We ordered a chicken poutine, & it went straight to the garbage. The fries were clearly from the day before or several hours old because they tasted like cardboard.
Friendly atmosphere, with delicious food. Portions were generous, but service was not professional. I needed to ask for many things like napkin, sauce, plates, etc. Overall, it's highly recommended.
Portuguese chicken poutine was very good. Got a small. Portion sizes are good. I had ordered the chicken & chorizo poutine but didn't get any chorizo. Maybe lost in translation. Service is quick. Atmosphere is decent.
Great Portuguese chicken, roasted on skewers, fresh bread, & great fries. What else can you ask for when you want a good meal.
Recommended by Canadian friends, we tried this highly reputed Portuguese restaurant, & we were not disappointed by the excellent poutines & chicken sandwiches! The portions are generous, & the prices are reasonable. The salads are also of good quality. So, the quality/price/quantity ratio is unbeatable in the city. Expect a bit of a wait (30 minutes during lunchtime). There are few seats inside, but good weather allows for takeout & a meal at La Fontaine Park, which is just next door. I highly recommend it!
Didn't really enjoy the Poutine, it was more quantity over quality. However, the value for money is excellent & staff are nice. Some of the chicken is cartilage / a bit difficult to chew which can be jarring amongst the other soft ingredients & the gravy is a bit too salty.
Located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood of town, Ma Poulle Mouillée is a very popular, no-frills spot that's as famous for it's insanely long lines & wait times as it is for their succulent Portuguese style chicken. & while trying to get that aforementioned chicken can easily require standing in a line anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, most loyalists would say that it's absolutely worth the trouble & I would agree. Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet" & boy was he right. The chicken coming out of this place is absolutely insane. It's full of flavor, it's moist & it is one of the bites of food I've had in a very long time. Depending on what you order, the contents of your box might change a bit but I recommend you get the "Le Tremblay" option for $16CAD which features some chicken breast, a ton of fries & a side salad of greens with shaved carrots in a delicious vinaigrette. Don't share, just chow down in shame. It's greasy, it's tasty & full of flavor. If you're super hungry (you must be American - hi!) you can get other, larger options: ones with chorizo or even befana & while the first is scrumptious, the befana was nothing to write home about & ordering it isn't something I'd do again. Honestly the Tremblay is plenty of food. Service wasn't particularly friendly or fast - but man, it just doesn't matter. Just get in line & you'll be rewarded with a Portuguese feast which shines some spotlight on a cultural piece of Montreal that few other places can showcase as well. A+
Best poutine in MTL ever! Charcoal-grilled chicken toppings & sausages tasted crazy. So delicious!!! It was so hot inside while I was waiting. It woule be great if there could have any fan to cool down
Visited given the publicity & recommendations. Tasty poutine with chicken & chorizo but found it the gravy a bit salty. Grilled chicken was succulent & well seasoned.
What are you doing in Montreal? Go here! The poutine is great but I think the potatoes they put under the chicken while they roast are even better & the sandwich with spicy sauce is out of this world. I'd be so happy if NYC could snag this guy...
