About

Maison Chez Bong centers its culinary identity on authentic Korean tabletop barbecue, providing guests with the interactive experience of grilling premium cuts of meat directly at their tables. The menu features a diverse selection of marinated proteins and traditional sides that emphasize bold, fermented flavors and classic spice profiles. Diners manage their own cooking process using integrated heating elements, which ensures precise control over the texture and searing of every piece. The environment focuses on functionality and shared engagement, centered around heavy ventilation systems that manage smoke during the meal. Staff members facilitate the service by replenishing essential vegetable accompaniments and various spicy dipping sauces throughout the progression of the food. This establishment prioritizes the communal aspect of Korean dining culture by utilizing central serving platters designed for multiple people.

Maison Chez Bong is widely celebrated as a hidden gem in Montreal's Chinatown, consistently praised for offering some of the most authentic and flavorful Korean cuisine in the city. Guests frequently highlight the generous portions, comforting dishes like bibimbap, spicy pork, and seafood pancakes, and the fresh, high-quality ingredients used in every meal. While the space is cozy and tucked away, it maintains a warm, family-oriented atmosphere where the staff is noted for being exceptionally friendly, efficient, and welcoming. I used to come to this restaurant since 2014, several times a year, it was one of my favorites.
Last time I went there was before covid.
I went back today & for sure for the last time.
The waiter was extremely arrogant, rude, petulant.
The food was not even close to what was before.
I am sad that I didn't encounter the restaurant I used to love. The emptiness was a surprise for me when I arrive, but now I totally understand why.

Petit bistro Coréen intime, pas beaucoup de place donc se remplis assez rapidement. Le boeuf bulgogi etait un peu sec, commander du kimchi & melangez avec le boeuf & le riz & c'est super bon.

Prix & service très bon

Not that many Korean restaurants in Montreal. Ambience & surroundings were fine. Service was good. I'm Korean so can judge it by a higher standard. First of all, most Korean restaurants offer barley tea at no extra charge. They offered corn tea & green tea at a charge. Secondly most decent Korean restaurants offer panchan (Korean side dishes including kimchi, sweet potatoes, bean sprouts, spinach salad, etc) as free appetizers & most Korean restaurants are judged by how much & how many appetizers are offered as side dishes. I didn't look at the menu carefully assuming they would be offered but it was on the menu as side dishes you could order. The tofu bibimbap was good. The kimchi jigae (kimchi stew) was tasty. The spicy pork was small & not great by Korean standards. Overall a decent meal but not up to Toronto & certainly not Vancouver standards.

Recommended by a friend so I tried their signature Beef Bibimbap.
The bowl came in super hot & sizzling! The chopped vege tastes fresh & sauce not overly spicy, a bit salty though.
The portion could be bigger otherwise may not be fulfilling enough for some.
Overall a budget friendly quick meal in a casual atmosphere, will drop by sometime again to try other items on their menu.

Food was ok. I asked for nonspicy but it was red. I mentioned it was for baby. Restaurant was empty when we went in. Stairs to go to the restaurants, no good high chair available for babies.
Korean food is known for side dishes, but no sides were given? I'm not from Canada, maybe there are no sides dishes given in Canada?
Was disappointed given the good reviews.
