuring traditional Korean dishes like bibimbap & tempura. Prices are reasonable, & the owner & staff are very friendly.

The place looks sketchy at first because of the staircase but the inside is cozy & good service. We took a fried rice skewer which was very delicious. The kimchi soup lost some points because of the taste, not spicy enough. We also took a beef japchae which was very flavorful but there wasn't enough beef, only like 6-7 pieces. However, will definitely come back to try other dishes.

i ordered the dukmanduguk & it was disappointing to see that there were very few pieces of rice cake(duk) inside the soup. The consistency was not very thick & was lacking flavour all around. However the banchan is ok but there is a fee for kimchi which puzzles me as I have never had to pay for side dishes. My last experience was better however this time was a little sad.

I simply enjoy Chez Bong, I prefer Korean dishes to Korean BBQ & they have them all, from bibimbap & pancakes to rice cake even on skewer... amazing presentation, nice tableware. Good service.

We never had before Korean food, we decided to give it a shot. The two side dishes were tasty; potatoes & Kimichi (fragmented cabbage)
We order Seafood soup as a main dish & stir fried octopus. Octopus was very rubbery; some pieces were hard to swallow. The seafood was full of tofu. The prices compared to the quality of food was high.
I will still give Korean cuisine another chance but maybe not in Montreal.
