Afficher toutmarket(99) fresh(54) atwater(37) cheese(35) local(29) shop(28) produce(24) canal(24) quality(20) vegetable(20) legume(20) vendors(19)Stopped by Atwater Market on a Tuesday evening looking for good light for some shots, & honestly the place itself ended up being the real subject. The warm glow coming through the tall windows hit the produce stalls perfectly around 6pm, & I spent way more time there than planned. Grabbed a wedge of aged cheddar from one of the cheese vendors near the back & it was genuinely one of the better things I've eaten this year. If you haven't been on a weeknight when it's quieter, you're missing a completely different & more relaxed version of this place.
I am seduced at the moment by people reading previous reviews of mine so I put forward one more.
Visually the Marche Atwater is a kaleidoscope of stalls of fresh fruit & vegetables, flowers, character vendors of Quebec agriculture, food novelties, homemade initiatives, meat cuts of artisan design, sophisticated cheeses for every pallet of wine, a Quebec icon bakery & a mini Marche of foodie restos that bring forth Montreal's daytime joie de vivre where picnic table style eating is hugely popular with both people watchers & wasps trying to get in on the exotic food smells.
The Atwater Market is a landmark of Montreal culture & a gateway to the Lachine Canal where every mode of movement except cars is present & where the gentrification of both sides of the canal represents a positive visual development in our history.
Prices at the Atwater market are not cheap. I buy my coffee & Epicurean gifts there but am guilty of wandering to the nearby Super C for specials & the occasional consumable when I can't get to Costco.
Marche Atwater is a seasonal experience. In the moment the spirit of Christmas greets the dampness & sometimes sunny cold of this November.
Gone is the hullabaloo of the good summer food court. The smell of pine is a degustation by itself
summer is coming & the foodie site is quickly being reassembled for another year of tummy favorites & eye balling
First stop coming into Montreal & we were looking for a bite to eat.
The market offers fresh food & meals ready to go- there are multiple meat vendors, fruit & vegetable stalls, pasta (fresh pasta & to go meals) & a boulangerie/bakery that had lots of delicious bread & baked goods.
Inside & outdoor seating available.
Highly recommend!
Numerous vendors offering a variety of products. Fresh products & produce. I highly recommend it.
Atwater Market is my favorite place to shop for food in Montreal. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but honestly the quality & selection make it worth it. So many great options, & everything just feels well curated. Hot tip; get to know the vendors, they always have the best recommendations.
A great place to explore, especially if you enjoy fresh food & a lively market atmosphere. Marché Atwater has a really nice mix of local vendors, produce, baked goods, & specialty items, all in a beautiful historic building.
The quality of the products is excellent, & you can tell a lot of the vendors take pride in what they offer. It's a perfect spot to pick up fresh ingredients or just walk around & discover something new. The outdoor stalls in warmer months add even more charm to the experience.
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, which makes it a bit harder to move around comfortably. Prices can also be slightly higher compared to regular grocery stores, depending on what you're buying.
Overall, it's a must-visit market in Montreal with great selection & atmosphere, just best enjoyed outside of peak hours if possible.
One of my favourite parts about living in Ville Marie is how accessible Marche Atwater is. Great selection of smaller vendors, featuring the farm fresh produce of course. Personally I shop more at the stores in the interior arcade. There are two grocery stores in this market that have amazing selections of products you don't find in larger grocery stores. The butchers & cheese shops are awesome here too. Of course this is an expensive place to do daily shopping but for a few specialty items to treat yourself it's a great destination.
Marché Atwater offers an impressive variety of high-quality products all in one place.
The market is known for its fresh fruits & vegetables, artisanal breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, spices, & specialty items from different cultures. Everything is well-organized, clean, & clearly presented, making it easy to explore & enjoy.
You'll find local producers alongside specialty vendors offering olive oils, balsamic vinegars, dried fruits, & gourmet ingredients. The bakery section is especially strong, with fresh bread & pastries baked daily.
It's a reliable place to shop for fresh, seasonal products, quality ingredients, & unique food items, whether for everyday cooking or something more special.
A really awesome marketplace right on Lachine Canal & the best venue to buy local & eat local ❤?❤? We love coming here all seasons but coming here during the Christmas holidays is the best 😇😇 All the vendors & everyone working there is super nice & give the best samples ever 🥰🥰 Once again the best 11/10 venue to buy local & eat local 🙏🙏
I love the Atwater market. I always checkout La douceur de marche for specialty foods & seasonings & all the veggie & fruit vendors. There is also a great cheese selection in one of the stores. You got everything you could possibly want at this market! Love the colourful vibe here
Really nice market. Several vegetable & fruit vendors outside & an abundance of butchers inside. Also a number of bakeries, fine food stores, etc. Several food vendors were doing a brisk business at lunch time. A nice market to pick up something for lunch or dinner.
A great market with local veggies & fruits! The atmosphere was wonderful, & the vendors were really friendly! I will be coming back more often!
Vibrant & abundant, alive & full of life! The market is a nice glimpse into Quebec culture through the variety of vendors & the beautiful assortment of grown in Quebec produce. The crowds also shows diversity & excitement. As much as it's a market it's also a cultural center for the city.
Looking for a feast for the senses in Montreal? Marché Atwater is the place to be! 🌽🧀🥖 Nestled by the scenic Lachine Canal, this bustling market is a local landmark & a must-visit for foodies, families, & anyone who loves vibrant city life. The atmosphere is always buzzing, with colorful stalls overflowing with the freshest fruits, veggies, flowers, & plants outside-perfect for a sunny stroll or picnic supplies.
Step inside the iconic art deco building & you'll find a treasure trove of local delights: artisan cheeses, charcuteries, butchers, fishmongers, & one of Montreal's best bakeries, Première Moisson, serving up heavenly pastries & breads. Craving a quick bite? The market's food court is packed with tasty options-from pizza & sandwiches to bubble tea-so you can fuel up & keep exploring.
Whether you're shopping for a special dinner, grabbing gourmet treats for a picnic by the canal, or just soaking in the sights & smells, Marché Atwater delivers every time. Friendly vendors, a huge variety of products, & a lively, authentic Montreal vibe make this market a true gem. Don't miss it! 🌷🍓🥐
It's a nice place to grab coffee & a pastry. Lots of different vendors with lots of different products.
I recently visited Marché Atwater & was thoroughly impressed by the variety & quality of products available. The market is a vibrant hub filled with fresh fruits & vegetables, all of which looked incredibly fresh & inviting. The selection of plants & flowers is equally impressive, making it a delightful place for gardening enthusiasts. The atmosphere is lively, & the vendors are friendly & knowledgeable, always ready to offer suggestions or share insights about their produce. It's clear that the market places a strong emphasis on quality & freshness, which is evident in every stall. Marché Atwater is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best in local produce & enjoy a pleasant shopping experience in a bustling, yet welcoming environment. Highly recommended!
