Great spot for fresh everything & yummy treats. Flowers & plants, fresh meats & cheeses from local artisans. Fresh produce & much more. I love riding along Lachine canal & stopping in for lunch just a perfect spot.
A beautiful 1930s Art Deco indoor & outdoor public market sitting right along the scenic Lachine Canal.
The Vibe: Quintessentially French-Canadian, cozy, & vibrant, featuring a prominent clock tower & long rows of wooden stalls laden with flowers & maple goods.
The Food: It is a wonderland for artisanal bakeries & local meats. In the summer, the outdoor courtyard turns into a massive culinary hub with local food trucks serving gourmet poutine, wood-fired pizzas, & fresh-pressed cider.
Tourists attractions, locals also attracted with offers of fresh fruits & vegetables. Many fast food choices. Busy & expensive. No surprises.
A great place to explore, especially if you enjoy fresh food & a lively market atmosphere. Marché Atwater has a really nice mix of local vendors, produce, baked goods, & specialty items, all in a beautiful historic building.
The quality of the products is excellent, & you can tell a lot of the vendors take pride in what they offer. It's a perfect spot to pick up fresh ingredients or just walk around & discover something new. The outdoor stalls in warmer months add even more charm to the experience.
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, which makes it a bit harder to move around comfortably. Prices can also be slightly higher compared to regular grocery stores, depending on what you're buying.
Overall, it's a must-visit market in Montreal with great selection & atmosphere, just best enjoyed outside of peak hours if possible.
Great market! Lots of fine foods, fresh local fruits & vegetables in season.
