Secondly, when our main course arrived to our table 20mins later; to discover that my sautéed mushrooms, French onion soupe (bland & unwanted onion skins) & porterhouse steak every dish were overly salted (including fries) & due to personal health conditions, we could barely touch it & the red wine was like jelly texture when arrived to our table. Thirdly, when advise to waitress that we rarely drink wine & asked waitress what is your least dry wine, she had spoken to us in unprofessional tone that we should of known that you describe your wines as full body & some other terms which I don't quite recall. Otherwise, your crispy shrimp & grilled salmon & lentil begula salad was & why, weren't we informed that $3 would apply to my mother's of hot water? Cool looking place, dark ambiance & overall good food. To start, we had the beef tar tar & French onion soup- both awesome. The steak we had porterhouse & shared it. The flavours were great, I will say it was a tad overcooked but we enjoyed it. The sommelier was very helpful & the wine was delicious. Service could have been a touch better for what we paid. They did throw in a free dessert because it was our anniversary which was very nice, really appreciated that.
Wunderbar, lecker und perfekter Service, auch wenn das Steak bei " Medium plus" leider "well done" war. Absolut zu empfehlen, besonders für dry aged Freunde!
We sat outside on the patio overlooking the square. Great atmosphere. They specialize in agreed steaks & ask if it's came out perfect. Food came out fast & the service was amazing. Again, like most restaurant here, we were never bothered to pay the check. We could talk & relax as long as we wanted to unlike in the States.
Absolutely phenomenal food & service. Our waiter was very tentative to us when we were dining. He asked for example oh did he give you the lemon water for when you're done with the lobster? & to top things off the food, the lobster & sirloin steak was absolutely amazing. The sirloin literally cut like butter & the lobster was delicious with the sweet potato fries
Expensive, portions not great. My steak was way too rare than the medium I requested. Also it wasn't easy to cut. Wouldn't return
Best steakhouse I've been worldwide. Service is impeccable 👌. Great attention to detail. I highly recommend Maggie Oakes if you're looking for a very good steak 💯
Servers are great! Inside dining is noisy but restaurant is nice & nicely appointed. Their signature aged beef is priced per ounce, but is prepared in pre-sliced 20oz portions...why not just list the cut by the actual price instead of forcing the customer to pull out the calculator to figure the price of the serving? We ordered the Flank Steak which admittedly is the lowest price cut, but I ordered it because I didn't want to try to polish off 20oz of steak for dinner. I've had flank steak before & still enjoyed it but in this case I was sorry I ordered it. It was tough, chewy, & flavorless. I would recommend the restaurant remove it from the menu.
Steak was overcooked. Most prices were reasonable but some felt a bit ridiculous. Also initially doublecharged on the bill which we had to point out.

Superb dinner. Excellent server, very attentive, & setting on the street was fantastic for people watching. We had oysters & steak with a bottle of Sancerre. Kids menu also very good & they added veggies on request. All meals were excellent & good value too.
It's located in unique & vibrant Old Montreal. They offer dry-aged meats. The 45 days aged rib steak was awesome, rich flavor, tender & marbled. We were there at 9:30pm, didn't want to eat two much, but we didn't think the 20oz rib steak was enough for three of us lol, so delicious. The goat cheese was amazing, rich, smooth & creamy. The flank steak was so so, a bit dry.
I decided to celebrate my birthday at Maggie Oakes this year & had no regrets other than missing out on their terrasse experience! By the time I was making a reservation about a week in advance their terrasse was already booked up so I went with a table inside. Our server Alec was exceptional, not only from the traditional point of view of being a professional with quick & friendly service but also going an extra mile to take pictures of us, 7 girls with very specific instructions LOL. Their steaks are amazing & they have enough vegetarian options to also satisfy non-meat-eating appetites in the group. Appetizers are really unique & flavorful. The drinks are nice & boozy unlike other places that charge you the same prices but put half a shot of alcohol & fill the glass with ice until it overflows.
Fantastic food, service, & location. We loved sitting outside & people watching while we drank wine & ate steak- what could be better?
Very efficient & attentive staff! Convivial atmosphere too! The steak frites included a delicious au jus & tender yet crisp vegetables. The caesar salad was a wonderful starter & included a Parmesan crisp. Very thankful to the staff of Maggie Oakes for providing a complimentary dessert (with a sparkler) for the bride-to-be & overall a joyous bachelorette dinner for us all!
Resto incroyable! L'équipe était aux petits soins avec nous & que dire de la nourriture. WOW!!! LE meilleur steak que j'ai mangé de ma vie. La purée de pommes de terre aux truffes était tellement bonne que j'en aurais mangé un chaudron entier. Les cocktails étaient bons mais un peu trop fort en alcool à mon goût. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant. Encore merci à toute l'équipe.
Server was very nice & helpful with the menu. We got Caesar salad & shrimp cocktail as appetizer. Then the Steak Bavette for dinner which was really good along with seasonal veggies & fries. The perfect combo. Also tried the soup of the day. & got the cheese cake for dessert which was tasty.
