I didn't realize someone could mess up pancakes. The pancakes definitely didn't have enough butter & eggs. The mascarpone on the pancakes is the worst mascarpone I've ever had. Somehow it was like sand. I personally, don't want my pancakes already swimming in syrup before you give it to me. For how much these pancakes cost I would have liked at least a little bit of fresh fruit. I got the smash burger with the breakfast potatoes. The breakfast potatoes were incredibly bland & under seasoned, whereas the smash burger was small but incredibly salty. If they added less salt to the burger, It would've been a pretty solid smash burger. Considering the breakfast potatoes are an extra three dollar charge, they were horrible. Overall the diner is not worth your time or money.

This is the kind of diner Guy Fieri would pull up to in the Camaro. NDG Luncheonette on Fielding Avenue is a 24-seat love letter to the American breakfast, tucked inside a neighbourhood that didn't know it needed one until they started flipping pancakes thicker than a Stephen King novel. The red booths, the boxing memorabilia on the walls, the menu where every dish is named after a family member - this is the diner your favourite movie montage was filmed in, except the food is real & it's better than anything Hollywood's prop department could fake.

The American breakfast would make a bald eagle shed a tear of patriotic pride - eggs done exactly how you want them, bacon with structural integrity, & a portion size that reminds you what generosity looked like before restaurants started putting three items on a plate & calling it'curated.' & those pancakes - stacked, fluffy, seasonally topped, & so thick you could use them as a doorstop if you didn't respect yourself enough to eat them first. Come hungry. Leave satisfied!

I've been to NDG Lunchette twice now, & it's quickly become one of my favorite breakfast spots in Montreal.

The restaurant has a cozy, classic diner feel with only a few booths, which I actually love. They try to keep the larger booths available for families when it's busy, which is understandable given the limited space.

Everything I've tried has been great. The eggs are incredibly fluffy & creamy, the bacon & sausage are cooked perfectly, & the portions are generous without being over the top. One of my absolute favorites is their breakfast sandwich with bologna-simple, comforting, & surprisingly delicious. Their lunch burger is also worth trying.

I'm actually writing this review after seeing how much attention one of my food photos from here received. The sandwich photo alone got over 10,000 views, which says a lot about how good it looked-& tasted.

The staff have always been friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, & it's the kind of place that makes you want to come back & try more of the menu. Next on my list are the pancakes, which look absolutely incredible every time I see them come out of the kitchen.

If you're in NDG & looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot, this place is definitely worth checking out.

4 stars that should be a 3.5
Place is hella cute, quaint & completely unexpected for that part of NDG. Simple menu, but certainly a propos of the small restaurant. Initially service was good, but after food was delivered it was a bit spotty. Asked for some mayo, & waited so long for it that most of what I wanted it on was eaten due to hunger. Wife had the pancakes, which were nice & fluffy but the cold toppings made it just a lukewarm meal. I had the JJ's breakfast, which was nice. Bacon was a bit burnt, but it was simple. Rye toast was a nice touch & the eggs were well made. Certainly a home breakfast, just made by someone else. Tax & tip, including 2 coffees (which don't appear to be mentioned as extra, unless I completely missed it) was $45.

I would certainly not recommend going again, nor would I make it part of my rotation, as much as I love non-chain places, but I would not refuse to go.

This was Our first experience with food from montreal & it didn't disappoint. The coffee tasted fresh even though we came in the afternoon. The jjs breakfast & everything was seasoned just right with light fluffy eggs & crispy bacon & a bite from the sausage. The pancake came with apple compote & goat cheese & was phenominal. The sweetness of the apple complimented the goat cheese on top of a slightly firm but very fluffy pancake. The fried chicken sandwich was honestly the best one I've ever had. The atmosphere here felt so welcoming & homly. This place is definitely some where you have to come when visiting Montréal.
