Review Summary

Reviews describe Lloydie's as a vibrant Caribbean spot with a strong fusion of bajan and Jamaican flavors, where jerk chicken, oxtail, and patty options draw frequent praise for bold, flavorful profiles and generous portions; the loaded patty and plantain poutine appear as popular twists when available, with pork sometimes offered as an alternative on request; many diners note the patties are among the best in town, and the jerk chicken and jerk chicken plate receive frequent calls for authenticity and tenderness, while the rice, plantains, and sauces, especially the spicy pepper sauce, round out the meals; service and atmosphere receive praise for friendliness and a retro vibe, with value and price noted as solid for the portion size; some reviewers mention occasional menu constraints such as limited beverage options or items like oxtail running out, and a few reports mention occasional variability in spice level or staff interactions; overall Lloydie's is seen as a go-to for cravings for satisfying Caribbean comfort and a consistently flavorful meal.

The plantains are absolutely disgusting! How do you mess you plantains? I would suggest cutting it smaller so it cooks better. The slices are too huge, brown on the outside but raw on the inside. The oxtail was burnt & tough.

No meat on the oxtail & the rice it's like uncle Ben. So peas on it.

I've been here twice & the food is full of flavour. It's a fusion of bajan & Jamaican cuisine. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere of the restaurant is vibrant & unique. If you want to satisfy your cravings, the oxtail & jerk chicken are really good. The pepper sauce is spicy & delicious!

We had lunch on a Wednesday at aroind 2pm & it was quiet. Service was good. The food was delicious, it came really fast! They ran out of Oxtail for the day so we oredered the jerk chicken & fried chicken. They brought my husband the rest of the oxtail they had left in a little bowl! Super nice!! I guess it wasn't enough for a whole order. I also got a beef patty, it was great! It was our first time & it's definitely not our last!!

Back again today ❤? June 1 2025
Was happily greeted by two very happy employees. The jerk meal on point. The patties were good. I need a jerk chicken fix minimum once a month as my hubby can't handle anything with spices or a bit spicy. I always get the hot pepper sauce on the side to greedily dip my chicken into it. Satisfies every craving ❤?

Authentic dishes of the Islands, Oxtail is to die for, the Jerk chicken is on point. Corn bread super moist & has good bounce to it when you bite it - even a plantain poutine was a pleasant surprise. Come back a few times to try everything in the menu, I promise it won't dissapoint.

Honestly pretty good. The jamaican patties were definitely a bit too dry in my opinion & they didn't have any oxtail on the menu which I really wanted to try but the pork jerk was good as well as the beans & rice & plantin !

Oxtail was beautifully cooked but lacked flavor. Plantain was barely warm & not fresh

Très belle ambiance, mais les oxtails laisse à désirer... j'ai pas trop aimer la sauce sur les oxtails. Mais la viandes est tendre & bien cuite

4.7⭐️ I absolument love this place. Jamaican patties are okay but I save my appetite for the plates. Best Jerk chicken I've ever encountered. Spiced right & cooked to perfection. I tend to order an extra side of chicken. The oxtail is amazing. Most places will have little lean meat & mostly fatty & bone but not Lloydies! Don't forget to mix your slaw in w/ the lentil rice. Portions per serving are quite generous. The restaurant is very clean & orderly. Highly recommend treating yourself to this eatery.

As a Jamaican myself it's hard to find real authentic food that feels like home & especially when it comes to oxtail. I can confidently say the oxtail is 9.5/10 I would give it a 10 If there was a little more meat but honestly its not that deep but the food is 10/10 ,the vibe is 10/10 & service 10/10. The food a GWAN STILL !

I got the oxtail plate, the oxtail was so tender & the sauce had so much flavour. I definitely will be back. The portions are big & I ordered extra plantains for $5 & it was a lot!

Pros : Decent amount of oxtail for 20$. Meat was tender & juicy. Plantain out of this world! Food was ready really fast. Bajan fried chicken is good!!!
Cons :on the oxtail plate, there was a lot of gravy so I was happy at first but when I tasted, it was bland..like no real taste. I found it had instead some sort of bbq flavor. Husband had the jerk chicken & made the same comment. Also, it Wasnt the regular rice & peas im used to..I wanted some all spice & nutmeg flavor which (In my taste) was missing unfortunately. But it seems really popular so good for the owners!!! Also nice decor!! but Ill stick to my usual spots in NDG & Lasalle for oxtail & jerk.
