Food was really good, you get served bread & butter with pickles & mustard included in the service. Prices are for sure on the higher side but they reflect the quality of the dishes.
Traditional French restaurants with a more relaxing vibe . Had a great wine list with bottles starting at 60. We are from out of town & want ready to go home, because we also had a child & just wanted to go have something to drink . If your look for a great late night eat this is a fantastic place to go it opens untill 2am.
We were greeted warmly & sat quickly. I wish I could have sampled more from the menu. Everything we did order was exquisite. I've never had better grilled octopus! Merci 🙂
Phenomenal! Staff is friendly & the food exquisite & authentic! Can't wait to go back
L'express truly lives up to its hype & praise. Pleasantly greeted at the door & with reservation i was seated in minutes. I had never eaten duck meat before & Gabriel assured me it would melt in my mouth & it did! I'm glad I took the recommendation. The Confit duck with its crispy skin & the potatoes was *chef's kiss! Finished the meal off with a Crème brûlée which was perfect. The service was great. The ambience is 💯. Made my last night in Montreal memorable :)
L'entrée de pieuvre était excellente, le tartare aussi, mais la pièce maître était la crème brûlée au café!!
I had accidentally made our dinner reservation for the wrong date & instead of turning us away they were able to get us a table. All the staff were friendly & super sweet to both myself & my mother. All the food was delicious & I recommend getting their crem brule & their quail dish if you are there.
Awesome dining experience Food was amazing Ambience & vibe were great Staff was friendly & attentive
This restaurant has such a vibrant atmosphere. The energy is contagious & always puts me in a great mood. Great food overall which is what matters!! Excellent staff!!!
It was good. I heard that if you didn't make a reservation, it might be crowded. But actually it was not too bad. The servers were kind.
It's classic French food overall made very well. Mind blowing ? No. Worth making the time to travel to? Not so sure. But it's solid food.
L'Express is one of the best in Montreal - a classic French restaurant with a Parisian bistro style room, excellent food, & incredible service. Everything was done very well.
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I felt ultimately disappointed with L'Express. No complaints regarding the service, which was pleasant & efficient, but there were several misses with the food itself. The sorrel soup was great, & seemed like a promising sign of the meal ahead. However, the green salad arrived completely-not lightly, but completely-undressed. The mains were decent, but underwhelming. My steak was rather tough. The duck confit itself was fairly nice but had some areas which were poorly rendered, & the accompaniments were under-seasoned & bland. I enjoyed the atmosphere, though my partner found it overly loud. Overall, this was the restaurant I most anticipated visiting, & which disappointed me the most.
Although I am giving a 5 star review, if the rating is out of 10, I would give them only a 8.5 to 9.5. I like the place, but there were a few issues. There were lots of free places, but for celebrating my big wedding anniversary, my family of 3 was given a table of 2 with 3 chairs. We were expecting the desserts to be spectacular, but the créme brulé was runny as if it was kept too long? Many I have to give them a chance & go back to try again more dishes.
